The real question is, which hero of the faith are the Seewalds going to honor next?

Jessa referenced JC Ryle in a post so I'm guessing Rylie for a girl.

In an episode of CO, Derick said they hadn't immediately noticed that both names ended in -el, and that it wasn't an intentional theme. IIRC, he didn't mention if they planned to continue with it or not.

If they don't, then maybe that kid will end up being the last one and the only one who doesn't match!

I'm pretty sure I said this before, but I think the el thing was just a coincidence. Going off the three names they've chosen so far: Israel, Samuel, and Selah, plus some stuff they said about why Israel when he was born, I think they were just going with Bible names. Lots of names in the bible end in el because it means "of god", so it just happened that they picked two that did.  Of course now that they've said it, they might go with it as a theme from now on.

Possible female names for Benessa, Amy (Carmichael), Mary (Slesser), Charlotte aka Lottie (Moon)

Actually I really like Lottie I think it would go nice with the other two... Spurgeon, Henry and Lottie.

I like Rosemary for a girl and Sage for a boy.

When I was a kid, we had a cat named Cinnamon. She turned out to already be pregnant when we brought her in our house to stay. I chose Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme for the kittens names. Sadly, she only had 3 kittens, so (like most of my life) I had no Thyme. :shakehead:

:pb_lol: Is THIS why I got downvoted on that post? :pb_lol: It was a long multi-quote response and I got TWO red arrows right away and I had no idea where I went wrong. This is a relief. :pb_lol:

I pretty much only have such discussions with my sister. She and I talk about everything and everyone, but I’m otherwise not one to comment on the contents of anyone’s uterus. (Duggars are fair game though. This is how they make their living.) So I guess my sister is the only one subjected to my “he’s pregnant” and she’s used to it now. :my_biggrin: (Just an aside: “OMG remember my college boyfriend Cute Soft Bryan? HES PREGNANT!” is easier than “HIS SISTER’S FRIEND WHO WASNT HIS GIRLFRIEND BUT IS NOW PRETENDING THEYVE BEEN IN LOVE FOR MONTHS AND MAYBE IS NOW HIS GIRLFRIEND IS PREGNANT BY HIM!” doesn’t roll off the tongue as easily. :pb_lol:

(Okay, fine. I’m trying to justify something ridiculous that I say and that apparently annoys others. The story about Cute Soft Bryan is true though. Haha)

Haha I did not downvote you but I guess other people share my annoyance ;-)

I would say 'OMG Cute Soft Bryan is having a baby!' or 'OMG Cute Soft Bryan is going to be a father!'

But if your sister doesn't mind I will not stop you guys from having this conversation ;-)

I can very well see Jinjer not going with any particular theme at all, just names they like. That seems the most like them as far as I can see. If they go for a theme I think it will be classic standard spelled names. While I know Jeremy is not that fond of JB I could see them picking one of his names as either a first or second name for an oldest boy. Then JB could not say they are trying to keep him out of their lives or that they are not honoring him. "Not honoring you? We named our first born after you!" I like Robert over James so I hope they pick that but both names are easy to combine with many other names so it would be a good starting point. Jeremy is Jeremy Joseph so maybe Robert Joseph and calling him Robbie or something like that to make it less similar to Jim Bob.

Michelle is Michelle Annette so if they would pick one of her names for a girl I hope they pick Michelle since Annette is not a favorite of mine. Perhaps Ann(e) could also be considered as naming the child after her.

I could see Jinger liking flower names or graces but I don't think there will be a whole theme of it. Yes maybe an Elizabeth Grace or something like that but her sister if she has one could be a Lily or Rose. I like flower names, my daughter has a flower name. If my son had been a girl he would have been Alvina Linnea or Lilja Alvina (Linnea is a little pink flower and Lilja means Lily in Swedish. Alvina was my paternal grandmother's second name. Her first name was Viola (Violet) so also a flower name but I would not have wanted to copy her full name.)

It's unscented.  There's an "invisible" version that, while still not cheap, seems a little less expensive than the original on Amazon.  I may just see if my cousin can ship me some through their APO (her husband is civilian DoD and works on a military base).  While she's at it, she can send me some Nerada tea as well!

I love (and am extremely loyal to) my Nerada tea. I wasn’t aware it was hard to get outside Australia - it’s a cheap brand available in every supermarket here. Maybe I should start an export business!

Two names in a theme can be a coincidence, three is a pattern so we’ll have to wait and see. And Selah has “el” in it too. Personally, I think Jill will continue untill she has her girl.

Elliot was after the preacher!

I could see Benessa using (C.S.) Lewis. They also like to quote Tozer, who's surname would make as odd a first name as Spurgeon. lol. Though, while I'm actually loving Jessa as a boy-mom, the odds are they'll eventually have a girl.....and I wonder what sort of girl-names would fit with their evangelist theme haha.

C.S.Lewis is quite controversial in fundie circles. Calvinists love him, traditional independent fundamentalist baptists consider him a heretic. I know Ben reads him, but many religious Duggar followers would be appalled if they named a child after him. They could go super Christian controversial and name the next boy Lewis Calvin. Or Luther (which would fit with Ben’s sentiments regarding racial equality too).

Regarding naming a child Robert after JimBob. This will never happen for a Duggar child, but it’s my cute story so I’m sharing it.

My partner’s father’s name is Robert. When we were pregnant with our first (my fourth) child, who was definitely going to be the last grandchild on that side, we decided that if it was a boy we would name it after him. We had a girl - her middle name is Kate (short for Bob). Only Blackadder fans will understand, but, thankfully, all the grandparents are Blackadder fans.

I will laugh if any Duggars name a child Kate.

You've made me laugh, so I appreciate that and your not downvoting my post.  I guess I'm oddly sensitive to internet strangers. :my_shy: haha

To be fair, men aren't going to have babies any more than they're pregnant...I know "going to have" means "going to obtain," but regarding babies, to have=to deliver.  So like it or not, you and I are on the same page. :fire-nanner:

I'm totally kidding but thanks for being a good sport. :D

Charles Robert - for his and her fathers. As an aside, had I been a boy, that would have been MY name. lol

Yes, I like that. I forgot to check his parents' names. Jeremy's mom is Diana. I like the name but I cannot come up with anything other than Diana Louise that I like.

I hope they don't name any of their kids after Jim Bob. Jim Bob already has a son named James, a son with a middle name of James, two sons with a middle name of Robert, and a grandson with a middle name of James. He has been honored enough. There doesn't need to be anymore of the honoring of Jim Bob.

I sort of did. Long distance relationship. A first for both of us. When we met the first time we went from kissing to the more advanced things in less than a few hours. Haha! BUT: We both had talked a lot about those things before meeting. With Skype you have options the Duggar's have not due to the supervision.... We both knew exactly what happens with the opposite body, we talked about preferences and of course, like almost everyone, we had experience with masturbation.

That's what I mean - it's not even just the fooling around - it's having never been ALONE with that person or any person of the opposite sex. it's never having had a conversation with them -even via text - that didn't involve another person.

I just... I can't imagine how awkward that would be. How do you get to know the real person if you're always BOTH on your best behaviors in chaperoned calls/communication?

The -el thing for the two Dillard children seems like a coincidence. I never noticed that until this discussion came up. And it just seems like... If you're gonna have some kind of theme, I feel like most people would choose something like the first letter (like the Duggars and a ton of other people in this world, including my grandmother), or something like the flower/herb name theme people have been saying for Jinger.  If the Dills changed it up for the next kid and it happened to be their last, I think there's a better chance of Israel being the most unusual name of the three rather than the name that broke the pattern.

Ain’t nobody honoring Michelle if you notice except for Jill’s middle name. Michael is for Anna father  I think.

Excuse my ignorance on the bolded part, but wouldn't it be easier on a woman to hide their sexuality than it would be for a man?   A woman can just lay there and get pregnant and not have to be 'turned on'.

It is my understanding that a gay man may not be able to get sexually excited with a woman so that he can inpregant a woman.

You can still get aroused even if you are not sexually attracted to someone. Asexuals can have sex as well. You are not sexually attracted to the person you are having sex with, but you might still be horny and aroused.

I don't know...I don't think its that awkward at all, even under their strict (weird) courtship rules.  I also think they have more alone or nearly alone time together than the TV show portrays.

People in bars, college campuses, etc. hook up on one night stands all the time...essentially going from not knowing each other to sex in a short period of time.  Not that I think that's a good thing, but it happens a lot and awkwardness doesn't seem to be a deterrent to people in non-fundie real life.

I think the question is, if their knowledge of everything sexual is good or not. For instance, have they ever seen an adult penis? (I saw one in school long before the real one.) Graphic details - how does a orgasm in a male person look like. Or I guess most oft us have seen our parents naked, or watched porn online. (Out of interest, not so much as a turn on.) Do they talk with friends/sister about it? Ect...

Maybe some members here who come from conservative home school families can offer some insights?
