wasn't their a rumor going around once that they did a staged food drive for the show, I can't remember how the rumor went but I remember it being out there.

I always thought it was originally going to be real, but then none of the food bank recipients wanted to be filmed. But too late for TLC to back out, so they threw together something for the show, and as we know, it backfired.(I volunteer at my church food bank, and confidentiality laws forbid us from taking photos of the recipients)

But they showed them helping out Friendly Chapel, which was their church during Josie's first months in Little Rock. And yes, going to El Salvador, and John-David and Jana's mission trip that same year. It's kinda tricky, because doesn't the Bible say don't let your charitable acts be shown for men?

My dad was the ultimate old curmudgeon and never spoke about God once that I can recall (except wanting us to marry Catholic but that was just clanishness not religion.)

we had no idea that he participated in charitable activity ever, much less to the extent that he did, until after he died and we went through the financials.

does that make him a better Christian than JB even though my sister had to stop him from bribing the priest to keep it short during my confirmation because there was only so much of that crap he could take?

Hmmmmm, that's very interesting.

With so many confirmed Duggar pregnancies at the same time, I wonder if Jana feels left out or any additional pressure to find her fundie husband.

None of the girls who married into the Duggar family came from mega families, so they are not as familiar with the realities of constant pregnancies and raising mass numbers of children. None of the married 2G Duggar girls was Michelle’s right hand sister mom. Jessa had  2 babies very close together and then held off for a bit. Jinger enjoyed a full year of pregnancy /childless marriage before diving in. Jill has had hard labor and deliveries and is married to a man who does not appear to want a gaggle of kids. I think Jana knows what expectations are placed on a fundie marriage, and knowing what she knows about the realities behind those expectations, she’s not jumping into that pool, at this time.

Personally, I applaud when a Duggar shows some independent, individual leanings and do no march exactly to the beat of JB’s fundie drum. I want them to develop their own path, even if it deviates from their family norm. Not everyone is the same. Can you imagine if Jana just never wanted marriage or kids in her adult life, and she’s lived for nearly 30 years in Duggarville? What would be especially sad about that is Jana’s lack of authenticity in being able to share her feelings/ wants/beliefs. Not everyone in a family is the same, thank God.

Brilliant! May I use it in a new 'location' on my profile?

Jana seems happy with her life.  She was born into a fundie family, but that doesn't mean that she necessarily wants to be married and have kids.

And I would go one further. She might not want that life even if she publicly claims otherwise-

I certainly thinks it is possible that Jana genuinely wants to be married and have children. She seems genuinely maternal and tender towards her younger siblings and nephews and nieces.  If she doesn't want children or only just a few, she wouldn't be allowed to state that publicly while living at home around her parent's control.

A dumpster fire is a better Christian than JB. At least the dumpster fire can help keep people warm on cold nights. What has JimBob done to actually help other people lately?

I would guess that Jana would like to be married but it looks like not enough to settle which looks to be her likely situation. The TTH and JB's headship is better than settling.

But don’t you know? Their show - that one that they get paid loads of money to be on - is a ministry unto us, the ungodly masses. That is a much bigger service than feeding the hungry or clothing the poor!

I agree and would add that it is "better" for her because it is not a permanent situations (per say, if she never marries and he never croaks it could become that). If she marries that is the end of any chance of anything "better". I will admit Jana is kinda my pet fundie because I just don't know much about her from her own mouth, but I do think she is smart enough to know this like many women do in more patriarchal/religious cultures and have known throughout time. Stepping into her shoes for a second, if I had that weight on my shoulders, I would be very very very careful making that choice. I would absolutly let all my sister get married before me, have babies before me, so that I would be gather an impression of what was to come and (because I can be really mean) let them make the mistakes to see what not to do.

Also, I think Jana has more autonomy than her sisters did simply because of the role she played and the trust she has built with her parents.  There’s no reason to rush into marriage and possibly lose that.

Okay so I'm just now watching the last season and holy fucking rude comments... when jessa asks Janna if she's going to tell them about her wedding! I almost died for her. How rude I would be pissed! Sorry I know I'm late to the party here but I just had to say something ?

The Duggars have said they befriend people, invite them over for dinner, and show them IBLP’s Basic seminar once a week. He’s probably there for Gothard Kool-aid and tacos.

OMG eye roll so hard at that stretch of journalism. Click bait worked though, I opened it.

One fucking young fundie dude blurry in the background, no jana in sight.....

These are the times that I wish people would screen shot the article so I don't give the articles the click.

I think Jana isn’t married because she hasn’t met the right guy yet. That’s it. No noble sacrifice for the siblings or desire for less kids, just hasn’t met the man she wants to marry yet. Everything else is just fan fiction.

Just checked her IG and I have garden envy. It is so pretty and she does a nice job. Imagine what she could've done if not stifled by her parents with the messed up beliefs.

You know how when you are very young Mr Right is Mr Perfect and we get past that because life experience.

I wonder if the "right one"  is the "perfect" one.  If so, Jana, you will sleep alone forever.  No one is perfect.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.
