That would be the ultimate punishment him

He's in his 70's and would probably get attention for the remainder of his life.  Fuckin' media.

No, I say solitary confinement. For his own protection, of course.  Left with nothing but his thoughts and an occasional inter-prison letter from Ivanka.

What the hell is the greatest election of all time? An election where you lost the popular vote by millions? The delusions are strong with this one.

How do you impeach a president?

You'll find out soon enough, presidunce dear. You'll find out soon enough.

A deal where he gets away with treason and who knows how many other crimes if he quits is a terrible deal for America. And there is no way he isn't going to run in 2020.

Trump doesn't need to be impeached, just politically crippled and humiliated for the next two years. He will get nastier and more unstable as his world crumbles, especially if his tax returns are released and it is shown he has no money and lots of loans from foreign countries. He went into the last election as a wealthy guy who could be a great deal maker and who would eventually "become presidential". He is going to go into this one possible being revealed to having no money and four years of him behaving poorly, filling his cabinet with openly corrupt people, no tabloid to buy the bad stories and bury them, no corrupt lawyer to pay off porn stars and probably a bad economy.

There is no need to impeach him, just give him enough rope and let him hang himself. And also come up with a good candidate who can inspire voters to come out and vote.

don’t know if I’d want it to be an option. Is it better for the country if he is able to just walk away and fade into obscurity, or is it better for him (and by extension the whole country) to be put through the chaos of a trial and punished for his shit.

Trump will never, ever fade into obscurity. If he walks away from all this he will Tweet his innocence non-stop, stir up conspiracy theories and hatred and be on Fox news non-stop. As hard as prosecuting a former president will be, I think in this case it is the only answer.

Well that was quick. It took him all of what, two days?

What does the RNC have on him? They were clearly pissed off he wrote that article and I bet he got called in and threatened if he didn't get in line.

As much as I'd hate to see him a right-wing drunk uncle martyr, I do think he must be removed.  As soon as possible.  He's far too dangerous.

Pfffft!  So much for Romney.  Is there some kind of  undead zombie spine stealer at work here? Like Invasion of the Body Snatchers but it's Invasion of the Spine Snatchers?  If somebody a Republican gets out of line, an undead Spine Snatcher is deployed to steal their spine by turning it into jelly.

Classic Romney.  He's the Bobbsey twin to Susan Collins.  With an even meaner streak in him.

If by "undead spine snatcher" you mean "russian mobster related threats" I think you may be right. I'm not a conspiracy theory believer, but more and more I feel like there's somebody or something bigger behind this farce propping up the Trumpster. His "base" are just undereducated, ignorant, clueless, and in many cases bigoted - just like Trump! But the number of republicans in government willing to cheer him on makes me wonder what's behind the curtain. Trump's too stupid and self-defeating to have done this without help, whether he realizes it or not.

I don't know, maybe people just are that mean and stupid. But I wouldn't be surprised if somebody was pulling strings and making threats.

A lot of them, maybe even most of them (and certainly the top of the GOP -- McTurtle first and foremost of them, something that has been posted about in one of these threads) have taken Russian and/or Saudi money for their campaigns and personal needs. They are up to their eyeballs and indebted to Russians/oligarchs/Saudi's. That is what is slowly but surely becoming clear. And with the House committees now being run by Democrats, the dirty little GOP corrupt (financial) secrets will almost certainly be revealed. The rot is going to be exposed and I believe it will decimate the party, perhaps even obliterate it.

With the greatest, most successful impeachment of all time.  Nothing but the bestest.

This man  was always going to cave and vote for everything that Trump asks for. It's not Trump's racist policies and billionaire tax cuts that he objects to, it's just that he wants plausible deniability in case Trump's shit hits the fan and he gets a chance to run for president.

Sweet Rufus. Another example of the moral turpitude of this administration.

Trump Admin Ends Cooperation With U.N. on Potential Human-Rights Abuse in the U.S.

Quote

The Trump administration is no longer cooperating with United Nations human-rights investigators on potential violations occurring inside America, The Guardian reports. The State Department is said to have stopped responding to official complaints from U.N. special rapporteurs—a group of experts who act as global watchdogs on issues such as poverty, migration, and justice. At least 13 requests have gone unanswered, according to the report, and there’s been no response to any formal query since May. The Trump administration hasn’t invited any U.N. monitors to visit the U.S. to investigate human rights since Trump’s term began—the only two U.N. experts who have made fact-finding visits were initially invited by Barack Obama. “They are sending a very dangerous message to other countries: that if you don’t cooperate with U.N. experts, they will just go away,” said Jamil Dakwar, director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s human-rights program. “That’s a serious setback to the system created after World War II to ensure that domestic human-rights violations could no longer be seen as an internal matter.”

Oh Donnie, I didn't know you were such a tremendous author! This tweet is really Hugo Worthy! The broader coverage of what we think of as science fiction is really called speculative fiction which includes lots of different areas, like Science Fiction and Fantasy. Another branch of speculative fiction is alternate history, and that is what you are tremendous at writing!

(Note: the Hugo award is given annually, voted on by fans, to the best speculative fiction in various categories, like short story, novel, novella, movie etc. After all of Trump's alternate history, they might even need a best tweet!)

I doubt the Trumpster would ever take an immunity deal and resign from office.  His narcissism won't allow him to accept a public shaming and his sociopathy prevents him from taking any responsibility for his actions.  (That's because he does no wrong--ha!) He'll go down kicking and screaming.

Here's Chuck Shumer talking about what @AmazonGrace posted above.

I'm beginning to believe the presidunce will never willingly open government. He's found a weapon to use, and damned if he will let go of it, because cowardly bullies need such props to feel good. And he desperately needs to feel powerful with the House committees poised to investigate everything. And Mueller is closing in as well. The presidunce is like a cornered rat. I'm afraid of what he'll do if he loses the shutdown showdown.

How does he even plan to do this, when his government is in shutdown? Does he not realize...?
Yeah, probably not.

Shit. SHIT SHIT SHIT.  Double Damn Merde.

This is one of my greatest fears that I've discussed in other posts:

Trump May Declare National Emergency To Build Border Wall   The president says he doesn’t need congressional approval to build the wall.

Quote

President Donald Trump said in a Friday afternoon press conference that he could declare a national emergency over immigration at the southern U.S. border to circumvent the need for congressional approval to build a border wall.

“We can call a national emergency and build it very quickly,” Trump told reporters.

Well, he's threatening.  The Dems MUST STAND STRONG. They just have to.  If they cave, there's nothing, NOTHING, for leverage in the future.  This may also be a threat as an attempt to create chaos/fear/whatever.  I hope Nancy and Chuck just laugh in Trump's face over this threat.

On the other hand, Trump is very nervous over what will go down in the House.
