If I were a fundie...

Thinking for myself and making my own decisions based on those thoughts.

Learning from others, particularly those I don't agree with.

Humor. Sarcasm.

My sweats and jeans.

Reading what I want, no matter the subject matter.

Beer.

My college degree.

My public school education and all the people and experiences that came with it.

My friends & family, because if I were fundie, I don't think any of them would be hanging out with me.

R rated movies. Hell, any movie that doesn't supposedly make a Christian point.

My independence & freedom.

My job and the people I work with.

Going to haunted houses for Halloween.

Having cheesy, goofy Christmas decorations.

All the 'secular' aspects of Christmas and other holidays.

Pretty much, I would miss every single thing about my life that makes it worth living.

Reading what I want

Studying

The possibility of being financial independent

watching what I want on tv

wearing bikinis, tank tops and sundresses in the summer

wearing pants. I enjoy wearing skirts and dresses so I don't think that specific transition would be hugely difficult for me, but the implications of not being allowed to wear trouser bother me hugely

being able to have sex and relationships outside of marriage, in an egalitarian perspective

What I wouldn't miss are my present employment worries.

Me...

No seriously. I may enjoys somethings the fundies would love, but I am and always have been an independent, strong willed person. My entire personality would have likely been beaten out of me before I hit five.

I could never have been a fundie. I remember when I was a very little girl and the nuns told us it was a sin to watch the Ed Sullivan show because of the dancers, I knew how stupid that was.

-PANTS.

-Having to give up my life away from my parents, halfway around the world, to stay at home and wait for some guy

-Having a college education

-Being able to read/view what I want

-The ability to learn what I want, without being accused of trying to be smarter than men.

-Video games

-Alcohol

-Performing improvisational comedy

-Having time to myself

Cussing (guilty as charged)

Equal input and choices in my marriage

choice over my reproduction

public school for kids (if I have any)

choice of whether I want to adopt or not

Listening to whatever music I want

Pants

Freedom to learn what I want

Freedom to read or watch what I want (without a parent hovering over me)

Freedom to choose whether I want a career or to be a SAHM/SAHD

And most of all... I'd miss being able to do scientific research and have freedom of thought

Yep, after I posted my very small list, I realized I could have just answered by saying I'd miss everything that makes me, me.

Wow - if I went back to the fundie farm, I'd miss:

- voicing uncensored thoughts

- shorts (pants are fine outside of church with many of the Calvinistas, they just don't go for shorts or leggings)

- people paying attention to what I think

- reading romance novels, fantasy and other possibly objectionable items

- secular rock music

- TV
