Continuing the heated discussion about black dresses at weddings: I think it's one thing when black is one of the wedding colors (hence bridesmaids in black) but another when it's not. In this case, black is a little more random but it seems the 2 mothers coordinated by each wearing a burgundy shawl or cardigan.

For comparison's sake, she had a considerably more formal outfit for Joseph's wedding:

And it seems like navy for Christopher's (couldn't find a better picture):

So black/dark colors seems to be her go-to.

By the way, the tits blog had more than 11 posts devoted to Christopher's wedding (in parts such as ceremony, reception, etc), Joseph's had 4, so far John's has about 2 but with the formal photos summed up in one post, no parts. Interesting?

her whole outfit at John's wedding was a mess it was frumptastic. it didn't even fit. by contrast you can tell she put thought into the other outfits for past son's weddings. with john's it's like she looked in her closet and picked the ugliest thing she could find and threw it on.

Back to the spinsters being escorted by juveniles Goofy Anna and Scary Mary could have been escorted by by Denver and Poor Sarah by the non sibling BFF of Stud John.

In the Bontrager Bowers double wedding they purposely matched younger siblings with older siblings to walk down the aisle because they thought it would look "cute."

Yes it does. Maybe at one point it was a Catholic Church.

He and John are definitely "eye twins." But his jawline is pretty different from John.

They said that, but the cynic in me wonders. Given that it was two sets of siblings marrying in a ceremony during which both sets of parents freely admitted to praying for their kids to marry each other, maybe they had younger boys walk with older girls and vice versa to avoid looking like they've paired any preteens up...yet. :pb_rollseyes:

I think it’s because they essentially ran the other two weddings, even though it’s usually the bride’s family that does that. I mean, Steve actually conducted Joe’s ceremony (think he might have with Chris’ as well) and the ceremony coordinator and people they got to help out were their friends, not Elissa’s. With J and C, it was pretty obvious the Bontragers took control early on and that was that.

For Joe’s wedding, we didn’t hear that much about the flowers or dresses, but I assume those are the things Elissa did get to choose for herself.

I think they are just still salty that they got one upped on the announcement. they didn't want to announce the engagment until after the wedding was already done. I guess they also did this for Joe's wedding. they claim it's for the couple's privacy. (give me a freaking break) so after the Bontriger family announced the engagement the Maxwell's had to hurry and make a post about it. now they hardly ever talk about John and Chelsey.

I feel like I deserve a series of honeymoon posts. I would like to see how Chelsy looks with a real tan versus a fake tan.

Do you all think Teri and Mrs. Bontager coordinated their outfits, with Mrs. Bontrager in a light dress and Teri in a dark dress?

I ask because it looks like the jackets or sweaters they are wearing over their dresses are the same, or similar, but just slightly different shades.

Speaking of jackets, I just realized only John was wearing one while the groomsmen only had vests.

“Join me as I relieve John and Chelsy’s Wedding Day.” Yea, I’m a jerk for picking on typoes.

If they did Teri still could have found a more flattering outfit as for John here is the explanation for that.

John's was the same except that I bought him the coat that went with the same set, so that his outfit would be a little different from all of the rest.

I totally noticed that too. I guess they were exhausted by the wedding and it was a relief to be done with it? Or maybe they were allowing the wedding to have a break from itself? The word placement makes so little sense!

I think they would have been far more relieved if John had called the wedding off.

Oh no - that would have been too Shades of Joe and Liz. Even if it was John's idea.

And you know what - I actually don't buy the theory that the Maxwells oppose Chelsy or the wedding. Yes, there was obviously some resentment about the Bontragers being more open on their blog and announcing the engagement against the Maxwells' wishes, but if Steve wanted the cachet that a Bontrager alliance would bestow - and I think he did, because he's nothing if not relentlessly middle class and wanting to promote his brand - then the publicity comes with the (fundie-world) fame.

Chelsy wearing make-up, having slightly more liberal dress standards, not following a schedule, working (for her family business) - they're all easily within the range of acceptable fundie behaviour. Culturally the two families are still more similar than they are different, with patriarchy the overwhelming theme.

Stevehovah likely requested that his daughters be escorted by juveniles so that they weren't defrauded. He can't have his girls getting any courting ideas, after all. They might find a new headship and then poor Stevehovah wouldn't have anyone left to worship him on a daily basis.

While what you say is totally true, @sableduck's answer was funny!

I actually think you are on to something about the cachet in their teeny little world of catching a Bontrager.  It looks like some of the DILs are starting to write more blog posts and such. I wonder if there is a plan to shift the mantle of Tits2 over to one of the brothers. The most obvious is Pristopher/NR-Anna. The kids are collectively too small for a new Tits2, but I do wonder if that is a plan- wind it down then ramp it up with  new generation.

Do we know where John and Chelsy went on their honeymoon?  Since John has been to South America and enjoys hiking and Chelsy enjoys the outdoors too, I could see them going to Machu Picchu, Peru. But I imagine they were much closer to home.
