@Born Skeptic - Seriously, once a month starting at four weeks? Is that dating from your last period? My doctor didn’t want to see me until ten weeks after my last period (unfortunately, I never made it to ten weeks).

It would probably be better to say once a month from the first visit since many don't know they are pregnant quite that soon.  High Risk OBs often see patients more frequently - depending on the reason for the high risk designation. Problems with my first pregnancy meant that I saw a high risk OB (Maternal and Fetal Health Specialist) for my subsequent pregnancies.  I think I saw him weekly from my 30th or 32nd week.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a pregnancy loss (losses?).   It is heartbreaking.  ?

With my clotting disorder it was a dating/heartbeat ultrasound at 10 weeks, monthly with an ultrasound until 28 weeks to watch growth and fluid levels,  twice a week after that plus non-stress tests 2-3 times a week. Plus several extra visits to L&D for pre-term contractions, office visits for pain meds and therapy for hip dysplasia.  I was a hit with the maternal fetal medicine office cuz I was always there and would bake for the staff.

I think it is different from doctor to doctor, when I was pregnant with my 1st they wanted to see me right away with my 2nd he didn't need to see me until I was 12 weeks.  This was 20 year ago. My friend's daughter had a baby 8 months ago. and her dr saw her at 8 weeks and every 4 weeks after that, until 28 weeks and then it was every 2 weeks and at 36 weeks it was weekly.

I feel for the pregnant women in the Carolinas right now with a hurricane about to hit. My first OBs office got taken out by a flood and they wound up sharing their hospital office space with another practice for the same reason. As a first trimester, I didn't get seen every 4 weeks as a result, my friend was in her 30th week and found it hilarious that she was getting ultrasounds done at a dental office since that was where room got offered them.

They made it work, I hope with more warning they were able to evacuate some of the machines too.

Damn, you beat me to it! They know what they’re being born into and want to stay where it’s safe from preaching assholes

I'm picturing the baby in the womb like a cat trying NOT to get out of a cat carrier at the vet. All legs and arms starfished at the opening "No!! NO!!! You can't make me go out there! Grandma is going to talk in that sick sweet voice and my parents are whackadoodle!! Don't make me go!!!"
