You know, I’ll be that person with the unpopular opinion here and say that this was my favorite sex reveal of the day. It was completely unexpected in the most hysterical way possible. And this means there isn’t another little Duggar grandkid being announced today and that is a very good thing since it means less siblings for Izzy and Sam to compete with for their parents’ time. 

I don't think it’s necessarily a bad thing that they’re being so open about sex though. Jill wasn’t raised in a healthy environment in many ways, but especially relating to sex and intimacy. It does seem that she’s being genuine about enjoying their time together and I do think that’s a positive thing. She’s socially stunted and doesn’t really get why this is considered TMI, but it’s not as bad as it could have been. 

But yeah. I agree. Definitely not something I wanted to be picturing. ?

Yeah, on the one hand, I think it's good that someone with a platform like Jill Duggar Dillard is encouraging women in this community to discuss sex openly and making it OK by doing it herself in a very public way.  This is the first step in women being able to discuss not only their positive sexual experiences in marriage, but also voice their negative sexual experiences and get assistance in addressing those.  Yes, her boundaries are off, but since the fundie lifestyle encourages and at times mandates inappropriate boundaries, I'm hardly shocked by that.  And, like you said, it could be SO much worse.  

On the other hand, this is the blogger version of married couple mini-golf humping.  Jill certainly is JB's daughter!

Sex is a big part of life and usually fundies are way too holy to talk about it directly (even though so much of the shit they do is related to sex)   

Plus, the anthropologist in me wants to know more about how fundies who grow up in these sex-negative spaces deal with it.

I’m surprised by the amount of backlash Jill has received on here regarding her post. While it’s not something the average person wants to dwell their thoughts on, Jill is approaching sex on a more fun, natural level, rather than the sex for procreation approach that the Duggar’s are infamous for. I just don’t think Jills post warrants calling her things like a stupid, silly girl. If it had been Jessa or Jinger, I imagine the responses would have been different. 

Mad someone who was raised in a cult and still struggles with intimacy and sex, I applaud Jill. And now I’m going to go think about something else, LOL.

There’s nothing wrong with what she posted. My “wtf?!?” is because of how prudish they are/were before marriage. It feels squicky now because they were so “chaste” before marriage. I hope they are finding sexual freedom now, but I also wish some of them would speak out against the purity movement and how damaging it can be and has been to so many people. Yes, some probably have not had any difficulty going from 0-100 in a matter of hours, but I would bet most of them have experienced some significant and lasting damage from it. There’s nothing inherently wrong with how open she’s being now, but to be SO open after sex & sexuality shameful pre-marriage...it comes across as ? rather than something to be commended for.

Yeah. I’d much rather see a post like this than see her parents actually dry humping or hear another word about how sex is only ok in a straight marriage for procreation purposes. Or read yet another of Derick’s or Anna’s Twitter rants. Or hear anything that comes out of the mouth of Jeremy Joseph Vuolo (that man is insufferable, especially in his sermons.) It’s definitely a bit TMI, but this also makes it seem like they have a pretty healthy approach to sex and intimacy and they’re willing to experiment a bit in a safe way. That’s a very good thing all things considered. 

And yes, once again I think Jill is being criticized for something her sisters would get a pass for. I do think Jinger and Jessa would have a different way of presenting it that might impact that a bit, but Jill didn’t really do anything truly worth criticizing her for.
