Victoria sounding lower class has to do with "aspirational" sounding names. Here in Denmark at least (perhaps other Scandis can chip in on Norway and Sweden?), as soon as the Royal family uses a name the "16 and pregnant"-crowd will throw a lot of love at it and so the status devalues. 
The Crown Prince and his brother has children named Christian (heir to the throne, so that was almost a given), Isabella, Vincent and Josephine and Nikolai (only neutral of the bunch), Felix, Henrik (old man's name, named for their father) and Athena. 

Daniel to me is a very neutral name.

It tends to go that the financial upper class and the working class love the same names, the creative class distances it self from those and the regular middle class will be more traditional and about 10 years after the "creatives" in naming trends. 

I find it fascinating that all languages has these divisions, but they are one of the hardest thing to explain or pick up on as a foreigner.

And Astrid being tacky really surprises me, where would that be?

Wow, a lot of you FJ'ers have really strict standards for what is a 'proper' name. Especially ones in Europe.

You'd be experiencing major culture shock if you came to the Caribbean and experienced what I consider 'typical' names. We're more a little  more lax here (although classism and naming does exist)

It just really doesn't sound good to many English speaking ears, I think.  I LOVE Norse names, and I want DESPERATELY to love Astrid, but I can't.  

And the Office did an episode where Jan names her daughter Astrid and Michael calls her "Ass-turd" the whole time, which I think a lot of people can't un-hear.  The similarity in pronunciation does NOT help.  

Aslaug has a similar problem.  It's just not very...appealing phonetically to an English speaker.  

Freja and Ēastre/Ostara are on my short list though

Oh, good, I'm not the only person who thought of that! That was hilarious. I'm not sure many Americans would consider the name tacky, so much as they'd consider the pronunciation... unfortunate.

I'll be interested to see what the next name is but I have no educated guesses. Fundie names always seem to be such a weird mix. Then again, I can't even remember what M child # they're on at this point.

@singsingsingThe blood test is usually done late in the first trimester or early in the second (if I remember right.) So likely between 11 and 14 weeks.* 

Some parents only do it to learn the SEX early - husband and I opted for it because we wanted to do the genetic testing due to my prior miscarriage and that's one of the tests used. The ultrasound was completely normal, but we got confused about the bloodwork and never did it. Whoops. 

As far as I know, some of the fetus' DNA passes into the mother's bloodstream during pregnancy. So they can tell the baby is a boy if they find male DNA present when they run the bloodwork. 

Anna definitely wasn't 20 weeks when they announced. If she was, she'd be a month overdue at this point. So I think it's possible they may have had the bloodtesting done this time, likely so they didn't have to announce the SEX in a separate announcement. Considering all that, I'd guess she's at least 35 weeks now (though she could be further along.)

*Currently pregnant moms, help! I can't remember the exact timeframe this test is usually performed.

ETA: Whitney Bates had this test done if I remember correctly. I believe they told family they were having a girl around Christmas 2015 and Kaci was born late June 2016.

Kevin being perceived as a "trashy" name has me in stitches!! Everyone in my family has good, solid Irish names. That's my dad's name and I can't wait to tell him

That's so funny how much it differs. Here Victoria and Daniel are not classy, and Astrid is not tacky at all here. I would assume more about a person's class if they named their kid Victoria than Astrid, but apparently it differs.

I just know that what we may think is "odd" is perfectly normal to someone else; because the world is a diverse place!

I should update my guess, since we had no idea of the due date initially. I'm sticking with Maverick, updating birth date to 9/12, and adding in a weight guess of 7lb14oz.

I think it's so interesting what names are considered trashy and classy in different countries. Names are a big hobby of mine, and I consider the yearly release of the new SSA popularity lists to be an unofficial holiday. I'm way less of a name purist than I used to be. I've accepted that most people are pretty OK with the name they grow up with. Even the ones with super weird spellings will complain about the inconvenience but very rarely take steps to legally change the spelling.

I had mine at 9 weeks and results were in 3 days later

Erin Bates Paine also had hers done super early. I think she announced the pregnancy, SEX, and NAME at the same time on the little baby quilt (they just showed a baby retrospective special on BuB a couple of days ago, so this is fresh in my mind). 

I doubt Anna had that testing done. She looked about ready to pop on that trip to RU, so if she hasn't had the baby yet, I'd wager she's due any second. We'll have to keep an eye out for her at the JoKen festivities, which are supposedly tomorrow (Friday). I think she may stay home to fuel more talk. And they won't announce immediately. If she's already had the baby, they may announce Monday, unless they "officially" use that day for People to reveal the JoKen wedding leading up to the season premiere.

Here a lot of these names just sound old fashioned, not tacky. Take Kevin for example. Kevin is your grandfather or maybe your fathers name, but a kid born today would probably only get Kevin as a middle name.

The only time I come across young people with old fashioned names has been immigrants from overseas or the child of immigrants that grows up here but decides to go by an English name instead of their given one.  Kevin, Simon, Jonathan, Andy/Anthony, Jennifer, Florence, Michelle and Kelly are all names you don't see given to babies, but I know about 10 of each who are all much younger than when the name was most popular.

My name is rather old fashioned compared to when it was most popular (My dad wanted to call me Helen and to this day I am grateful that didn't happen!), but it's coming back into fashion thanks to immigrants adopting it as their English name!
