Might the girls be going on a mission with Samaritan's Purse?--Rufus knows they love their shoeboxes: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/

How odd that they don't know if they will be gone 4 or 6 weeks. It seems very strange (and expensive), if they are going on a foreign mission, to not have a return airplane ticket already.

And lets hope they weren't  accosted by any heathens at the airport--Sarah's big fear!

Check out the extra fridge and huge freezer in the background of the first picture. I guess in their hay day when they had 4 teenage boys in the house, plus the 3 girls and mom and dad, they did need that much space. But I can't imagine now, with just 5 adults around that they need that much cold food storage. Especially considering they cook such small portions for everyone.

They really customized their home for big family living - large kitchen with spacious eating area, large family room, large bedrooms (but just 3! Because nobody sleeps alone in that cult), lots of storage, etc.

I will put money down that they will eventually swap houses with Chris, whose brood just keeps growing. Not in the near future, but eventually.

They do dearly love that "cause", but isn't it early in the year for that?

Do the sisters have any skills that might be helpful in a ministry?

I'm hoping they'll post pictures now and again that will give it away, like John did.

Just because you hope for that, I guarantee they will do everything possible to obscure any hints.

These people lack creativity because they use up their energy on control.

The heads-together shots at home and at the airport once again shows that. No creativity.

Of Course, they’d say they had the grown women switch sides—& got pretty outrageously **different** looks, huh? HUH?!

They didn't say they were going to travel internationally.

Samaritan's Purse is a possibility.  It isn't just shoe boxes.  Anna and Mary might be on a construction project in the US:  https://www.samaritanspurse.org/our-ministry/nam/

Or perhaps they are taking kids through the "Greatest Journey" at the Greta Home in Haiti.

Or something completely different!

Oh, you might be on to something here.  The Barbuda project can last up to 4 weeks and they have one starting tomorrow, June 2.

They both have experience assisting their brothers on their construction projects, so they'd fit the experience criteria.

Most likely they are helping some fundie woman with a passel of young kids who just gave birth or is about to I.e the Corrals and its beneath the penis owner who is the head of household to help out.

Just checked out the Barbuda page. Volunteers' expenses are all paid but the work conditions--gak!!!! Good for Annanmary if that's the kind of thing they are doing.  But it reads like something way less fun than Maxhell. Those poor sisters......

But I would assume that safety rules for a construction project like Barbuda would include wearing appropriate attire, ie pants. Long skirts would absolutely be a hazard, and I don't believe these women would give up the skirts even for a mission trip.

Maybe they're not disclosing because in reality, Anna and Mary are going on a trip to Australia where they'll be hiding out from jewel thieves who are after them because it turns out that Anna is inadvertently in possession of a priceless diamond they were trying to steal, and they'll wear adorable coordinating outfits and commence godly courtships with hot Aussie boys with frosted tips and nonthreatening facial features.

Or they're going on a mission trip to Italy, where they'll meet a cute Italian boy named Paolo who encourages them to play hooky from their mission and takes them on picturesque wacky adventures all over Rome, and through a series of misunderstandings, they are mistaken for two Italian pop stars who are supposed to be collaborating with Paolo, BUT!!!! it turns out that Paolo is a lip-syncing, lying song thief who wants to discredit the REAL pop stars! But Anna and Mary sing Trust Eeeeeeeeen Obeeeeyyyyy to a sold-out stadium in a beautiful quartet with the Italian pop sensations they were mistaken for, and they also realize their love for two of the Arndt brothers and they stare adoringly at one another onstage because touching is sinful.

Oh my glob, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a clown without makeup. That is deeply unsettling. :my_confused:

I found a site that lists short-term mission trips. One trip focuses on computer skills training in Costa Rica and requires advanced Spanish language skills. I have vague memories of one of the Maxwell man-boys asking a hotel housekeeper for some ridiculous number of towels because he was trying to ask in Spanish. Does that mean they kept up on the Spanish lessons? Who knows.

While I find it unlikely the Maxwell women would take that trip, it's an interesting thought. It's much more likely they are going on a trip associated with an organization they already know.

I think you're right about that, @Lisafer.  Many supporters of Samaritan's Purse would have no problem with wearing appropriate clothing -even the women who want to volunteer.

I'm kind of hoping it's a husband finding trip disguised as a "mission trip" - like maybe Steve got to know some guys over the phone or email or something and Anna and Mary are going away for whirlwind courtships of 4-6 weeks (hence not knowing the exact amount of time) and will come home engaged.

Interesting thought!!  Didn't think of that till now.

I wonder how they will deal with being away from the family. It must be odd, they’ve never even gone to stay with grandparents or aunts and uncles for a weekend or so.

I guess Sarah will get a taste of what’s it’ll be like just being with Steve and Terie all day once her sisters are married.

And Jessie may be there but I get the feeling that, like John, he isn’t home all day like the girls are.

I just assumed Jesse went with them but it wasn’t mentioned in order to make it look like Anna and Mary can travel somewhere alone. I have a hard time believing they are allowed to travel alone wherever they are meeting up with the mission group as I highly doubt the mission group is meeting in their area. I could see them putting posts on the blog to make it seem Jesse is still at home.

Also, could Mary and Anna have ironed their skirts? I try to avoid ironing but I cannot go out in public in clothing that wrinkled.

You would think they would go with a more comfortable and stretchy skirt for a plane ride. I hate airplane travel because it’s so uncomfortable. So I tend to wear my most comfortable clothing. They should have worn a stretchy work out skirt. I remember my mom telling me that people used to dress up for plane travel. However planes were probably more comfortable back then too. I wear comfy clothes on a plane. No way am I dressing up to be cramped and squished for hours.

Yes. I bet socalrules is right that in that Jesse Did go with Annanmary. Of course, now that I think of it.  Didn't John go with them last year?  Think he did.  But, honestly, why so hole-in-the-corner mysterious about everything. Maybe it's their only pleasure. Maybe it's f*n for them to keep us guessing. But news flash, I don't care all that much. The blogs, articles and pics are enough to keep me both entertained and  mostly angered.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.
