Give it another five or six years and I'll be ready to call it for the Maxwell daughters, but not yet. Anna and Mary are still too young.

They really are, despite being 26 and 22, respectively. There's something really childlike about those two. I think they'd have a hard time with marriage.

I forgot to add that forgotten Jesse might keep renting out his house and move to Colorado to do 14ers on a regular basis after marriage. He may be the one to actually rebel and leave.

My predictions: Read the 2018 blog posts. After doing so, you'll know exactly what will happen in Maxhell in 2019. Right down to the places they go, the work parties, the posed pictures, the birthday posts and August in Colorado. And we musn't forget the bible time, special family time, auntie time and Grandma's 15 minute time slots to read to the grandkids.

The only thing that may flex a bit would be when and who gives birth. Chelsy & Melanie will do so in 2019, we know that. More likely than not, so will NR Anna. Possibly Elissa, but I'd be more inclined to believe a disguised announcement for 2020 birth rather than 2019.

If Jesse gets married, I'd honestly be surprised. I don't know why, I just would be.

I have zero thoughts of any of the girls doing anything with their lives beyond what they already do; babysit, mother's helper, barely passable "writer", edited & manipulated & posed photographs. Maybe, maybe, another secret "mission" for Mary & Anna, but they just did that last year, I'm not sure they'll have recovered enough from that interruption in the schedule to try again in 2019.

Terri will continue to suffer from depression and try to pass her life off as successful because she can't function outside very detailed, specific schedules & lists.

Steve will cry when he see's some poor woman's cleavage.

I admit I don't know much about this type of struggle.  if she got real help and made progress with her mental health, outside of Steve's life hack of controlling her environment, would she be able to tolerate their limited world?

How much of his control was initially in direct response to her issues?

I apparently am jonesing for a detailed look into their psyches today.

6. Elissa gets pregnant, and has another baby. They 'inadvertently' name it after a high profile sports star, secure in the knowledge that Steve will never notice.

Ok we are seeing quite a bit of these “friends.” First they are spotted caroling with the family. Then they are posing at an apologetics conference. Although Jesse has a buffer male in between him and a girl, he still might be touching her. Finally they are seen helping in the basement with boring Maxwell crap. I’m starting to think one of those girls is “getting to know” Jesse.

Do you guys think Teri is as on board with keeping their daughters single?

(I have two conflicting theories, but am really interested in everyone's thoughts.)

I honestly don't know. I mean if you look at her own marriage she went from being a reasonably independent college student to a massively depressed homeschooling mother with limited freedom and resources. I could see that she could feel that keeping her daughters unmarried is 'safer' for them - from her perspective they are reasonably free at this point, in that they don't have to obey a man they dislike intensely (she assumes they all love Steve and don't resent him.) Given there does seem to be a genetic component to PND she may also worry that marrying them off means condemning them to the nightmare of pregnancy and depression she went through, for which there is no sanctioned means of escape. I know if I had a daughter I would be incredibly stressed about her developing the same pregnancy complications I had, although my response would be to make sure that she was aware of the symptoms and had told her medical care team that there was a family history rather than try and prevent her forming relationships!

Arnold and Ellie melt my demon heart.

Does anyone know how big their audience is for their blog and MOTH?

tbh I was surprised to see MOTH still being in demand.  do they still do speaking engagements?

Regarding Teri wanting to keep her daughters home. I have always thought this is her plan, more than Steve’s.

The woman can’t seem to make it through an hour of life, without a schedule. Without the ‘girls’ in the house, she would have to do all the cooking and ceiling fan cleaning, etc. I seriously think she would totally fall apart just trying to make up a schedule to include all that extra work for herself.

Having her daughters stay home, makes life much easier for Teri, and by extension, Steve, he won’t have to deal with his wife and her problems.

Alas, no. Or at least, they don't do their big tours aboard Uriah anymore. They were going to present about three hours from me in 2014, but I was tired and it was a work night and I didn't go, thinking they would make a stop closer to me some other time. Shortly afterwards they sold Uriah and said they were done with the tours.

I feel like those people in '77 who were like, "Nah, I'll see Elvis next time around." It's my greatest FJ regret. :(

Hmm. I predict:

Baby Bontrager-Maxwell gets a family name. Marlin? Chelsy doesn't get pregnant again in 2019.

Melanie gives birth in March or April after having complications. Caleb Thomas or Deborah Patience.

Anna Marie has another baby, sooner rather than later. Something biblical but "typical."

No pregnancy for Joe and Elissa

Jesse gets married, and they successfully keep it secret up until the wedding because her family doesn't blog

Sarah's misery deepens. She makes a hilariously (to us) snippy blog comment related to one of: 1. the Moody books 2. Ellie 3. Chelsy. Writing continues.

Anna and Mary don't do anything. I almost thought one of them would have a new project, but these are the Maxwells.

I think they're the "J family" from Denver mentioned in these posts:

Seems like the Maxwells have known them for some time, as there are a few references to them from before that.

Thanks. It looks like one girl is named Laura and they live outside Denver. I see they are playing Dutch Blitz. I wonder if they have some Mennonite or Amish family.

A scheduling snafu leads Teri to schedule time to plan to schedule taking the grandkids to the park on the day they had planned to schedule cleaning the garage. This mixup will, through a series of events, lead to Teri getting arrested for illegal cockfighting.

I rarely laugh out loud, but when I do, even my neighbors can hear me.

Thank you, I love you!

John and Chelsy have a boy, Robert John called Robbie.

Nathan and Melanie have a girl, they will be disappointed she is a girl but name her something with a C because they also think this is Melanie's last. Charlotte maybe. She will be early but not too early, April 22nd. There will be bedrest.

Chris and Anna will have a girl in early July. Eve Patience.

They will hike and and make some remark about special sibling time. One married family will come with them and they will repeatedly act like they are not immediate family.

There will be a surprise wedding in August between one of the sibling of that family that went caroling with them. They will point that out during the wedding saying they hinted at it. They might go crazy and have a double sibling wedding, inspired by the bontragers. One couple will seem to like each other, one will seem more arranged by parents desperate to marry a mid 20's "old maid".

Sarah will ship out to help a friend having a new baby with too many other babies at home. She will try to write about it happily but sound sad and upset she is still single.

Ellie will escape, they will find her. It will the most thrilling adventure they have in a long time.

Teri will post some convoluted scheduling story about setting aside 15 minutes to color in a coloring book with the grandchildren.

They will mention a 5k they ran but it won't be an official one, iust something set up with the adult kids.

Around Thanksgiving or Christmas Elisa will announce baby number 3, she'll keep 2 and a bit years between kids.

Predictions: Jesse getting married.
A possible suitor for Anna (not announced) rejected for not knowing the color of the curtains in the Virgin Mary's aunt's house.

NR Anna has another boy.

Mary will be reminded of her long-ago pledge to learn the Bowed Psalter and will "purpose" to learn it properly" as  a requirement for Steve considering any suitors.

Terri will sneak a Pepsi and not repent.

Prediction (though probably not as soon as 2019, as Stevehovah seems to remain in good physical health, as negativity hasn’t eaten him up from the insides):

Stevehovah shuffles off his mortal coil and heads up to the Pearly Gates. St. Peter asks him to step aside and wait for God. God comes out, escorts Stevehovah to his private waiting room, and tells St. Peter, “Gonna be busy for quite a while. Gotta have a looooooooong talk with this jamoke.”

(Can you tell I’m a Universalist?)

Yeah, between his weekend away, with Steve as chaperone likely, and buying his house (debt free, of course), I'd be surprised if Jesse isn't courting right now.  If not, he's a least keeping his eye open for the young woman God (or Steve) has for him.

My predictions, after reading the entire blog while sick in bed for a few days (why I decided to read it, I honestly can't even say).

Jesse gets married sometime this spring or summer (I'd say no later than August). He bought his house in June and it seems the Maxwell men don't do that without someone in mind to court, and are usually married within a year of the house purchase. He's the first to rent his out though, but I'd guess he's courting right now and will be married shortly after his tenant's lease expires.

Anna gets married. Maybe just optimism on my part, but there have been a few mentions of her traveling or being busy lately. She could be a chaperone for Jesse, but I think he's been pictured when she's been traveling. The blog seems to be awfully quiet with news lately and Sarah hasn't claimed she's busy writing so I feel like there's big news they're keeping quiet.

If Anna does court, Gigi will move in with Teri and Steve, and the suitor will be offered the sale of Gigi's house to keep her nearby. This could happen if any of the girls find men, but I think the family has given up on Sarah, unfortunately.

As far as babies, I'll guess a boy for Chelsy and John, a girl for Melanie and Nathan, and another pregnancy for Anna Marie. Elissa is also a possibility for another pregnancy I guess- she was hidden in the Christmas pictures, but I'm holding out hope that if she does get pregnant this year it's not till way late in 2019 with the baby due in 2020.

This is of course in addition to the usual posts about 14ers, OCC, coffee, Auntie Time, and scheduling your life!

It really sums up the Maxwell philosophy that their idea of a gift for Ellie to enjoy is a leash.
