Did they do some sort of fake big donation? Was it pretending to donate clothes or toys for the cameras and then packed it all up?

I do know several years ago when that area got hit with an ice storm JD was out clearing trees and helping people get their properties cleaned up. I asked if it was him because he wanted to help or because it was part of his job (fire or constable) and the people thought it was just him. I did enjoy the rant about how worthless his dad is that came with the story.

Yes. They were at the Cross Church thrift shop, IIRC. Once the cameras left, the "donations" for the ( conveniently) Hispanic family were returned to the shelves.

Don't forget them showing up in I think it was Mississippi to visit Tornado victims and give them their book or pamplets. There's something that Tornado victims need. Why not being food, blankets, clothes, etc? Or turd dropping of that big stuffed animal at some women's clinic or something. That'll be more helpful then diapers, clothes, food, money, etc.

That is absolutely despicable to do a fake donation to a family in need. How could they possible justify that? What is wrong with them?

To be fair, the family they ‘donated’ to was in on the gig since the whole ‘donation’ was staged. But yeah, to willingly participate in a staged act of charity is despicable. Yet very Duggary at the same time.

Didn't they do a fundraiser for the hospital where Josie was in the NICU? Although as I recall, the yard sale included a lot of beat-up junk from the warehouse...

Finger and Jessa worked for a day or two at a coffee shop to raise donations for an orphanage in Guatemala (I think it was Guatemala at least).

Jessa's baby shower with Henry went to some sort of home for unwed mothers (I don't actually know what it was, but they were donating baby things).

Wasn't that the time that someone from here went there and tried to tape conversations with a couple of the older children?  Didn't work out, as they announced their plans, right up to what they were going to wear, and someone else told the Duggars about it.  The woman was removed from the event and had her phone and her recording device confiscated.  I think she said she never got them back from the police, either.  I think she stopped coming here after that.  I was pretty new here at the time.

Holy crap, now THAT'S a blast from the past! I had somehow completely forgotten about that incident until now. But yeah, I believe that was during the giant flea market the Duggars held a few years ago. She had a recording device hidden in a pen. It was pretty sketchy. Actually, I think it was a spy camera and she was planning on approaching the kids and asking them questions while secretly recording them.

There was also book signing involved.

No good ever comes from touching the poop.  let's be good fjers, hold hands, and watch from a safe distance  :)

And I guess if they are getting paid (filmed) to do it, it sort of negates the whole notion of generosity. I mean most of us don’t consider a paid job a volunteer endeavor. Maybe the Duggars are volunteering and generous of their time, talents and treasures 24/7 and that’s why they can’t hold regular jobs, LOL!

It’s too bad they are such well honed lying liars who lie because it’s very difficult to give any of them the benefit of the doubt.

At Henry's shower they had donations to a pregnancy center instead of gifts. Which seems nice...and maybe it is. But these pregnancy centers worry me because often they are anti-abortion places that either offer no info or false info on abortion and serve to influence people that having the baby is the only option. And perhaps these places do offer practical assistance to mothers in need...but they also support pushing out things like Planned Parenthood centers around the country so that politicians trying to shut down PP can say "there are lots of other "women's health" centers all around the country, we don't need PP and the like, they are evil and unnecessary". In reality, there are far too many gaps between actual comprehensive women's clinics and there is not nearly enough access to them for people that really need them. And a pregnancy centre that only focuses on making sure women deliver their babies is not equal to something like PP that offers a host of healthcare options for those who can't access healthcare in other ways. So these pregnancy centers can seem  nice but in actuality they serve  as propaganda that in the long run really hurt women's health care.

*recently I was watching "sweet home sextuplets" and the mother wanted to put on a 5k for charity "to give back" and the proceeds went to some pregnancy center. I looked it up and sure enough the website said they didn't offer abortions or referrals but it did have a long list of different abortion procedures and "facts" that seemed to be there to scare and deflect people away from that.  After having sextuplets why not do a 5k for the NICU of the hospital that successfully delivered your 6 babies? I dunno, I got the impression from them that they were horrified, shocked and disgusted that their doctors told them about selective reduction since she was carrying 6 babies (which is something you absolutely have to consider if carrying multiples like that) and they seemed so repulsed. I realize it would be a hard situation for anyone but it seems like they are so totally against abortion that even considering it in a situation where the mother and other babies might die if the number is not reduced is just Wrong and therefore even the doctors saving you and your kids lives are looked on with suspicion. I see supporting these pregnancy centers as an indirect way to support the extreme pro-life political stance without coming out and saying it directly or with a sign at a rally.

You mean the tornado in Joplin? Not that i care to support the duggars but they went and helped... i dont know if they also gave books/tracts but the oldest four kids went looking for survivors and helping with the clean up iirc. Its the only disaster though, i am aware of them doing anything to help in since. Its one area I will give the Bates boys credit.

From what I remember hearing from someone who was in Joplin, the Duggars were mostly just in the way. Small children toddling around debris, girls in flip flops, the celebrity photo ops, etc.

Not good at the "secretly" thing if she was announcing her every move.

Yep. And police were called and she was escorted off the premises. It was the same poster who wanted to have her brother ask Jinger on a date and then laugh at Jinger when she accepted and they told her it was a joke to see her cry. The same poster who bragged about fooling us with a fake blog she posted. And the same poster who offered to collect and deliver sympathy letters for the Duggar girls after the molestation incidents became public. People who were victims of abuse were pouring their hearts out before someone thankfully stepped in and told them the poster's history.

She was...something.

Oy. Why did they assume she’d say yes? Isn’t she the one who said a bunch of weirdos have approached JB about them?   She probably would have said “no” and turned around and rolled her eyes or told him “ask my father” to get rid of him. And then the poster’s brother would cry.

That is awful. I don't like the Duggars very much, but I wouldn't wish that on them.

I just found the post again. I had it wrong, but it's still pretty bad. She wanted to film while her brother asked JB to ask her out and JB said "hell no" and then she was going to sell it on ebay (???) If Jinger said yes or the other girls got jealous that was just a cool side story.

Thankfully, even back then there were many people telling her this was a bad idea and unfair to Jinger.

She was escorted off of the premises of the Duggar compound for interviewing the kids and secretly (or not so secretly) recording it and did start a thread for letters for the Duggar girls.

She sounds like she would give J-Rod a run for her money in the nutter category.

When I first found FJ one of the first things I learned was that this site doesn't condone batshit crazy antics like that and it's not cool to stalk and harass and fuck around with people like the Duggars IRL like that thinking you are justified in doing so just because of who they are.

And that if you are going to pull that shit you don't do so as a representative of FJ and you sure as shit don't bring those receipts back here.

It's one of the reasons I joined.
