The word blessing comes from the Old English bledsian which literally meant "covered with blood." What did God promise when He first used the word blessing in Scripture, and how are we included in this promise?

...Are the Wisdom Booklets insinuating that Jesus was speaking in English?

He looked just like Barry Gibb on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.

I’m not really sure why Amy or Sierra would be included. Any is a Duggar, but isn’t IBLP and I’m not sure if Sierra is IBLP either. She’s definitely not a Duggar no matter how much she hangs out with them though.

Yes, I see your point that Amy and Sierra would't necessarily fit with an IBLP promotion.   I'm still surprised they're not trying to profit off of photos of all of the pregnant sisters/cousins/friends together though.  It would make for a popular Counting On photo since they've all been featured in CO or 19KAC.   I could see them trying to sell it to People.

Not hoping they do it, just surprised that they're not taking more advantage, trying to make more $ off of the situation.

They could be taking the pictures and waiting to used them in the promos for the next season. Or they could be waiting until someone else announces.

I had a Jim Boob dream again. He was just staring me. Smiling. With his unsettling expression.

Imagine this, but eyes dead on looking at yours. For a long, long time.

I do rememeber news articles where they did refuse cps entry and they did come back with the police and it was around the josh scandal time I think. Tell me I did not dream it.

To me, it makes sense only if the injured child was Tyler, or if JB/M were out of town.  But it's the Duggars who have had previous problems with CPS, so...

Didn't the user here that knows them dispute Pickles saying JD was in the ER with mono for another Duggarling in the ER instead? I wonder if that's related?

I just have to say this CPS worker doesn't sound to professional if this is actually what was said during the call.

Quote

“Well, we’re, um, Washington County DHS office and we’re out here to, uh, we have, uh, an investigation, and, um, I guess they’re, uh, not being cooperative, and we have to see the child to make sure the child is all right. So we just need police assistance or escort,” they said.

They were dealing with minor celebrities and might have realized the call could be released to the public. I’d likely be stumbling over my words to avoid getting sued as well if I were in that situation.

Michelle sounding so robotic during the 911 call following Spurgeon’s birth was likely for the same reason. She probably didn’t want to unintentionally give away anything to the public the shouldn’t know if it was released to the media. That, and not wanting to scare Benessa more than they already were.

The CPS call that was publicized (and presumably that this twitter guy is alluding to) was four years ago, right after Joshgate.

You'd be very surprised what people actually sound like when they speak. I work as a transcriptionist. Generally customers want a non-verbatim transcript, which means I remove the 'ums', 'uhs', 'likes', and so on. If I didn't, they would all read like the CPS worker you quoted. Unless people are reading or reciting a script from memory, they stumble over their words and use filler words, almost always, no matter how professional they are.

But the plane trip to a doctor friend for someone's eye injury was in more recent times... they'd already had *trouble* with CPS from 4 years ago (allegedly.)

A friend of mine is a scopist for a court reporter and cleans up the transcripts before the documents are finalized. I've helped her before and couldn't believe how they will 'clean up' the attorneys' language but submit verbatim all the hems and haws the witnesses say. And by 'clean up' I don't mean from foul language, rather from uhs and ers and the like. Sometimes the attorney's don't have cohesive, educated elocution.

I don't know how to link to an old thread, but it was called Duggar Howler Injury.

I’m working on transcribing oral histories I’ve collected for my dissertation, and the most common words after I, and, and the must be um and ah. This has also caused me to realize why listening/speaking a foreign language is so much more difficult than reading and even writing, because the way people speak in real life (as opposed to books) consists mostly of fragments and run on sentences strung together in a haphazard fashion. Natural speech is extremely ungrammatical, even if you use an accent that is coded as being upper class or educated.

Based on my own observations, its people who are either well versed in public speaking or people who prepare speeches ahead of time that are the ones who use fewer filler words, pause less, etc.

Spoken language gets messy, like @Cleopatra7 points out.

She said someone else was in the hospital but it was possible JD was too. I think it turned out that Grandma Mary had a stroke and was the one in the hospital at that time.
