Can you really get an ultrasound photo that clear? I was glad my kids didn’t want to show their face so the ultrasound. They kept their hands at their face all the time. I kind of liked the surprise of what they looked like at birth.

4D pics are pretty clear but not THAT clear.

ETA - they’re clear enough that the ultrasound tech switched back to 2D when looking between the baby’s legs (I assumed because otherwise you have a clear pic of a baby’s labia or penis), but not so features showed up as smoothly as that photo.

I was thinking Amelia or Lindbergh

I hope they read up on Charles Lindbergh's political positions before considering that name. Maybe it its a girl they could name her Ada, after the town where they married [we can pretend she's named after Ada Lovelace]

Anyway, it is a testimony to jabbie's ability to fly beneath the radar (see what I did there?) that they announce a pregnancy and their FJ thread doesn't even get hot!! : )

Thank you. I am one of these people and was going to say this. My irregular cycles had no tracking/predictability factor. We are rare but we exist. I found out about #2 this way. You'd think I'd have known better, but we totally were not expecting it, even with no protection, didn't believe it could happen. Hands down the happiest day of my life EVER.

I have irregular cycles as well. They’re usually around 40-42 days, but I had a couple cycles closer to 51 days when we were trying to conceive last year and early this year. After seeing a fertility specialist I was finally diagnosed with PCOS and told I’d need treatments to conceive again - treatments our insurance wouldn’t cover. Five weeks later, as we were still trying to wrap our minds around everything, I wound up getting a positive pregnancy test. I was having symptoms that strongly mimicked PMS, so I only took it so I could tell my Endocrinologist I wasn’t pregnant during my appointment the next day. I was so legitimately shocked that I burst into hysterical tears and it took a few minutes until I could explain what the results meant to my husband.

It’s not like this was our first time trying to conceive. This is actually my third pregnancy, so we knew what to look for and it was still a genuine shock. I can absolutely see why it can be a legitimate surprise or shock for a lot of couples, even fundies.

Pretty sure she’s not having twins, unless they haven’t done any ultrasounds yet. In their Instagram post they talk about having their own child singular to raise.

Your probably its most likely one baby but it is amazing how often the ultrasounds don't find the second baby until much later. I've known three and the doctors only explanation was that one was hiding. Hiding where? Its crazy that one can hide. Technically I've known four but the four person thought she was having triplets up to her eighth month when the doctor found number four.

In my mind they use “surprise” to mean “we’ve been actively trying since our wedding night but because it didn’t happen that first cycle, my hopes were up on cycle two and then three and......and look! ___ cycles in we FINALLY got a positive!!!”

I will NEVER believe they use the word surprise to describe “holy shit! We were doing everything we could to prevent and I STILL became pregnant!”

Thanks @Alice in Fundieland for the link. Seems like Abbie could have went for a fever, cough, etc where pregnancy wasn't her first thought with the symptoms. I've never been pregnant but I still feel like I would be surprised getting that positive result even with 'actively' trying. Like "wow my body actually did what I wanted it to!" surprise.

My mom was 39 when they decided to have kids and were under some pressure to do it quickly by that point.  After months of trying, they went to do that procedure where they put the dye in her fallopian tubes (sorry I forget the procedure’s name).  That’s when she found out she was expecting me.  So it was sort of a surprise. She’s joked that I saved her from having that. Lol.

It was so unpleasant that I blocked out the name myself ?

No, it’s actually a Hysterosalpingogram.

I’ve had that done. It’s unpleasant. And incredibly uncomfortable. But hey, giving birth is worse ;)

Oh man. I was actually in the process of starting to schedule that test and the one with the saline solution when I got the positive test. The Doctor wanted all the diagnostic testing out of the way first prior to doing any treatments and I wasn’t looking forward to it. So my son had excellent timing by deciding to exist when he did. ?

Depending on how far along she is, she might not know if she's having twins. I didn't find out until week 17 (!) because I went to a very crunchy OB/midwife practice that doesn't do any sonograms before the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. The only reason I found out is because the numbers for my genetic testing bloodwork came back all screwy, so they send me in for an emergency ultrasound. So if Abbie has just a midwife or a doctor like mine, it's possible.

(As a side note, I ended up delivering at 31 weeks. So I essentially had only a few months to wrap my brain around the idea of a twin pregnancy. Do not recommend. lol)

Delta Zulu Duggar

Recently a good friend found out she was having twins at her 18 week appointment when her doctor suspected he was hearing another heartbeat on the doppler. Her insurance doesn't cover more than one u/s without medical justification and she didn't feel a need to have one. She was showing early, but she had also had a baby about 8 months prior to finding out it was twins so she assumed that was at least part of the reason.

Delta Zulu would be good for boy or girl!

I was just about to suggest something from the NATO phonetic alphabet.

Juliett Grace for a girl, and Charlie John for a boy.

OMG it’s about time they announced! I’ve been sitting on this info since Grandma Mary’s funeral! I’m surprised we didn’t get a gender announcement to go with it, because she’s about halfway through the pregnancy.

Congrats to both of them! Hopefully her awful morning sickness is behind her!

I'm confused. Do you know the Duggar's? You attended Grandma Mary's funeral?

Is anyone else pregnant??

Usually twins skip a generation so I doubt that the probability of Abbie having twins because JD is a twin is low or not at all.

No shit, theres a kid whos at my kids school with this name... thankfully hes an only child! Id hate to think what his siblings could be called!!

There’s a celebrity who named their kid Pilot Inspektor and I truly thought there would only be one of them in the world. Unless your kid goes to school with Jason Lee’s kid!?

I stumbled acrossa very cute but very nike photo of Abbie on Instagram (tank top and what looks to be leggings) I know that as far as shitty beliefs go it's just window dressing and clothes mean nothing.

BUT I'm glad she is sticking to the standards she was raised with and not just automatically adopting Duggar clothing guidelines.

Were they even trying for a baby? It strikes me as odd that she felt ill and the first thing they did was go to the doctor. Surely the first thing to do would be to take a pregnancy test as it's always a possibility, especially for those who don't use protection like fundies.

Anyway I think it will be twins.

One of my friends suffered insane morning sickness when she was expecting twins. She couldn’t stand up without throwing up for months. She says there is definitly NOT going to be any more kids in their family. Lucky for her she doesn’t think birth control is murder.

I think they would know already though if it’s twins and then it would be a bit weird to talk about ”one child” in the announcement.

Abbie having twins has nothing to do with JD being a twin or the Duggars. It has to do with her own genes and her side of the family. If she has twins in her family then she might also have twins.
