Lockwood and Duggar Family get together.

On Friday, the older Duggar girls made lunch and watched all the children for a couple hours while Jim Bob and Michelle and Daniel and I went out on a double date!

There it is, folks, the sad reality of life for the J'slaves! :(

Wow, she's had 12 children in 16 yrs and they seem to be closer together than the Duggars. She looks like another candidate to overtake 19...

Also where are the J'Slaves in the family photo? I can only see Jana and Joy.

I think she had a hysterectomy after the last one so the Duggars are safe ;)

She miscarried twins last year and if I remember correctly there was tissue left over in her uterus that made her get an infection so they had to remove it.

How sick must those poor kids be of posing for yet another group photo with a visiting large family?

They're probably sicker of the extra cooking and cleaning.

Is it sad that I was halfway through Jane's post, saw the Duggar mention and raced over here to see if everyone knew?

I miss FJ when I'm away from the computer.

Where are Jill, Jessa and Jinger? Probably studying for college exams (or doing the dishes).

I know Jaynee Lockwood came and commented on FJ after the miscarriage, and I do have a lot of sympathy for her. She seems like a sweet, sad person who means well. But after reading her furlough blog, I feel exasperated and worried about her family. During the furlough, Eliseo, who is 3, had his tonsils and adenoids removed. Now, I understand why they would want to have that done in a US hospital if they think the medical care in Mexico is not as good. But imagine the confusion of a poor little kid who has to go to the hospital and can't even go home to recuperate, but has to return to a house that isn't his, and after a couple of weeks must get back in the van and be on the road again. I just don't think that's optimal care for a child. Furthermore, if medical care in Mexico isn't good enough to rely on, then why bring 12 children to live there?

In recent posts, she tells how the other two littlest ones, Nehemiah (age 4) and Samuel (age 2) were sick while traveling. Nevertheless, they had to keep going so they could get up and sing with the rest of the family. This "furlough" is all about begging for money, to put it bluntly, and using the family as props. They think of their mission of "evangelizing" the Mexicans as so godly that it's worth putting their children at risk. Jaynee seems as if she really loves her children, unlike some of our other snark-targets, but she's delusional if she thinks this way of life is a good expression of love and caring for them.

Yeah, they look healthier and happier now, because other people are providing food for them and making sure they have fun things to do. I'll bet they are eating better now than they do at home--except when they're on the road and their parents have to pay. Then it's back to the austerity menu. I don't think they intend to deprive their children, but they ARE depriving them, and they can't face up to that because they're committed to the delusion that God is going to take care of it all.

I have been reading Jaynee's blog for a while now and I have never thought the children ate poorly. They eat Mexican food-beans, rice, tortillas, vegetables. I think they even have a garden and grow their own. The children always seemed happy to me, and missionary life in Mexico is pretty much the only life they have known. Daniel has Mexican citizenship as do 5-7 of the children, I think. Jaynee works hard and sometimes I feel so sad for her. She does not have an easy life. The children have all been born close together and two of them are less than a year apart because of the prematurity. I went through the birthdates once (I have no life) and I think 15-18 months is the usual span between births. She was very fertile until she miscarried twins and had to have the hysterectomy.

I have to agree - I've said before that I like Jaynee, and I feel more sorry for her than anyone else in the family. There are things that make me worry about the kids, but I think they are generally quite happy and well-loved, and luckily do not happen to have any character traits that clash too badly with their lifestyle. Because of that, I tried to read that post in an optimistic frame of mind, but the fact that the Duggar parents left the girls to take care of the kids does make me :/. I'm sure the girls are at least some of the time genuinely happy to take on responsibilities of child care, but the fact that we have another example of the parents leaning on them too heavily in one blog post shows that you don't need to dig too far to find examples of it. For the Lockwoods, I agree that the traveling style of their furlogh is not ideal in many ways, but they seem like a family who are honestly quite good at enjoying the good and dismissing the rest, and I at least get the impression that the kids may be able to take after their dad and not worry too much about things not going to plan or being a bit disorganised.

In the blurb about the new episode it said the Duggars had visited a Spanish tutor--maybe we'll see them try out their Spanglish on this family?

      Stupid loneliness!
Kid 1 went back to college (yeah! But sad foe me, she stayed with me all summer. It was nice to start a new phase in our mother/daughter relationship)
Zero prospects on dates. (Not that I have tried online dating, scared of that but I have reached put to a new group at church, etc.
I asked a friend to go to dinner the other night so I wasn't eating alone, again. The friend had plans, all my friends always have plans. I see stuff on social media, I'm never invited. I'm single, I'm the 3rd or 5th wheel.
My one parent friend at kid 2's fall sport won't be there because their daughter made varsity (Yeah for her!!! Seriously happy for her. Sad for me for another sport I basically sit alone, did that majority of spring and summer sporting events.)
And now I'm crying as my mom told me 2 different funny stores that former teachers remembered about my twin. Both stories were about how they got a crack out of my twin's antics (my parents went to a funeral today and saw former colleagues). Teachers remember me (after all I was a twin and teachers' kid) but none would have memorable stories of me.
      I feel invisible.
Don't worry, this will pass,  it always does. I just need a pity party for a few days. I'm not in anyway going to harm myself. As lonely as I am, I have a very full life I (usually) love. I just needed to vent and cry for a moment.
If you are still reading this, thanks Fjer. 😊

Absolutely awful about the fires on Maui. In 2019, I stayed in Lahaina. I liked to sit on the sea wall, which is the only structure left now, and watch the water. People are receiving help, but many had to leave pets. Please donate to the Maui Humane Society, which is leading efforts to find, treat, and reunite pets.

Nebraska’s new football coach, who is involved in an organization called Man Up Ministries, labels certain players “Alphas” and sometimes “extreme Alphas” and the local paper has a nice piece on why people objecting to the term “alpha male” are wrong and it has a “nice ring”. 🤮🤮🤮🤮
