I tried to watch tonight's Hannity, really I did.  But between the fluffiness of The Interview and the excessiveness of Trump's spray tan, I just couldn't.  Sorry.

Has Luke Coffey been observing the same Trump as the rest of us??? The only thing he's tough on is immigration (of non-Caucasian people).

My mom is a devoted BT. I wonder if she'll still like Fox News after this  As she's expanded her 'news sources' to the Internet, she doesn't really need them anymore... and of course, anything critical of Trump is just fake news or the 'deep state'. Fox News has clearly fallen to the enemy.

From that article:

Quote

During Putin and Trump’s prepared remarks, it was rather obvious who had led the discussion. While President Putin laid out a clear framework for advancing Russian interests within the context of U.S.-Russia relations, Trump appeared to have had little plan, alternating between vague promises of improving our relationship with Russia and spending too much time on U.S. domestic affairs, notably the 2016 presidential election. Instead of holding Putin accountable for his election interference, he referenced his defeat of Hillary Clinton.

Quote

For a sitting U.S. president to say publicly that he believes a foreign leader over his own intelligence team is shocking and admonishable. At a time when our democracy faces grave threats, it is deeply troubling that the president would side with the very country who attacked us.

Quote

At one point, President Trump even cited, incorrectly, the Electoral College tallies from over two years ago. This was all in an attempt to deflect questions that he was apparently unable to answer.

Quote

Trump, throughout the entire press conference, failed to condemn or even acknowledge the illegality of Putin’s actions in Crimea and Ukraine.

When asked if he would hold Russia accountable for any of its past actions, Trump deflected and deferred. President Trump’s unwillingness to stand up to Russia on this issue only serves to weaken the Western alliance and encourage further Russian incursions into the territory of sovereign nations now that Putin knows Trump will give him a pass.

Quote

Trump, and our country for that matter, can only win against Putin if we are assertive about American goals and our values. President Trump failed to accomplish that on Monday.

Instead of standing up to Putin, Trump offered to cooperate with Russia on some of the very issues that Russia is causing.

This article wasn't in the Washington Post or the New York TImes, or even Mother Jones.  IT WAS FROM THE FOX NEWS WEBSITE!

They'll switch to OAN. I saw a commercial for their nightly "newscast" and it was full of praise for the Orange Menace's performance in Finland.

Anyone else think she might conveniently get pregnant by Junior, therefore enjoying eighteen years of generous child support?  Oh wait, she's 49.  Little chance of "accidental" pregnancy there, and no job in Trump's administration.  So why is she dating him again?

If Kimberly managed to became pregnant with help from a fertility specialist, she could probably convince Dim Donald 2.0 that it was their miracle baby.

Kayleigh McInane: Actually no one colludes tougher than Trump

Kayleigh is on my list of people who are likely to die by drowning. If she ever goes outside in a rainstorm with her mouth open and looks up at the sky, she's a goner.

"The media, the foreign policy establishment, both political parties, have come together as one to attack the president for his meeting yesterday with the Russian president Vladimir Putin.  Anderson Cooper, John McCain, Mitt Romney, they all described the president's remarks about Russia as disgraceful.  Former CIA director John Brennan called those remarks treasonous and grounds for impeachment.  Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer announced that Trump was being blackmailed by a foreign power.  Others accused him of being a sleeper agent, a spy.  One member of Congress from Tennessee called for a military coup against the presidency.  As the rage storm swirled, the president bowed to the inevitable, genuflecting before U. S. intelligence agencies whose judgement must never be questioned, and recited the now obligatory oath of loyalty to the spy bureaucrats now in charge of our country.  (video of Trump trying to clarify the "one wrong word" thing)  So, that's the hostage tape.  The president buckled to criticism.  I know what you're saying, that's exactly what happened, he buckled.  And that happens.  This is politics, after all.  What is amazing and unusual and ominous is who made him buckle.  The people yelling the loudest about how the Russians are our greatest enemy and Trump is their puppet happen to be the very same people who have been mismanaging our foreign policy for the past few decades, the people who invaded Iraq and wouldn't even admit it was a mistake, people who killed Muammar Qaddafi  for no obvious reason, prolonged the horrible Syrian civil war and then threw open the borders of Europe.  The ones still defending the pointless Afghan conflict, and even now funding brand new disasters around the world, in Lebanon, Iran, and yes, in Russia.  These are the people who made America weaker and poorer and sadder, the group whose failures got Trump elected in the first place.  You would think by this late date they would be discredited completely, unemployable and wearing uniforms, picking up trash by the side of the turnpike somewhere.  But no, they're not.  They're hosting cable news shows.  They're holding high positions of influence in the state department.  They run virtually every nonprofit public policy institution in Washington.  They are still, in one sense, in charge of our national conversation, and naturally they hate the idea of rethinking or correcting any of the countless blunders they have made over the years, and that's one of the main reasons they hate Trump, because he calls them on those blunders.  Now, being Trump, he can't always explain precisely what he means to say.  Sometimes he gets the details wrong or he gets sidetracked with some personal vendetta, as if anyone cares about that ridiculous Jim Acosta guy, nobody does.  But on the big questions, Trump is indisputably right.  The Cold War is over.  The world has changed.  It is time to rethink America's alliances and to act in our own interests for once.  Russia is not a close friend of the United States.  But the question is why should we consider Russia a mortal enemy?  Of course Russia spies on us.  So do a lot of countries, some of them far more effectively than Russia.  The Russian attempt to meddle in our election was comically amateurish, badly targeted Facebook ads that almost nobody saw. "

And so goes the first four minutes of Tucker Carlson's show.  His opening monologue is another three minutes of rambling, then it shifts to his interview with Trump, in the same room as yesterday's interview with Hannity.  Trump is just as orange as yesterday.  Carlson asked Trump about Russia, and Trump rambled on about China.  Carlson asked Trump about NATO, Trump rambled on about China.  Carlson asked Trump about immigration into Europe, Trump rambled on about The Wall.

Adam Smith (Democrat congressman from Washington) got Carlson all fluffed up.  Smith tried to explain exactly what Trump did wrong, and what could be considered an impeachable offense.  Carlson's voice got higher and he started talking faster as he argued with Smith, who was a cool cucumber throughout the segment.

(NRA commercial with Wayne LaPierre -- seems approriate)

Back to Trump's interview.  Rambling about Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Angela Merkel, we have the worst immigration laws, we have the opposite to laws, he hates the Democrats, blah blah blah.

Mark Pocan (Democrat congressman from Wisconsin) tried to discuss measures being taken in an attempt to stop meddling with the upcoming election in November.  Carlson argued with Pocan, and he again talked too fast and his voice shot up.  Pocan didn't get thanked for appearing on the show, unlike Smith, and Carlson abruptly cut to commercial.

It may be worth it to look for the clips featuring Smith and Pocan.  They're very entertaining.

Kayleigh, honey, Congress voted for sanctions against Russia because they phuqued with our elections.  To this day, I'm not sure if Trump ever signed them.  Anybody know if he ever did?

If he did, there's gotta be a picture of him showing off his signature on the document.

@Howl and @JMarie, he signed them on August 2, 2017, very, very reluctantly after many months of procrastinating, and protesting about flaws and attacking the bill's constitutionality (oh, and patting himself on the back because he's such a great dealmaker). He actually issued a written statement decrying the bill.
Then he procrastinated some more, by not implementing the sanctions, then promptly forgot all about them after the deadline for implementation passed and nobody called him out on it in Congress. Instead, the Repugs conveniently forgot about them too.

Here's a contemporary article about the signing:

Facing veto-proof majorities, Trump signs Russia sanctions bill

Quote

President Trump has signed a bill that sanctions Russia, Iran, and North Korea, and limits the executive branch's ability to alter sanctions regarding Russia.

Trump also issued a signing statement along with the bill — legal written commentary from the president on how he views the legislation — which mostly attacks the bill's constitutionality. But Trump also issued a written statement beside his signing statement, which decries the bill because of "the many ways it improperly encroaches on Executive power, disadvantages American companies, and hurts the interests of our European allies."

From Trump's statement: "[D]espite its problems, I am signing this bill for the sake of national unity. It represents the will of the American people to see Russia take steps to improve relations with the United States."

More highlights from Trump's statement on the bill:

"I favor tough measures to punish and deter bad behavior by the rogue regimes in Tehran and Pyongyang. I also support making clear that America will not tolerate interference in our democratic process, and that we will side with our allies and friends against Russian subversion and destabilization."

"Still, the bill remains seriously flawed — particularly because it encroaches on the executive branch's authority to negotiate. Congress could not even negotiate a healthcare bill after seven years of talking...The Framers of our Constitution put foreign affairs in the hands of the President. This bill will prove the wisdom of that choice."

"I built a truly great company worth many billions of dollars. That is a big part of the reason I was elected. As President, I can make far better deals with foreign countries than Congress."

From one of the comments in the tweet @AmazonGrace posted above.

Even way back in 1998 he was already thinking of how he would go about it. It took him almost two decades and help from Russia to finally do it, but here we are, as predicted. :pb_sad:

No mention of Michael Cohen and his secret recording of Trump and the payment made to McDougal by Tucker Carlson.  He did, however, have a fascinating segment on theybies (https://www.thecut.com/2018/04/theybies-gender-creative-parenting.html).

Sean Hannity had off tonight (could he be at Mar-a-Lago?), and instead Judge Jeanine hosted a special on "The Intolerant Left."  She didn't bring up the recording either, and started off the hour discussing her appearance on The View while a picture of her new book was on the TV screen.  But there was something interesting:  we now know the details of that military parade Trump wants. It'll be on November 10, "at least 5,000 service members may march in the parade" (or they may not), and it's expected to cost at least 12 million.

Bland-as-oatmeal Jason Chaffetz is filling in for Laura Ingraham (maybe she's at Mar-a-Lago also?), and his special is about the "Trump-Putin summit fallout."  He won't be talking about the recording, either.
