I'm going to get real here for a second. I was given a dry-eye diagnosis earlier this year, and thank the lord, I am now in complete recovery/remission. No more Xiidra eye drops, no more rewetting drops, no more punctal plugs in my tear ducts, no more blinking exercises, no more hot compresses and lid massages at night. However, I've had to give up my contacts and use my glasses permanently. I don't like putting on makeup anymore because I really don't like having too much stuff around my eyes.

Honestly, after the period of depression I was in because my life was a cycle of constant pain, I'm just happy that now when I get up every morning, I feel normal and happy again. I can get through a day without wanting to die because of my eyes. It got THAT bad. Seriously, I am currently on a short-term anti-depressant because my dry eye specialist believed the neurons in my brain needed to stop sending pain triggers to the nerves in my eyes. Or whatever medical stuff he said to me in his office.

And you know what? Even though I'm in glasses and go makeup-less 90 percent of the time, I'm still pretty damn cute. My husband still finds me unbelievably sexy. Seriously, I was out with him and his best friend a few weeks ago, and they couldn't stop talking about how sexy girls who wore glasses were. Something about a sexy, smart librarian/businesswoman look. A woman who is intelligent and in charge. They weren't even trying to make me feel better, they just kept talking about hot girls in glasses. For a loooooong time.

Now, when I see a woman with an au naturale look, I admire it. She's got the confidence to present herself to the world as she is. And, if you love makeup, that's great. If you don't, that's great, too. You do you.

As for me, sometimes life throws you a curveball, and you learn to adapt and prosper with it.

Can we not use the word 'Retard?'

This was missed when it was first posted, but thank you for pointing out that the R-word is not allowed here.
From the Guidelines:

Quote

No hate speech

Hate speech is not allowed on Free Jinger. While we value free speech, this is a privately owned site and this matter is not up for debate. FJ will NOT be considered a hate site because some people can't control themselves.

Hate speech is defined as speech that offends, threatens, or insults groups, based on race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, or other traits.

This means we do NOT tolerate the use of words like nigger, faggot (or fag unless you are from a country that uses that term for cigarettes and are using it in that manner), retard or retarded, gay as an insult (ie: that is so gay), etc.

The fact that I had to make this an actual rule disappoints me greatly. There will be ONE warning given for violation of this rule. If that warning is ignored, the member will be placed on an indefinite Journey To The Heart until they realize they are not the special snowflakes they think they are.

(I know this thread was locked already, but I don't want people reading it later to think this is ok).
