... who can't make it through a single one of Amber's video's? I try and try, but I just can't do it!

You are not the only one. I try so hard, but the "cutesy" back and forth with her husband bugs me! Just get to the point!

Phew. When there were no replies I thought I just had a really low tolerance for random facial expressions. The back-and-forth is so tedious! The most recent one, where she's answering all these questions about how they're going to raise the as-yet-unbornling (oh, honey, it's fine and dandy to say you're never gonna use a pacifier... until the thing is still nursing for the 8th straight hour after you pushed it out and you haven't slept yet. Been there, and there is NO SHAME.)... anyway, my eyes almost rolled right outta my skull.

"oh, but don't you know, you're OPPRESSED!"

I've never made it right through a video.

And yet I can't stop going back.

I have basically stopped watching the videos. I visit the blog to see how far along she is and once she has the baby, I may watch a video of it. I may have to watch the latest one about the pacifier though. That sounds more interesting then 7 minutes of how big the baby is. Seriously, do they have nothing exciting to report?!

This is for the one with the videos. She has a homemaker blog too, she has a button for it on the Norway site. Her husband Reuben has a blog called "Spreading the Fragrance" (which always sounds, to me, like a rude thing to do...)

Don't get me wrong, I like them. They're a cute couple and not particularly "dangerous" as Fundies. It's just that 7 minutes of cutesy looks at the camera, "ummmmm"'s and giggling is a bit....challenging. For me anyway. Unless I've been :obscene-smokingjoint: ;)

Oh wow. First time I ever saw this. Her voice is annoying! Why do people think people care about watching strangers make videos on the internet?? Why do I want to watch them??? Aaaaaarg!!

Edit: WAIT...it's 17 minutes long!!!!????? Wow

It kept freezing up for me.

Also, I have little patience for dim bulbs.

What's the objection to using a pacifier anyway? I have two babies and this one has never come up in the mommy wars for me...

I generally can't watch any blogger's videos. I can never get past the thought that they're being exhibitionists. Also if the blog content isn't any good, why would a video be any different? Reading, I can skim and find the snark worthy material or give up and find something else to read.

I'm not target audience though. The only reason I read any of these blogs is for entertainment and gawking, not because I want their opinion or think they have something to offer me.

I watched their videos in the beginning of the pregnancy, but too soon it became, "so what do we need to talk about?" and "amber's so silly, silly pregnant lady," along with too much promotional stuff, and I gave up watching.

I thought they were cute at first. Now I think they're pretty damn weird, and she's pretty damn sheltered.

I feel cheated because he posted a photo of the latter but not the former.

Future dental problems and difficulty getting the kid to give it up, I believe. Although the AAP now recommends putting your baby to sleep with one to help prevent SIDS.

Wow, never heard any of that about dental problems. I took my first kid's away at 6 months and it was no problem (and he only had two teeth). The second one is 2 months old and he loves that freakin thing. I am pro-paci!

When she mentioned the pacifier thing, I thought it was because she's planning to breastfeed. Some people attest that using a pacifier can cause nipple confusion or cause mom to mom dry up (because mom should be paci, so milk is stimulated). As for the theory that a baby might take a paci even if it should be having a feed, I think it'd have to be a pretty dumb baby to suck itself happily into starvation on a plastic nipple - most children I've known can tell the difference quite easily between the real thing and a pacifier. But what do I know, I've only had 2, not 10 :teasing-binkybaby: (can you believe there's a smiley for that!?)

Aw crap. She picked the girl name that is my second daughter's. Please don't snark on it!

At least she picked decent names.

I've been watching the video in small bits and just got to "how many kids"

I did not realize these two were QF. Yikes.

Also, all their sarcasm about their stay at home/homeschooling/etc choices gets really annoying.

I was wondering, does anybody know if Amber comes from a quiverfull/fundie home? I know nothing about her background, as I only found out about her maybe 18 months ago, shortly after they married and she moved to Norway to be with Reuben. I think it's safe to say he's from a fundie family, but I'm not sure about Amber. Her blog, "Homemaker By Choice", kind of implies that, for her, it's a lifestyle rather than an obligation or expectation, as it would be if her mother was also quiverfull. Also, IIRC, some of her early videos were kind of like reviews of concepts related to serving at home, having a 'godly' marriage, etc., kind of like how new vegans try and convince everyone else of their neat new lifestyle*, I just got that impression. She doesn't talk much about her parents or family from what I've seen, even in that weely video about a month ago where her brother had JUST arrived from the States for a visit, she was just like, "oh, and my brother's here. And the baby is the size of a papaya and hurts my ribs."

*No offence to vegans, as I am striving to be vegany myself, I just can't find enough good bean recipes yet :S I'm getting there though ;)
