Mr & Mrs Jill Duggar 60: The Shilling Dillards

No to Jessa's dress on Jill . It looks uncomfortable with that high waisted belt. + it doesn't seem like the most practical dress for a nursing mother.

Meh, it looks like she just wore it to church.  I'm sure Sam's not nursing as frequently now that he's almost a year old, so she could easily time what she wears with his nursing schedule. I didn't always wear "nursing-friendly" clothing, either. If you're only going to be out a couple of hours, it's truly NBD.

My college roommate used to say it... I'm not sure where she got it from. I just checked, possibly Johnny Carson, although several versions exist.

Sounds like a curse Sophia Petrillo would use.

Is that white fabric at the bottom the modest shield?!

That was my thought.

Yes. Jana added that to all the dresses to hide their knees.

Does anyone ever wonder what's up with Derick's stepfather? I know he's not interested in being filmed, which is great, but it's like it goes beyond that, almost like he's a complete non-entity in their lives. Hopefully it's just that he's really, really awesome at avoiding the spotlight. But that in turn makes me wonder how he feels about his wife's activities.

Yes, its weird how he's never mentioned. Its fine that he's doesn't want to be filmed. But its weird that Derick and Cathy never mention him. Cathy especially. You'd think she'd mention her husband from time to time. What does he think of Cathy's activities? Does he agree with her? Disagree. What does he think of Derick?  What does Derick think of him? Do they have a relationship or not?

it has to be more then that I mean he isn't even in family pictures take this one from Christmas I'm not sure Cathy has ever posted a picture of him. I have to wonder if she just rushed off an married for the sake of being married and the boys never excepted him.

I couldn’t get Jill’s casserole fail out of my mind, so in the interest of making the world a better place, I present...

 Florentine Breakfast Casserole

bag of tater tots (I used Alexia roasted garlic and black pepper “potato puffs,” which do not taste like garlic at all.)

1 lb breakfast sausage (I used Jimmy Dean Regular)

9 oz frozen chopped spinach

4 (or more) eggs

1/2 cup milk

8 oz shredded cheese, 1/2 cup reserved (I used an Italian 7-cheese blend)

Preheat oven to 350. Spread tots on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes (or longer, to get them crispy, or not at all, if you don’t want to bother). Brown sausage and drain on paper towels. In the same skillet, cook spinach until it’s thawed and the water has evaporated. In a large bowl, beat eggs and whisk in milk. (You could definitely add more eggs - Jill used 12.) Mix in spinach, cheese, and sausage. Add as many tots as you like. I put in maybe two cups. Spread evenly in a baking pan - I used a 9x9 pan. You could also put the tots under or over the mixture in the pan. Sprinkle with reserved cheese. Bake until egg mixture and tots are cooked. I baked it for 15 minutes, but I had pre-baked the tots. They will not be crispy.

For people who were kicked out  didn't want to be part of a reality tv show, Derdick and Jill really like to post pictures, blogposts, and numerous useless videos of themselves online...

What is that behind pistol Pete's head? Almost looks like a tattoo but maybe it's part of the doll?

Eta: I apologize for not using a spoiler and subjecting you all to looking at this dbag

I had to look at it blown up a bunch but it's the tag hanging from Pete. you can see it more clearly when you look at Izzy's photo. on Derick it's laying flat and has a shadow so it does look like a tattoo LOL

I think that's a tag, plus its shadow.

If I never see that dirty armpit picture again, it will be too soon. I just threw up a little bit in my mouth. Barf.

Regarding the no mention of the step-dad. To be fair (and I hate that I look like I'm siding with the Dillard crew), my family and I are forbidden from talking about or posting pictures of my sister-in-law and niece on any social media per my SIL's request after my niece was born. Although I think it's ridiculous, out of respect for my brother (who doesn't necessarily agree with the wife, but such is marriage give and take), we do not post, comment, share, anything about them.  So if I were in the public eye, this would probably appear odd and I am sure I have many friends who wonder why we never share anything about our families being together. That's why. The situation may be the same with the Dillards and, if so, I have to give them credit for respecting someone else's wishes.

that would be odd though because he has been seen on the show before. I don't think he's talked but he's been on camera.

I don't know anything about him really. I'm just offering an explanation. Maybe he was okay with it at first, then realized it sucked being in the public eye with these people and he changed his mind.  I don't know. Just offering thoughts.

I only recall him being on-camera once (at the big house where Jill/Dreck lived). He may have had a bad experience from that, or was the subject of ridicule/bullying about it in his personal life, which many have resulted in his saying, "no more."

Personally, we share as little as we can about our daughter and we requested that no one else share anything online (other than special occasions, like when my BIL and his wife shared a few photos from their wedding.) Our daughter is too young to decide what she wants shared for herself, so my husband and I both felt it was our responsibility to respect her privacy until she is able to choose. We also have extended family members on husband's side (mainly his mom’s grandparents and siblings) who we don’t have relationships with and who we don’t want having access to info about our kid - allowing more people to share stuff on a regular basis would make it a lot tougher for us to protect our daughter.* So on Facebook we pretty much limit sharing to just our profile and cover photos. Instagram we share more on because the privacy settings are so straightforward (and because those family members don’t do Instagram.)

That said, I think you made the right choice in respecting your SIL’s request. And I think it’s really good that your brother supported her despite not really agreeing as well. I feel like in situations like this both parents should be comfortable with the same level of sharing. If they don’t, I think not sharing a lot or anything is best - you can always share more later on, but once something is out there it’s tough to take it back.

*To be clear, none of them would physically harm our daughter, but his grandma has used our daughter as a pawn to get back into our lives at least once and they’re all either emotionally abusive or enable that behavior.

Does anyone else go to Jill’s Instagram page and really study the picture and post and try to figure out what people will find fault with it? I did that with her breakfast post and then read the comments. Apparently their chairs don’t match and a hat on the table is bad luck and Jill has her mouth closed because she caught all the flies... One part of me feels sorry for her; It looked like a happy family breakfast post. While the other part of me chuckles as I cannot stand their belief system. On this particular post I lean more towards the former.

Looking at Derick’s shirt, I wonder if those are holes rather than dirt marks? They look like the sort of holes that might come about from the rubbing of running regularly in one particular shirt

THE BRIDESMAIDS DRESS IS BACK!!!!

That dress would look so much better without the two extra layers at the bottom.

But modesty. :eleventy:

I was kinda hoping for a picture of Jill with how many months she is to complete the set.

Not that I really want to see more Jill, but I'm weird and want it to be complete!

For me, yes it looks like holes. A silly picture no doubt. He might be going for the poor look in case he has to grift again. BEC.
