Joy and Austin 25: Guest Starring Grandpa Munster

I'm hopeful Joy will wait 18 months from Gideon's birth to get pregnant again.  Only because I think that's what Jill's doing, and like mother, like daughter.

I won't be shocked when my hopes are dashed, though.

Shouldn't Joy wait a little longer after her c section? Yeah, I know. Jesus has it under control.

It depends. My doctor recommended 1 year before getting pregnant again. We might wait longer before we talk about trying and you obviously never know how fast or if it happens though.

Or did I read your post wrong and you referred to the idea she might be pregnant/trying already!

This shows that Joy has the autonomy to plan her husbands day. I keep seeing people talk about how controlling Austin is and how he dominates her. Men who control their wives don't like to have their days planned without their knowledge.  At least the true monsters some of my friends have had the misfortune of being married too or dated.

Seriously looks like tarot cards.  It’s a slippery slope Joy! ?.    ?

Now I'm imagining trying to do a tarot reading with Catan cards. "You feel like you're surrounded by sheep. Watch out for a strange man who wants to sabotage your grain production. You have a long road ahead of you."

@singsingsing I read your tarot readings on FJ, if anyone can do it you can!  I learned how to cast the bones years ago from an old man. I only do for myself, they are very accurate but not at all sweetness and light, you know what I mean.  They will call out your shit and people don’t like them.

Based on most of the research re: uterine rupture the general guidelines are: 6 months at a minimum (anything less than that and the odds of uterine rupture rise exponentially), 12 months if you don't mind having another c-section because VBAC rates are still relatively low, 18 months if you want to give yourself the best odds of a VBAC. I waited a year because I had to have a c-section regardless, but didn't get pregnant until 18 months.

I know someone who had a successful VBAC less than 18 months after her c section but she was recieving medical care through out the pregnancy and the hospital warned her that she may still need a C Section.

I hope both Joy and Austin wait at least 18 months before trying again, if not longer but they probably won't.

I saw a Reproductive Specialist this past spring who gave recommendations similar to what @AtlanticTugmentioned. He said the minimum he normally recommended* was one year for vaginal births, which gives the mother enough time to heal and replenish important nutrients. The minimum he gave for c-sections was 18 months. He didn’t mention whether that 18 months was for women hoping for VBACs or not, but that also wasn’t applicable to my situation as I had a vaginal birth with my daughter. I’d assume that the guidelines @AtlanticTug mentioned are likely pretty accurate though.

*I say “normally” here because each woman is unique and not everyone will be ready at those points.

My OB cleared me at a year post c section. So I think it is women to women. However she won't let me do a v bac. I'm super disappointed. She just said that with my history she's worried about me bleeding out again. I think I want out under though I found my c section to be extremely traumatic, no one should be awake while they're organs sit in a table next to them.

Anyway back on topic, she felt the scar and felt around internally and decided I had "healed remarkably well". So I guess there's thinfsvthey look for.

Unless they want to be. My MIL very much preferred being awake for her second and third c-sections. The first had been a true emergency c-section with a late premature birth (oddly enough, she was 34 weeks like I was when my daughter was born) due to an issue with the placenta - as in, baby needed to be taken immediately or else they both may have died. She was knocked out for it because it allowed them to start quicker. She’s grateful that she and her son were ok, but it was not a great experience for her and she really liked being awake for the next two.

(But again, experiences will absolutely vary. If you think getting knocked out will help you get through it better than I think that’s definitely something you should talk to your Doctor about when the time comes.)

True. Personally I completely disassociated for it and I don't remember meeting my son or hardly any of the next two days. The last thing I remember is having a anxiety attack on the OR table.

I was awake for both of mine and didn't find it traumatic at all. After #1 was born I was just so happy to not be in excruciating pain anymore, only two hours of sleep, in 40 hours, 22 hours of Pitocin induced labor and 4 hours of pushing meant I was DONE. I didn't care at that point HOW  they got him out as long as I got some sort of relief.  I kept falling asleep on the operating table and scaring everyone, but I was just exhausted, the adrenaline kicked in once he was here but for about 2 hours (in surgery and in recovery before anyone was let in)  I was just out of it.

I'm also not adverse to surgery, which is a good thing because I've had approximately 20 of them over the course of my life, including the 2 c/sections.

I do hope Joy waits for the spacing recommended by her doctor. I also hope she and Austin have a real heart to heart about having a hospital birth. I don't begrudge the Duggar daughters for preferring a home birth. I get concerned if its a dig in the heels, come hell or high water I will have a home birth.

Are you a wizard?

Alternatively, was he a wizard, and this is your backstory, which will come in handy when you inevitably follow a quest to fulfill an ancient prophecy?

He was a Medicine Man.  Some people would have called him a Shaman.  I’ve only met 2 real Shamins in my lifetime, the rest just think they are.  I tell people I know nothing, it’s better that way.  I’m not into people trying to make money off of it, its really a very solitary thing.  My fundy ex thought I was a witch, nope, not the same.  Ancient prophecies are best left alone too.   ?

Joy is promoting a lady named Jessica Ballinger on her insta story for her weight loss. Is she her sister in law? Shes is married to a Bob ballinger and has 8 kids. Well Joy certainly looks like she has lost weight.

Jessica is Joy’s sister-in-law, Meagan (Forsyth) Ballinger’s mother-in-law.

Okay, I did some digging because Joy's post put the fear of Rufus in me that she might be on the Plexus.

Method: I found Jessica Ballinger's Facebook page, where she has a post crediting her weight loss to another woman. I in turn visited that woman's page, where she shows multiple before-and-after photos of clients precious friends who, per the fine print under their photos, used a program called "Optimal 5&1."

Conclusion: Joy is on what appears to be an [MLM?] Jenny Craig-type program where you do five "fuelings" per day (mostly bars and shakes purchased in $350 lots), and they coach you and teach you how to make salmon:

 Yikes! I wonder if Joy got the program free or at a reduced price from Jessica in exchange for promising to drive potential victims customers to her via social media.

My post has been edited to reflect this, but I'd misread the site; the price is not per week, but rather the typical price for their assorted box of ~120 units of meal replacement items and snacks, so it's not as egregiously expensive as it looked at first. They also seem to sell in smaller lots, and it's more like $2.50 per bar.

I'm looking at their website right now and trying to figure out how long the box is actually supposed to last. I'm seeing stuff about five 'fuelings' per day which makes it seem like one box would last less than a month... and while $400/month is definitely a lot better than $400/week, it's still pretty pricey!

I hope this is safe and providing adequate nutrition. I'm so suspicious of these things. I mean, at least it's not Plexus, but... here's the warning from their website:

Do not use the OPTAVIA Program if you are pregnant. If you have a serious acute or chronic illness (e.g., heart attack, diabetes, cancer, liver disease, kidney disease, anorexia, bulimia, etc.) do not use the OPTAVIA Program until your healthcare provider says you have recovered or that your condition is stabilized. The Optimal Weight 5 & 1 PlanTM is NOT appropriate for teens (13 to 18 years of age), sedentary older adults (65 years and older), nursing mothers, people with gout, some people with diabetes, and those who exercise more than 45 minutes per day. For special medical or dietary needs, refer to our program guides online.

I'm not here to police other women's bodies or choices, but hopefully she's read the fine print and isn't putting herself at risk if she's still nursing, and I would hope that if she becomes pregnant again she'll stop the program. JRod continuing to consume Plexus all through her pregnancy makes me somewhat pessimistic.
