Wow, I thought I was old ;-)
My earliest memory of a major tragedy was JFK assasination.  I was 10.  

Right behind you, @BadWolf. You and I are the same age, @NicePair. I remember Kennedy’s assassination, but it was seeing Lee Harvey Oswald murdered on live TV that shocked me. I do remember earlier events, particularly Mercury and Gemini spacecraft/Saturn rocket launches, because my dad and I would be up super early to watch them. He was working in the aerospace industry, so I had some encouragement with my interest in space science.

Don't bite my head off. I am not a leg humper and I do not support the cult. I must say, however, that Kendra on her honeymoon was interested in things and seemed invested in trying new things.  I thought she seemed like someone it might be okay to speak to for a few minutes.

I just turned 24 yesterday, so definitely not!  

I believe I've posted about this before, but my earliest (news) memories are France winning the World Cup in 1998, the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, and 9/11.
