A few weeks ago, someone posted a petition on Change.org which is asking Amazon to remove TTUAC and other books that advocate child abuse from their store. I signed the petition and received this update in my email today. If anyone fits what the New York Times is looking for, you may want to follow up on this.

You have received the following message about "Amazon: Refuse to carry books which advocate the physical abuse of children." on Change.org

Amazon Petition - Interest from the New York Times - Can you help?

Dear Petition Signatories

Exciting things are happening today with this petition to Amazon!

The New York Times are interested in covering the story and have been in contact with me in the past hour.

They would very much like to hear from anyone who has signed the petition who has a direct experience of the parenting methods of the Pearls, authors of To Train Up A Child, or who has witnessed these methods.

I realise that this is an incredibly difficult subject matter but if you have experience of these methods (or indeed of any similar book), would you please be good enough to contact me as a matter of urgency via my email:

mamamule@hotmail.co.uk

It seems possible that these books and their methods are going to be placed under an international spotlight, all thanks to you and your support so far.

I cannot thank you all enough for signing.

Best wishes for now, and I look forward to hearing from you if you can help in any way,

Milli Hill

Thank you for posting this! I know there have to be people reading here (even if lurking) that used these methods with their children or had them used by their parents.

That's great news. I wonder if that email has been brought to the attention of NLQ - there are lots of regretful ex-Pearlites and former sufferers of Pearlite abuse over there, who might be able to contribute.

Feel free to share it with anyone who might be interested. I thought a lot of folks here would be interested. It seems like the media attention on the Pearls is snowballing. Maybe now they'll be stopped.

This is good news. I hope they do real digging into this issue, and don't just leave the story at "they said, we said."

Good point. Anyone interested might want to verify it with the NY Times, if possible.

ETA: I emailed the NY Times. I will post any response that I receive.

I had signed the petition, and got the same email today. I'd love to know if we can verify that the NY Times is involved.

I've been trying to look up Milli Hill everywhere and can't find anyone by that name.

And "mamamule" just doesn't seem like the type of email a journalist would send around.

I didn't think she was the journalist...I assumed she was the creator of the petition.

It's possible that I misunderstood the e-mail.

Mamamule is a British blogger. I found her easily when first googling from this thread, I'll look her up again.....

ETA: you can get to her blog by clicking in the link on the change.org petition:

Here is another place she writess: her photo and contact details are available. http://redroom.com/member/milli-hill/bl ... -offensive

V good point though that the NYT journalist details should be provided.
