What type of law do you think Derick would want to practice? He could focus on real estate and work with the Austin's flipping business.

He could open his own firm, but thats a hard road as well, and you need to bring in clients.

I imagine he wants to do constitutional law, to protect the persecuted christians.

Before anyone gets carried away, following someone or something via social media doesn’t mean much of anything. If he’s been following them awhile (which someone mentioned being the case) then he may be using that more as a way to keep current on legal topics he finds relevant or interesting (like whether he can deny service to Teh Gayz if he ever opened a bakery.) I mean, he has to know who to rant against if he’s going to be an effective racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, sexist, homophobic, and transphobic preacher. :pb_rollseyes:

As for non-family friends - Jill was a Bridesmaid for Rachel Tuuk when Rachel got married early this year in Texas. Rachel was the Student Midwife present during Jill’s labor with Izzy - I believe they met through that Texas School Jill did some classes and exams through. She’s also posted multiple times about another family with a daughter named Aivah. She used the hashtag “proudmadrina” on the most recent one about Aivah’s kindergarten graduation (which Jill and the boys appear to have attended), so they appear close enough for Jill to be the little girl’s Godmother.

Derick has posted about college friends in the past. He was a Groomsman for one of them (Stephen Jones) and another was in his wedding to Jill (I think his roommate was a Groomsman.) They also met up with someone who, I believe, was in Nepal with Derick this past fall during the DC trip. He was the one wearing stuff labeled Secret Service we discussed here.

I honestly don’t find it hard to believe either of them have friends. We find them obnoxious and intolerable, but that doesn’t mean everyone does. There are enough people who share their views out there to make it pretty likely that they have friends. They don’t focus on that on social media, but that’s because they mainly focus on family and “ministry” on their social media instead. I usually just post about my family on Instagram too, mainly my daughter, nephew, and their dogs - looking at it, you wouldn’t guess I have friends, but I surprisingly do. :pb_lol:

The video isn't bad. Jill has her friend say they're at the mosque eating an Iraqi feast for Ramadan. Jill says the food is really good. The friend thanks her and says she's glad to see Jill there. Jill comments that she has to show Jessa the food. She has the friend tell her what the food is (shawarma and biryani). Then she pans over to Sam (who makes a great face), he just woke up due to all the excitement.

That is one cute kid!

I agree that it probably won't be private long. Can't feign persecution of a SuperChristian if all his hateful tweets only bounce around the walls of what will mostly just be an echo chamber full of huggers.

If the privacy change is in any way related to Cross Church like someone suggested, I imagine OfJill will resurface just about the same time the program ends and they don't offer him a position (assuming he can even stay private that long).

"We have decided to go another direction..."

"Cross Church didn't fire me. You can't get fired if you were never an employee."

"You have zero proof that I was pressured into making my account private. Temporarily limiting the size of my audience was always a part of our social media plan."

(Sorry, just thinking of what his responses to comments will be like...)

Hahaha spot on!!!!

It is possible that this is a special iftar celebration open to non-Muslims to show them what it's like. In that case, depending on the religious convictions of the organization, head-coverings aren't always required for non-Muslim women. However, I have only known of those kind of "open to all" iftar celebrations being held in large halls or someone's home, and not in mosques. So I'm not quite sure if this "no head covering for non-Muslim women" would apply during a celebration in a Mosque as well. But if it was a requirement I don't think Jill would have been let in without one, so I'm leaning towards "no head covering required for non-Muslim women".

I don't know anything about this but wouldn't you wear one simply out of respect? (I think I would but again, I know nothing about this)

I've always wondered about that. They took my uterus 3 years ago (and I agree 100%....BEST SURGERY EVER!! It saved my life and changed my life. I've heard of some people having to have their ovaries removed later.....is that a whole nother hysterectomy?

I had my ovaries removed because I had estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer. THAT is a game-changer. Instant menopause, complete with hotflashes, dryness (sorry if this is TMI), atrophy (again, TMI), and other things. But it had to happen, and I'm still here so...

@mollysmom, there is hysterectomy with oophorectomy or without. IOW, the docs can remove both your uterus and ovaties or just your uterus.  I am not sure which kind I had , but I've had very few symptoms of menopause.  I do have night sweats, but that's about it.  I don't have migraines anymore so night sweats seem a good trade-off.

I was nearing menopause when I had my hysterectomy 11 years ago.  I had terrible fibroids, though, and had had them for years.   I'd had a D&C a few months before my hysterectomy, but knew with that surgery I'd never have to worry about them again.  I was dancing at my daughter's wedding 900 miles away a few weeks post-surgery.

I wonder if someone at Cross pointed out that ofJill being a dick on social media wasn't exactly bringing people to Jesus and/or that he lacks charisma/work ethic/social skills/compassion/language skills to work in the mission field or as a minister? I could see someone with as thin a skin as ofJilk seems to have going private in a fit of pique and then going into a spin trying to figure out next steps to avoid adulting.

Pro tip to ofJill from one whose been there: law school (at least one that is somewhat accredited/reputable) requires a lot of work and logical reasoning coupled with analytical thought. "Jesus said .." isn't going to get you a pass. Also, the work load after graduation is inhumane. There's no way someone who couldn't hack Walmart accounting and failed in his mission despite getting a lot of perks (nice house, security, trips back to the US) is going to be able to cut it in the legal field.

He could never be a defense lawyer because he is self-centered and every thing would be about him.  Each argument from an opposing lawyer would be perceived an attack on "him" a not his client. Thinking about the best interest of someone else? Impossible.

Some people never grow up- he'll be doing this same thing at 40 and then 50. Dragging Jill and kids along with him.

THIS. Also, even if he gets a good enough score on the LSAT, why would a decent law school take him over candidates with the same score or better, who have resumes/backgrounds more impressive than "fucked around in Nepal for a while, worked as an accountant for Wal-Mart, married a reality TV star, quit Wal-Mart so I could mooch off my father-in-law's income from whoring out my wife to reality TV from age 13 onwards, fucked around in El Salvador for a while, came back to the States, now spend most of my time getting into Twitter fights"?

Either he's going to whine about those meanie persecutory law schools discriminating against a GOOD CHRISTIAN like him, or he's going to choose some diploma mill where all you have to get on your LSATs is ketchup.

From my experience both at university (Islamic theology) and w/ human rights and political activism, a headscarf is by no means an indicator for conservative mindsets. Albeit anecdotal, there are many veiled Muslim women I know who would not agree w/ almost anything fundamentalist Christianity stands for and who would be very unwilling (and outspoken about it) to put up w/ repressive gender norms, patriarchy, the notion that women should stay at home having children instead of attending university and having a career, etc. I don’t know w/ which Muslim circles, sects etc. Jill is acquainted with, but chances are the women she hangs out with at mosque find her oppressive believes highly questionable.

Even better!  Your worldview is always being tweaked by your friends, so having a more progressive friend could mold her in a positive way.

I didn’t want to assume too much, but all of my Muslim friends are the non hijabi, pretty liberal kind of gals so my sample was definitely skewed! Lol

For some reason this reminds me that I once had a co-worker tell me that there were a number of ladies from Western Australia funded their PhD habits by spending a few weeks in Kalgoorlie (A mining town in Western Australia) in the worlds oldest profession (I'm paraphrasing here because I'm not sure on the exact wording).   I should add that I can't see Derek engaging in similar activities, not that he would get the same amount of money for it as those ladies anyway.

I also had breast cancer,at 43.Stage 1.I have no idea if it was estrogen receptor-positive.I had a lumpectomy,28 radiation treatments, and took Tamoxifen for 5 years.I am not a dr, but I have read that Tamoxifen can cause havoc with a woman's periods etc.It seemed to,for me...a year after taking it,I had the partial hysterectomy.I still have my ovaries..nearly 13 years ,later.

Do you know what my oncologist said? When he did all the the blood work.He said,"You have excellent hormone levels....for a woman your age".I didn't know if I should be flattered or not. But,once I had been taking the Tamoxifen, for awhile,my levels did start changing.Tamoxifen can have some wonderful side effects,NOT.I felt nauseated frequently, but I have acid reflux..still have that issue, sometimes.

SapphireSlytherin,if you don't mind me asking, did you take Tamoxifen?

An interesting post on the subject of Derick's possible law school ambitions from our friends over at Keeping Up With Fundies.

(Not saying this is proof of anything. But it is interesting.)

Edit: I respect that they're censoring his identity, but he's extremely easy to find, and he's not trying to hide who he is at all. He's the younger brother of the guy who's currently dating Mandie Query.

 Anyways...

Maybe he wants to meet “C” because he wants to file some sort of medical malpractice suit - maybe relating to Sam’s birth or his dental work? I’m not saying they’d have a case either way of it is true, just that it’s a possibility as well.

It's totally possible. But I'm starting to lean toward the idea that he's actually planning on law school. Fall would be the time. And I just feel like it would be weird for this dude to be all excited about the fact that Derick wants to file a malpractice suit. But realistically? Who knows!

Also, I feel like we should have a 'THIS IS SPECULATION' tag. Like a sparkly highlighter, or a special font or something. :pb_lol:

Okay, one last thing and then I'm going to go and pretend to be productive. I just saw this on the DuggarSnark subreddit and it's too good not to share:

That counts for something! I can do most of Top Gun, but all of The Princess Bride and at least 90% of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Almost all of Dirty Dancing and Labyrinth, too.

If only I could remember what I walked into the next room for as well as I can remember movie lines.

Come on now.  IF Derrick is considering law school he will almost certainly look no further than Oak Brook.  It doesn't require anything as fancy as good scores on the LSAT thankyouverymuch.  You do have to take and pass a course on Gothard's Basic Principles as part of your first year though.    http://www.obcl.edu/juris-doctor/

Yes, Oak Brook is Gothard affiliated although it tries to pretend it never had anything to do with IBLP.  It offers an online JD and graduates can take the CA bar.  CA is the only state that allows online-only law grads to take the bar exam.

Other graduates from Oak Brook include James Pennington, JD.  Alecia Faith's dad.  He passed the CA bar but can't practice in TX where he lives.  He likes to boast about it, however, and it really adds cred to his accounting firm that specialises in Godly tax evasion.

And my pet Christian Reconstuctionist hateful creep, Nathaniel Darnell, is another graduate of Oak Brook. Sadly for him, he took and failed the CA bar three times.  He's now given up. :)

I could see Derick pursuing various degrees for the next twenty years, if only to have something to occupy his time that doesn't involve actually working to earn a paycheck to support his family.

Now we are talking hormones.  I recently started seeing a hormone doctor.   i have been on a six week adventure.

She looked carefully at my blood test and discovered that I am low on Iron and Vitamin D - am not diabetic. she said a regular doctor wouldn't see all this that she is seeing.

apart from that I am not in peri menopause yet although I thought I was because I missed two periods, she said once you go a year without missing a period then you go into it.  And she said I have a slightly sluggish liver because of the low iron and low vitamin D.

she put me on progesterone to rub in my arm at night -

gave me iron pills that made me sick for three days, so i had to use a lower dose,

I haven't had carbs in six weeks and hardly any sugar, am doing yoga, and acupuncture for my sluggish liver and zumba... and today discovered a recipe for wheat free peanut butter cookies.

life is changing

too much tmi

who cares - I told Jessa and she was proud of me.
