I just realised that I never told you here: At the beginning of fall last year a hamster moved in with us. Life was so boring without one. We were on a waiting list for a new one and thought we would get a new hamster round about Christmas. No. Way sooner. We got her from the same breeder that we got our first one from. She is pitch black with two small white spots on her belly and just like her appearance her character is different from our first hamster. Very different. She is shy and does not want to be held, she jumps away when we try to rescue her from falling down the cabinet she somehow climbed on. She already got more courageous than she was during her first weeks, back then she barely came out of her house. Everytime she realized we looked at her, she went back in. Now she (kind of) demands her evening walks in the rooms we hamster-proofed, she enters her hamster taxi very willingly and we can touch her when she is in the mood...touch not hold but we have hope that we will get there. Hopefully, because right now I have no idea how I should take her to a vet without stressing her (and us honestly) to much. And she is so silent. Hamsterlady I. was so loud, in comparison to Hamsterlady II. she literally stomped. While Hamsterlady II. is touching the ground like a feather. And she does not like cucumber.

I hate to be indecisive.  It drives me nuts.  But I have been extremely indecisive about our next pet.  We finally settled on a cat.  Then we babysat our grandcat when our daughter went out of town a

I want to give an update on our hamster-lady. Although her cage is large, we had no choice against her little eyes and gave in. So for now she has an extra space around her cage(which is always open)

In the last few days, we have decided that ferrets might not be the best animal for us.  Mr. Briefly honestly thought that they were cage animals - in other words that they are content to stay in a ca

Hiya, I'm not sure if this is the right thread to post a cat picture but I couldn't find a cat thread. So mods, please feel free to move this if there's a more appropriate place.

Just wanted to show you my housemate's seven-month-old kitty Lilith, modelling her new collar! Isn't she a little sweetie?

@moodygirl86, Lillith is a cutie pie! 😻

As far as the "right" place to post, the Pet Club ought to be a good spot, but a lot of us don't seem to remember to check the clubs. If you want to post Lillith's picture in a thread that gets more attention, I'd try here:

I hope you keep sharing her pics. I love watching cats grow up!

      I survived ... Ish. I'm all moved again, another 1500 miles from where the cats and I were living before. I'm in the new apartment, and kitties are adjusting well. I've only cried 6 times since Saturday! #progress.
      By the way, sorry about the summer logo swap taking its sweet time. Real life was a little too much and it got forgotten.

      A happy summer solstice to all northern hemisphere FJers! And a happy winter solstice to all southern hemisphere FJers! (I know it's already Monday is Australia, so I'm late for most of you.)

      ETA--Oh! I just checked, and the winter solstice is at 1:31 PM on Monday, June 21 in Eastern Australia Time. So, for once the time zones worked in my favor. I'm not late!

      I'm so angry at the Bishops right now. Shit like this is why I left the Catholic church. They play politics so blatantly.  I hope this convinces more people to leave.

      I have an extremely stressful weekend coming up. If you can spare me and the kitties some good thoughts I’d appreciate it.

      One of my siblings has a work related thing coming up where they get to visit a fundie place. Has promised a detailed rundown of the encounter for me and another sibling via video chat. Not that I am jealous or anything….

      My grandmother came from a town in Missouri of (now) population ~14,500 and 8 Baptist churches.  Not counting all the other denominations, that's just the Baptists.
      MY grandfather came from Drimoleauge, Ireland which has a current population of ~450 people (not a typo) and 1 church and 5 pubs.
      If I get a time machine take a wild guess which ancestors I'm going back to visit?  I'm not social, don't enjoy bars, and prefer to imbibe at home but sitting in a pub has to be better than being Godbothered to death by people pretending they don't drink.
      Fun unrelated fact - Martin Luther spent so much time on the toilet he had a desk built so he could work there, and would take meetings while actively pooping.   He also wrote letters to people with vivid descriptions of his poops.   That should make everyone feel a little better about their work place and emails.
