New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft charged with soliciting prostitution in human trafficking probe

The owner of the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, Robert Kraft, is being criminally charged with soliciting prostitution, authorities in Florida said.

"There was two incidences," an official in Jupiter, Fla., said.

Kraft, 77, is one of more than two dozen people being charged in a police sting in Florida as part of a probe of human trafficking, authorities said.

The owner of the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, Robert Kraft, is being criminally charged with soliciting prostitution at a spa in Florida, where surveillance video showed him receiving sexual services, police said Friday.

Kraft, 77, is one of more than two dozen people being charged in a police sting in Florida as part of a probe of human trafficking, authorities in Jupiter, Fla. said.

"He is one of the individuals. That would be Mr. Robert Kraft," a top police official said at a press conference.

"He is being charged with the same offense as the others, and that is soliciting another to commit prostitution," the official said.

"We're as equally stunned as anyone else," the official said, referring to Kraft's alleged crime, which is a misdemeanor.

Kraft is a friend of President Donald Trump, who last month noted that he had signed four bills to support efforts to eradicate human traffickers, whom the president said committed "heinous crimes."

All the best people are friends with Donald Trump.

His spokesperson said he denies committing any crimes  so I guess they expect his money will make it go away.

Yeah I saw that too about Kraft's balls getting deflated big time in Florida.

I hope that video of Kraft's deflated balls in action never becomes public.  Even so I just had the most horrible visuals.

As for deflategate jokes....

It looks somewhat nonconsensual to me. The police are saying it's a human trafficking case.

One term used was, "sexual servitude".

Sad but true That would be the majority of Hookers would it not be? At least the ones not Escorts or in the fancy celebrity brothels like the Bunny Ranch.

Of course in Kraft's case he was hoping it would be #InflateGate but was more likely #DeflateGate

Wow who could've seen this coming.  (I'm guessing half the planet).

Billionaire equity firm owner John Childs is one of several men accused of soliciting prostitution in connection with a Florida spa tied to an international human trafficking ring, police said Thursday.

Childs, who lives seasonally in Indian River Shores, is wanted on a solicitation of prostitution charge, according to a warrant for his arrest. He has not been arrested.

Childs owns J.W. Childs Associates, a private equity firm based in Massachusetts.

He's a prominent donor to several Republican politicians and groups, including former U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan, Club for Growth and 2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Denies he did it or denies he committed a crime? Those are two different things if he thinks what he did is a crime

There were 1,572 human trafficking cases and involved escort services in 2017. Regardless of how one feels about decriminalizing/legalizing sex work, there are many, many cases of human trafficking for sex work in the US. It’s difficult to say what percentage of sex workers are being trafficked, but it is the most common reason for human trafficking in the US

ESPN's Adam Schefter said there is another person more famous than Kraft involved.  Could it be Trump, Tom Brady, Gronk, Tiger Woods, Jr, Eric, Jared, Clinton, Obama, Pence?

Wouldn't it be pretty hard for Trump or Pence get away from Secret Service and the press pool for long enough to visit a brothel undetected.

I believe you’re correct that the majority of sex workers are involuntary. I don’t think that makes human trafficking for sexual services any less hideous nor any less a violation of human rights. THe more people prosecuted for paying for sex, rather than selling it, the better.

Hope these men have to face real consequences, instead of buying their way out.

Maybe they go together? The secret service has had some big scandals involving sex workers in South America.

I was going to say exactly this--if history is any indication, I think they're probably capable of looking the other way...

Trump has deep pockets and deep connections to unsavory people. Not to hard to get the Secret Service to turn a blind eye. Must be how he gets lap dogs like Lindsay Graham to roll over.

The sex workers could be brought to Mar a Lago undetected.

NPR had an interview this weekend with a woman who was trafficked from Indonesia (?).  She applied for a job as a hotel manager in her home country.  Although heavily accented, she spoke English.  She got the job!

When she got to the US, her traffickers took her passport and she was taken to a brothel. She was sold for 45 minute sessions where she was forced to do anything the "customer" wanted, or she would be beaten.  After over a year, she managed to escape through a very small bathroom window.  She went to two different police stations for help, but they did not believe her.  She slept in a park that night, and the next day a total stranger helped her make contact with the FBI, who did believe her.  She now helps other women who have been trafficked.

But back to the skeptics about trafficked women at Orchids of Asia. The original official contact was a health inspection. The inspector noticed that the women were actually living there -- cooking on the back porch, sleeping in a small room or on the massage tables, with only a very small bathroom (toilet, sink).

When women are trafficked their traffickers typically take their passport, instill a fear of police, plus the women typically have no English and are likely poorly educated.   In addition, they are told they are in debt to their traffickers.  These women seem to fit this profile.

Robert Kraft said he's sorry and don't look at what he's done, look at his ACTIONS. He has great morals thanks to his dead wife. According to his lawyer, Robert Kraft is the real victim here:

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26340599/kraft-releases-statement-says-truly-sorry?platform=amp

Spoiler

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft commented for the first time since he was officially charged with two misdemeanor counts of first-degree solicitation.

"I am truly sorry," Kraft said in a statement. "I know I have hurt and disappointed my family, my close friends, my co-workers, our fans and many others who rightfully hold me to a higher standard."

Kraft said he had remained silent since the charges "in deference to the judicial process." He has pleaded not guilty.

"Throughout my life, I have always tried to do the right thing. The last thing I would ever want to do is disrespect another human being. I have extraordinary respect for women; my morals and my soul were shaped by the most wonderful woman, the love of my life, who I was blessed to have as my partner for 50 years," Kraft said in the statement.

"As I move forward, I hope to continue to use the platform with which I have been blessed to help others and to try to make a difference. I expect to be judged not by my words, but by my actions. And through those actions, I hope to regain your confidence and respect."

Kraft's court date is set for March 28.

Before that, the NFL's annual owners meeting will be held in Arizona, starting Sunday and extending through Wednesday. Kraft is expected to be present.

In his statement, Kraft said his lawyer commented for the first time Friday night "to correct some of the misinformation surrounding this matter."

Kraft's lawyer, William Burck, told ESPN: "There was no human trafficking and law enforcement knows it. The video and the traffic stop were illegal and law enforcement just doesn't want to admit it. The state attorney needs to step up and do the right thing and investigate how the evidence in this case was obtained."

This has been my thinking for quite awhile.

Also, Robert Kraft has apologized and now he feels really really bad (presumably about getting caught).

Presumably, he also immediately engaged a PR form that specializes in damage control, so everything happening is carefully orchestrated and timed for a specific outcome.

It's  the height of utterly depraved douchebaggery to reference his late wife to try to get him out from under this.
