I can't with the bell sleeves. I'd drag them through EVERYTHING and they'd get in my way.

DAT KISS THO. I bet a few people needed to go to the prayer closet after watching that.

I think Josiah looked happier in the videos than in the pictures. I think it's possible that he may be fond of Lauren and even happy to be marrying her, but just not happy in general, if that makes sense. It's obvious his spirit has been broken, and if there was ever a chance to doubt it, the THs in the episode confirmed it. Maybe he just doesn't feel free to be himself and let his personality out. He has to be a mature headship now, and that wasn't the way he wanted things to be. He tried to keep the silliness to a minimum out of respect for her at the wedding with no pranks, so maybe he was overly aware of controlling his urges to be goofy.

At least their vows said "IF we have children..." and didn't say anything about leaving the number up to God. Maybe there is hope for them..?

Carrying her down the aisle like that was something else... I do commend the athleticism involved.

On the plus side, I'd never do the washing up ;)

What Michelle's dress (or one very similar) looks like on a model.

I like that lattice detailing. This is also a dress shape I usually like. But as I am a similar age and body type as Michelle , it’s making me rethink it.

What did Lauren’s mother mean that she will have 2 important days in her life? The wedding being one, what is the other?

I would guess accepting  Jesus would be the most important day in  a  person like Lana Swanson's life.

I think Michelle's dress is fine and would have been quite lovely on someone else.  I think the problem is that it's all wrong for Michelle's body.  Michelle is both short and VERY petite.  She MIGHT have been able to pull a dress like this off if she had it tailored to match her proportions, but it's Michelle, so she didn't.  And because the dress is hitting her at the wrong points, it makes her look even shorter.  The dress should also be fitted in some areas.  That's part of the look.  It's not designed to be as loose the way Michelle wore it, so because the fit is off, it creates the illusion that Michelle is much bigger than she is.  All in all, it just overwhelms her body in all the wrong ways.

The dress and idea are fine, but it's the typical Duggar problem of half-assing the execution.

If you want to wear a loose, modest dress, buy a loosely fitted modest dress.  They're in style right now, so there are PLENTY to choose from.  If you want to wear something with more structure and fit, buy something with structure and fit.

But trying to make a dress into something it simply isn't rarely ends well.

Between the body con wedding dress and the big dip first kiss this felt almost like a non-fundie wedding. I now know I spend too much time here though because the first thing I thought after watching was ‘What is FJ going to say about this?’ And then I proceed to predict responses with startlingly accuracy ;)

Seriously though, that kiss would have made ME feel uncomfortable even without the dad watching from inches away. These weddings never disappoint on the AKWARD scale.

I did get a sense of attraction or chemistry between them. There was the TH moment where it looked like they were going to kiss right before Josiah made the weird face to break the moment. And the accidental front/side hug at the TTH as well - it looked like a natural instinct for them to go for the front hug before they corrected themselves. There were also a bunch of little glances and grins that they exchanged during the ceremony as well.

Someone mentioned it being weird how his siblings used the past tense when talking about Josiah being a prankster, etc. I didn’t find it weird because they were recalling old stories about him. It would have been weird to use the present tense in that context. Plus, Jason pointed out that while he’s a bit quieter now that he’s matured a bit he’s still Josiah - which to me indicates he’s still a big goofball in some ways.

I liked the little moment between Josiah and Joseph. I think Joseph’s advice - to honor your wife - was actually pretty good. And I like that they said they loved each other after hugging it out as well. I think he chose well when picking a Best Man.

The moment between Lauren and her father during the first look seemed very genuine to me. I like that they were alternating between joking around and getting a bit emotional. The way she wiped his tears was a bit odd, but didn’t seem super weird or anything to me.

The ceremony was fine to me. I didn’t see the desperation or sadness others have noted. I do think Josiah was trying hard to be serious and hold any big emotions in and that might be what people noticed off about him. I think Lauren was emotional as well and that the weirdness with her vows was partly due to her trying hard to speak clearly and loud enough for people to hear (the vows were a bit weird though.) Her voice is very breathy (not her fault) and that could make it a bit tough to hear her if she’s very emotional. I think she was likely kind of nervous as well, even though she told her mom she wasn’t. There was a lot of attention focused on her and that can be a bit overwhelming for someone not used to it.

Hot damn! That first kiss was... dare I say... sexy? Lol! But seriously, that wasn’t bad at all. Ten bucks says they asked for advice and/or discussed the kiss ahead of time.

TL;DR - I didn’t see anything that seemed super off about the wedding or the couple. I think Josiah was genuinely trying his best not to goof off or get super emotional during the ceremony, possibly out of respect for Lauren and wanting the day to be a nice one. I think that’s what people noticed when they said he was acting weird or sad.

Our last name starts with D and when we got married my husband made a giant wooden (letter) D for our guests to sign that now hangs in our house. We make a lot of giant D jokes, so you're definitely not the only one :)

In our state they put letters, first on the license plate, one year,we renewed, they sent the license plate in the mail.

The first three letter were: DCK.Even with one letter missing,Mr Melon joked "Oh,yeah, that's me".

Another time I went to the store some teen boys walk by as I am putting bags in the car...they start snickering..I was puzzled then the license plate :DCK...I knew then what they were laughing about..lol.

I just watched the wedding.

Josiah seemed happy to be getting married and Josiah definitely has matured a lot. He also seemed to be extra serious(For Josiah) because he was taking his wedding seriously. That's something you should take seriously. They both seemed much happier then they did in the pictures/other videos. I didn't sense anything off about either of them other then the standard 'this is a messed up cult' stuff.

Not a fan of the bridesmaids dresses but they weren't bad. Loved Lauren's dress now that we got a better look at it.

Michelle looked crazy. I don't personally like wearing bell sleeves but it wasn't necessarily a terrible dress. Michelle isn't a bad looking lady. Just wasn't the right dress for her.

Seemed to be a rather large wedding. Was it bigger then Joe and Kendra's?

Regarding Lauren's mom's comment, she didn't say "day," she said "it's the second-most important decision you'll make." The most important decision to her is being a Christian, the second most is deciding who to marry.

Initially, looking at it, I thought I was looking at a lesbian wedding.

Wait, what?  I've had an actual lesbian wedding (well, civil partnership ceremony, as lesbians haven't had the right to marry until recently) and it looked nothing like that.  What on earth do you mean?

ETA I thought the pic Pecans was referring to was the one with Michelle and Mrs Swanson in pink on either side of Josiah and was very confused

I'm assuming she thought it was a lesbian wedding because there were 2 brides.  I'll admit if I see a wedding of any style and there are 2 women in wedding dresses I assume they are marrying one another.

I don't know how you get "2 women in wedding dresses" from those two dresses, at all, but I guess things are more different in the USA than I thought.  And I'm laughing out loud at the idea of a man with a woman on each arm = lesbians...

The pic I see has 2 women in white dresses. 2 women in black on one side and a woman and 2 girls on the other one. I can see why soneone would think that. Also, no men.

Apparently me and pp  see the same pic and you see a different one though lol

I don't think we are talking about the same photo.  The were talking about the one with the double wedding, the photo has no men in it.  I'm trying to quote both you and the original photo, but its not working.

Wrong photo.  :) I think @Pecansforeveryone was referring to the Boyer and Bontrager double wedding photo with two obvious brides.

Not the Josiah and what's-her-face nuptials with the groom escorting the two pink-clad mums down the aisle.

Yes, bell sleeves are very trendy in the US now too, it feels like every other item at Old Navy and Target have those. I admit I have like 4 bell sleeve tops now. We also saw them in other fundie weddings - Dan + Deena Dillard's bridesmaids (including Jill), the Bontrager/Bowers double wedding bridesmaids (see pic below):

This is the photo everyone was talking about.

Re that photo of JD and Abbie on the first page: it’s nice to see a fundie guy do the devoted-partner stare, as opposed to the other way round. I’m sure Abbie does it a lot to him, though.

@Palimpsest Thank you!  I got confused by the references, and thought it was the 2-in-pink photo that was the "lesbian" wedding, and was very confused indeed!

Yep, that one doesn't look at all like a lesbian wedding.  The hazards of talking on the internet can lead to really odd conclusions. You must have thought we were crazy.
