I’d do Orlando/Universal Studios over New Orleans any day. You can seriously see everything you could possibly want to see in a day and a half. Plus, it’s filthy and just —-different——- after Katrina.

I'm heading to key west for a few days on Monday. Thanks for the suggestions! Perfect timing

If you're driving down from MIA or FLL, I suggest you take Card Sound either up or down from Key Largo. I love the views from the bridge! It's a cash only toll, so have a dollar (I think it's still just $1) ready.

I wish I'd been down there recently enough to give you some more recommendations. If you want food before you leave the mainland, Homestead has a lot of great local restaurants. Royal Palm, Broadway Subs, Romano's. Florida City has Rosita's a few blocks from where the turnpike dumps you on to US1.

(Ack! Can't figure out how to fix the funky quotes! Sorry.)

@MissAquarius thank you so much! 2 years ago we stayed in Marathon for a week and we took Card Sound. My husband lived in Pompano for 6 years before I met him so he is (luckily) very familiar with the roads down there. We only spent one day in Key West though during that trip so we didn't get to see much. We are flying in and out of FLL so your recs for food on the mainland are very much appreciated because I'm sure we will be hungry coming and going! I can't wait to get out of this Philly weather!!

look left, under my awesome weenie mobile, location is city of brotherly love ( or, you know, philadelphia :my_sleepy:)

OT, but the Wienermobile is visiting our university soon. The fun is figuring out where to put it. I've been snickering all week listening to my co-worker calling to find out where to park the Wienermobile.

No problem! I hope you have a wonderful trip. I always recommend people grab gas and food on the mainland before heading south to avoid some of the stickershock. The Keys are gorgeous, but damn they're expensive. I lived there for a few years nearly 20 years ago. I miss a lot of things, but never the price tag.

Good thing your husband used to live down here. I don't have to warn you about the driver's down here! LOL

My BIL lives in Philly and tried to convince us to come up there for Christmas. He didn't even finish the sentence before we yelled "No." We're planning to head up sometime in the summer. I froze in Pittsburgh in July. There's no way you're getting me back to that state in winter if I required a coat during the summer!

I live not far from Disney World and Universal so I go all the time. My SO and I have annual passes to both. We just do little day trips on the weekends and it's such a blast.

Heading to Orlando for March Break. (My mom, sister and I) I have never been to Harry PotterWorld. Any advice? I also haven't been to Epcot since the late 80's so would like to check it out again.

Heading to Orlando for a week in February and looking for ideas from anybody who lives nearby or has visited recently (our last trip there was almost 35 years ago). We're doing one day at Universal and one day on a reservoir fishing trip so those are the big expenses. We're renting a car for the week and are willing to drive longish distances to see other stuff that doesn't cost so much. I'm more of a beach person so am a bit bummed that I won't be walking on a beach every day but we got a deal that was too good to pass up. I'm hoping to drive to a beach somewhere for one day (that was my one stipulation when i agreed to a non-beach vacation). We love walking around small out-of-the-way places, old-time diners, cafes, outdoors as much as possible. We went to Las Vegas last year and only made it to the strip on our last day there. We spent most of our time in the surrounding areas - grand canyon, Hoover damn, car shows, Oatman, AZ and other scenic stuff so that gives you an idea of our likes. Any ideas would be hugely appreciated.

I need to vent about how bloody expensive it is to fly anywhere from Canada, but especially within Canada. We're flying to Orlando from Montreal for probably 15-20% of what it would cost to fly the same distance west within Canada. I'd love to visit Canada's west coast but we can't afford the airfare to get there and still have money left for food and accommodations.

Following this! I am taking my ASD daughter in April and *possibly* a family friend who also has ASD. ALONE! (Older kids now out of law school with real jobs and one still in grad school = no help!) so I am a little terrified!

I was at Disney World about 14 years ago with my dad, who was experiencing a temporary disability (he could not walk and had to use a wheelchair). We got the fast pass to jump to the head of the line. We felt REALLY guilty about it, even though we had it for a totally legit reason! We heard later that some people try to scam the system, which we could not fathom. But it's a fantastic thing if you actually need it.

We went there in August with my grandma. She can't handle walking around the entire park, and so we got her a wheelchair. We then discovered that she had a lot of difficutly getting on and off the rotating floor, which almost every ride she could do has (it's like the escalator walkways at the airport). So, when we went on Haunted Mansion, the cast member at the beginning of the line let us bring the wheelchair with us, and we were led to the exit platform so we could get on when they momentarily stopped the ride. As we waited for the ride to stop, my grandma stood up, since she could walk on the ground when it wasn't moving. When the ride operator came to get us, he couldn't figure out why we had them stop the ride for us to get on, as he thought my grandma "would be sitting down". The way he said it was extremely rude, as though we just wanted the special treatment.

Yeah, there were quite a few incidents of people hiring disabled “tour guides” so that they could skip the line.  The way it works now (I’m a huge Disney nut and belong to several FB discussion groups where this is explained over and over), someone with a disability can request a pass that they take to a ride and get a return time for themselves and their party.  It’s based on the current wait time for the ride and when they return they get escorted through the disability entrance for the ride.  They are only allowed to have one return time at a time, so they can’t just pop from ride to ride gobbling up return times.  They can still get their three fast passes per day in addition to their disability pass so what a lot of parties do is get their return time for a ride with a long wait and then ride a ride they have a fast passs for and/or ride something with no wait.

work in the travel industry, and travel from Mexico into the US has been on a massive decline (not that I blame them!). However, there apparently has been an enormous increase of travel from Mexico into Canada.

When I fly from YVR to MEX or MEX to YVR, the flights are basically full now.  With the change in entrance requirements (from a visa to an ETA), travel definitely increased from Mex to Canada.

I might not make it to the US any time soon but I'm planning a March/April trip right now. Biggest contender is Ljubljana, though I'd also like to visit Prague, Vienna, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Warsaw, St Petersburg and so many other places. Plus they're all around two hours away, and since I'm scared of flying that's a lot more bearable than Atlantic travel. (And they'll all be cheaper than bloody Copenhagen was last year, even if it was stunning) If any of you manage to make it across to Europe I might just tag along, there's so many regions I haven't visited.

I loved Ljubljana when we went. It’s over ten years ago now so it has probably changed a lot since then though.

We’ve been lucky to do a lot of travelling. Especially when we were younger and before Miniway. I’ve been to all the places on your list except Prague (that I really would like to see) and they were all great in different ways. I would most like to go back to St Petersburg because we only had a day there and had to spend half of it trying to get a ticket out of Russia. We were on a transit visa so was already kind of overstaying.

We wanted to take the train to Tallin but the lady at the international window, that didn’t speak a word of English, said ”njet” so we went to Helsinki instead. That was a fun trip. I miss travelling. :)

So Amy is sharing old pictures on her Instagram story. She was talking about the cabin where grandma and grandma Duggar used to live (the one that they moved to the Duggar property a while ago) and said that Joe and Kendra are now living there. I hope they moved it to their own land.

I was just coming here to post this exact tidbit of information!

Amy showed the picture and said something along the lines of..fun fact, joe and Kendra now live in this house and they’ve totally redone the inside.

Wonder what it looks like now and where it was moved to?  Or is this the cabin that I’ve heard Grandma Mary had placed on the compound?
