I saw somewhere that he said he was finally dating someone. I'll be in prayer for her. Ugh.

ETA: Actually, Hookers for Jesus is a pretty cool organization. This is their mission statement.

Jesus called out to them: “Come follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”  Matthew 4:19

Hookers For Jesus is a non-profit organization which addresses the harmful effects of prostitution, sex trafficking, and sexual exploitation linked to pornography and the sex industry.

The primary mission of Hookers For Jesus is to Hook (Outreach) Give Hope (Jesus) Heal (emotional & spiritual restoration) and Help (Transitional Assistance) for those who have been negatively affected by sex trafficking and the adult entertainment industry.

Hook • Hope • Heal • Help

Our desire and goals include providing transitional support and assistance to youth and ladies seeking to exit the sex industry. Our vision includes providing spiritual, emotional, and physical wellness in the lives of those who have been negatively affected by human sex trafficking and the adult entertainment industry.

Hookers for Jesus is committed to our community. We desire to encourage economic development as well as personal, academic, and professional growth in every individual affected by the abuses of commercial sexual exploitation. Our goals include providing human services opportunities leading to self-sufficiency apart from a life in the sex industry.

To that end, our priority plans include providing case management and support, individual health and wellness programs; skills assessment, retraining, and career development assistance; criminal justice support; juvenile offender mentorship; community awareness seminars and workshops; and human services programming.

If Lori was living her own godly womanhood prescription she'd have already known about the botulism risk. That women hasn't canned or preserved a day in her life.

Oh, but her poooooooooor neck! (that she never complains about, suffers in silence with, and is her cross to bear) If only she could take the words of Trey to heart, and remember that Paul had it worse.

Why yes leghumper fangirl reader -- you are dumb:

So being a SAHM and everyone in correct gender roles prevents illness.  I just cannot even with that.

Of course Lori agrees and follows up with her standard screed of must eat nourishing food shopped for and made at home by SAHM, because fast food was invented for working women -- and is obviously the cause of all illnesses.

Hmmm .. funny.  This working woman is planning a nourishing home cooked meal of oven fried chicken, roasted okra with spices, and salad for dinner.  Although I will admit Mr Dress did the shopping on Saturday while I cleaned the bathrooms, the house and did laundry.

So maybe only partly nourishing since I didn't do the shopping.  :evil-laugh:

I'm gonna use this line on our next medical call...."well, ma'am you are having chest pains because you work outside the home".  Can't WAIT to see how fast that gets my ass in front of those who out rank me.

@EowynW After all this is the woman who makes slimy dressing with raw eggs and keeps it for weeks, not to mention eats 4-day old salad.

Bad gut indeed.

I made chicken for dinner tonight, but fell short of Lori's homemaking skills.  Instead of wiping up the "chicken juice" with the sacred Norwex cloth, I used a paper towel and the bleach spray to clean the granite counter top.

Don't judge me too harshly FJ sisters.  When we gutted the house's 1966 kitchen remodel (in all it's brown press board and urine yellow splendor) and renovated it 11 years ago -- after saving up for years -- I was able to get a huge deal on the granite because I chose a color most people don't.

You saved for years for your granite? Please. A much faster way is to just burn the countertops with hot pots till they become unsightly. Then tell your husband that you have to have new countertops now, because the old ones have been ruined.

You feminists know nothing about managing a man!

Lori keeps harping that on wives obeying their husbands bc the Bible says so. There isn't one verse that says wives obey your husband. Nor is their a verse that says men are head over women.

Hookers for Jesus is pretty well known...many of the churches here help them financially. They do a great thing helping women out of that life. Unfortunately, LV is sorta known for the sex trafficing industry. Prostitution is illegal here in LV...the legal brothel is outside city limits and I think it's legal in Reno (I could be wrong). Here, LVMPD and the courts prefer to try to refer the girls to Destiny House or other facilities instead of locking them up. Locking them up doesn't do any good, they get released and they're back out on the streets. There are also a couple of women's rehab facilities where the women can have their children with them as they're trying to get their lives together, get clean, things like that.

It really was the work of early feminists to remove head covering requirements for women from the churches. Lori can thank the feminist movement that she doesn't have to wear a veil to church. (Way to fight for the cause, Lori!)

Clips from The Woman's Bible by Elizabeth Cady Stanton, 1898

Spoiler

According to the custom of those days a veil on the head was a token

of respect to superiors; hence for a woman to lay aside her veil was to

affect authority over the man. The shaving of the head was a

disgraceful punishment inflicted on women of bad repute; it not only

deprived them of a great beauty, but also of the badge of virtue and

honor.

Though these directions appear to be very frivolous, even for those

times, they are much more so for our stage of civilization. Yet the

same customs prevail in our day and are enforced by the Church, as of

vital consequence; their non-observance so irreligious that it would

exclude a woman from the church. It is not a mere social fashion that

allows men to sit in church with their heads uncovered and women with

theirs covered, but a requirement of canon law of vital significance,

showing the superiority, the authority, the headship of man, and the

humility and the subservience of woman. The aristocracy in social life

requires the same badge of respect of all female servants. In Europe

they uniformly wear caps, and in many families in America, though under

protest after learning its significance.

It is certainly high time that educated women in a Republic should

rebel against a custom based on the supposition of their heaven-

ordained subjection. Jesus is always represented as having long,

curling hair, and so is the Trinity. Imagine a painting of these Gods

all with clipped hair. Flowing robes and beautiful hair add greatly to

the beauty and dignity of their pictures.

Spoiler

The Nazarites, both men and women, allowed their hair to grow long, as

the hair of the Nazarine was a token of subjection, the man to God, the

woman to man. St. Paul no doubt alluded to this custom when he said the

woman ought to have power upon her head, that is, wear her hair and

veil and bonnet in church as a proof of her subjection to man, as he is

to the Lord. The discipline of the church to-day requires a woman to

cover her head before entering a cathedral for worship.

The fashion for men to sit with their heads bare in our churches,

while women must wear bonnets, is based on this ancient custom of the

Nazarine. But as fashion is gradually reducing the bonnet to an

infinitesimal fraction it will probably in the near future be dispensed

with altogether. A lady in England made the experiment of going to the

established church without her bonnet, but it created such an agitation

in the congregation that the Bishop wrote her a letter on the

impropriety and requested her to come with her head covered. She

refused. He then called and labored with her as to the sinfulness of

the proceedings, and at parting commanded her either to cover her head

or stay away from church altogether. She choose the latter. I saw and

heard that letter read at a luncheon in London, where several ladies

were present. It was received with peals of laughter. The lady is the

wife of a colonel in the British army.

Spoiler

The origin of the command that women should cover their heads is found

in an old Jewish or Hebrew legend which appears in literature for the

first time in Genesis vi. There we are told the Sons of God, that is,

the angels, took to wives the daughters of men, and begat the giants

and heroes, who were instrumental in bringing about the flood. The

Rabbins held that the way in which the angels got possession of women

was by laying hold of their hair; they accordingly warned women to

cover their heads in public, so that the angels might not get

possession of them. It was believed that the strength of people lay in

their hair, as the story of Samson illustrates. Paul merely repeats this

warning which he must often have heard at the feet of Gamaliel, who was

at that time Prince or President of the Sanhedrim, telling women to

have a "power (that is, protection) on their heads because of the

angels:" I Corinthians, chapter xi, verse 10. "For this cause ought the

woman to have power on her head because of the angels." Thus the

command has its origin in an absurd old myth.

Not that I agree with this, but isn't "wives submit to your husbands" the same as "wives obey. . "?

This is something that is so often forgotten. Many of those "hookers" are not there out of their own volition. Many are slaves.

Very true. It says that husband is head of his wife (not over) and Christ is the Head of the Church, His body, of which He is the Savior.

After that it tells husbands what they have to do as heads: love as Christ loved the Church, love as they love their own bodies, which they nourish and cherish.

And it also doesn't call a husband the head of his household. He is the head of his wife. Period. Whatever that means, it applies only to his relationship with his wife.  He is not the head of his children.

As for wives obeying husbands, that word (which is not the same one used in the other submission verses) only appears in that famous passage in 1st Peter 3, and you're right about it not being a direct instruction to wives.  I don't like it when "submit" is understood to mean "obey". The husband and wife relationship is not one of master-slave or even leader-follower because husbands are never told to lead or rule over their wives.

Lori lacks the knowledge to understand the difference between "of" and "over". She lacks the desire to truly help people that generally leads teacherst to want to understand a subject properly.  She lacks the humility to say "I don't know".  Lori is a very bad teacher for all those reasons and more.

I guess then you'd have to be one of those older women with grown children who returned to the workforce.

As always the rules she makes up are for the others not for her.

Lori: If the world would be perfect when (now insert your stupid rules), then do it:

  • wear skirts only*, wear tops that cover your sternum
  • do as your husbands said ( @Ken said no FJ reading, no spending on expensive organic stuff, no writing these hateful things on the internet...)
  • do as your husband esires (you need to know that even if he didn't say anything, you told us. Even I know @Ken wants thongs as bikini bottom*, yoga pants*, more than 5 minutes of lube, sweet sunshine talk, junk food, and so on - you should know more about his desires)
  • go back to work,
  • tithe (so the church can pay SAHM without a provider),
  • forgo all the materialistic pleasures,
  • forgo months of idleness and slothfulness (you called it vacation)
  • clean your house without maid,
  • cook real, satisfying meals at home,
  • be truly kind (selflessly! so no bragging on the internet, no 5minutes-tit for money-tat, no eating-out is a favour instead of a treat)
  • be loving and helpful towards your children and grandchildren (no writing of things that you know will hurt your daughter; grandchildren are the consequence of your breed-till-you-drop-rule , so no bragging about letting them sit in front of a computer screen and call it attention)
  • simply GET your ASS MOVING and STOP TALKING/writing
*I don't care how you solve these contradicting rules, I didn't make them

I can see even some real benefits for you:

  • Eating might solve a lot of your health problems
  • Working outside of home might solve a lot of your attitude problems: You see what a lazy brat you have always been. You see what Christians and NON-Christians do, put up with and achieve
  • Working in general might solve a lot of your internet "misunderstandings": You see what women actually do and don't suggest more work for them

Oh dear, why do these fangirls not see what a bloody hypocrite Lori is? Why don't they see what an evil, callous and ignorant brat she is?

Excellent, @Red Jumper. The whole thing!

Yes, I wonder about this too.  There are so much better teachers out there covering every single topic ignorant Lori tries to "teach" them.

I was just thinking about this today as I perused Diet Hobby's site.  Dr. Phyllis Collins, also called "Youtube Grandma" is quirky and infinitely nicer and more compassionate than Lori.  This youtube video is for Lori. Especially from minute 2:45

Today is good:

Quote

I have to admit, when I was younger I was lazy and loved to be served. When we would spend a couple of weeks each summer with my parents in Door County at their cabin, I would mostly let my mom do all of the work. I rarely offered to help and I wanted to be waited upon. I have disciplined myself to not be like this anymore. I work at home to keep it clean and tidy now. When I have company or family stay with us, I love to serve them and make them as comfortable as I can. I have found a lot more joy in serving and working hard, than being lazy and expecting to be served.

Yeah right, she isn't that way anymore. Wasn't there just some discussion here about how she is lazy?

Quote

As many of you know, I spent 25 years in pain and suffering while I was raising my children. My children learned very early that suffering was a part of life.

Quote

As wives and mothers who work hard at home with children in the home, we don’t have to worry a whole lot about working out for hours every day since we get a lot of exercise raising children and caring for our homes. If some of you young mothers weren’t raised to keep clean and tidy homes and weren’t taught to make daily goals that they must accomplish before going to bed, try a few of them such as making your bed every morning, cleaning the toilets, wiping down the bathroom counters and mirrors (Norwex cloths are great for this!), keeping the kitchen floor swept, making sure the kitchen is clean before bed, and the house is neat and tidy.

Norwex again!  She cleans the toilets then wipes down counters with the same norwex cloth?! Don't have to exercise because you raise children, what the...?

And yes we all know how Lori has suffered so much....because she suffers in silence.

I don't for one minute believe she cleans her six-bedroom, 3-bathroom house all by herself. She has someone come in and clean it for her, and at the very most, she just straightens up a little and spreads a few germs around with her Norwex cloth in between the cleaner's probably weekly visits.  :my_dodgy:

She loves to say how work and higher education make it impossible for women to clean the house... Yet I am able to do a full time class load as a senior in college while also working 20+ hours at just ONE JOB. I have multiple side jobs too. And my husband works for me as an employee at one of those side jobs :boom: Lori would have such a cow if she had to mentor me... :pb_lol:

So Lori says that single women, wives with no children, and older women whose children are grown up can be nurses and doctors. Buuuuut...doesn't Lori say that all young women are to get married and have kids, that it's 'God's perfect plan'?  That women who don't have children have to stay home and slave away for their husbands?  That they MUST be keepers at home, and no matter what they cannot go out and work, because that takes them away from home?

Make up your mind, Lori.  You can't have it both ways.

She flip flops on subjects all the time. In the past, she said that it was ok for young single woman or young wives without children to work. She might have said that because she had previously said that Cassi was working in a orthodontic office while she was still living with them. Her other daughter teaches dance part time. After awhile, Lori started to push that wives without children should be at home serving their husbands.

@fundamentallyfearless  Boom indeed.  My clean house is just a figment of imagination because as a working woman with an education I couldn't possibly have done it myself (with assists from Mr Dress).

Does Lori really believe working women never make their beds, never tidy the bathrooms after morning showers, never clean and tidy the kitchens at the end of the evening, never vacuum their rugs and floors (oh wait that's Lori).

I guess, yeah,  maybe some, a few, working women don't clean.  But I've know plenty of SAHW/ M whose houses are super-fund sites where your feet stick to the floor, you don't dare sit down. and there is ancient dried cat yack on the carpet.

I don't believe she cleans either, but then she has a housekeeper, probably multiple times a week, so she can just pretend all her godly cleanliness is her own doing.

I will bet good money that Ken cleans his own bathroom and always has.  We know back in the days of so, so, so, so sick Lori he shopped for and cooked his own food, handled his dry cleaning.  Cleaning a bathroom is just one more step.

Ken strikes me as a man who really notices and wants a clean house.  I suspect the housekeeper was originally his idea because Lori was "too sick" to clean, he knew she wouldn't clean even if she wasn't, and his cleanliness standards are higher than hers.  A housekeeper was the easiest solution.

Edited to add.  No shade being thrown on anyone who doesn't keep a spotless house. Just snarking on Lori's insistence that working women never, ever clean and SAHW/ M keep everything pristine.
