Also, did anyone notice when John David was asked about when he would start courting he was staring hard core in Jana's direction? As if to say, "whenever your friend Laura finally comes around"?

I like the idea of those two LOL

They have also been known to sue farmers who use the seeds from their heirloom plants the next year if the plant was polarized by their plants.  The new seeds now have their IP in them.  You basically cannot ensure you get to keep your own seeds.

Monsato  really is movie-villain evil, isn't it

Thank Rufus. Dr. Phil prescribing meds is a nightmare. Although, he doesn't even have a license anymore, so he's just a teevee star. ;)

I'd have no problem with "Dr" Phil self prescribing something.   Maybe a stool to help him get off his high horse would be a step in the right direction.

But!!! Can you IMAGINE the fun he'd have with the Duggars - individually and in a group?   THAT I'd love to see!

Nah, you don't need a prescription for what he needs, it's a laxative and you can get those over the counter. :P

Dr. Phil and Dr. Drew team up to talk to the Duggars!! One can't do it alone, there's too many of them!! Dr. Phil digs for skeletons in the closet and points out all their fucked up beliefs, while Dr. Drew makes excuses for them!

Psychologists still need a license to practice. Dr. Phil is actually controversial in the field because he practiced without a license. Someone I went to grad school with was weirdly obsessed and always made a big deal about it. But yeah, you still need credentials to practice therapy but some people get around it by calling it something like "life coaching" and not billing insurance.

In order to call yourself a "clinical psychologist" one needs to graduate from an APA-approved doctoral program and an APA-approved internship, then pass national boards (written exam) followed by your state exam (often an oral exam).

Suppose that happened - and at that, a la 'The Simpsons' family session. Apart from the obvious, who shocks who first and why?

...sorry, just in the mood for silly gameplay tonight.

My bet is on one of the husbands shocking Joshley first :pb_lol:

In my version one of the husbands breaks a folding chair over Josh's head.

My other scenario is set in the octagon:  Josh vs. the angry husbands except for Dwreck who stands on the outside and whimpers, "Yeah, get 'em!"  These husbands are married to Josh's victims and although they may quote the forgiveness line, there has got to be some emotional seething there - especially given Josh's pompousness.  I think Jeremy and Ben will crack first.

My understanding is that he used to be licensed and then lost it  Instead of doing what he needed to get it back, he ventured into other arenas and ended up on TV.

I'm interested to hear what makes people say that Joy will be the most strict gunfire of the group. I haven't watched the show in a very long time and have just followed their doings here. Last I saw she was a moody teenager who always seemed to be wishing she was anywhere but with her family.

Finally watched part one on YouTube. That is the most I've ever heard Jana talk, it was great to see some humor from her and have some questions thrown her way. Garden. Renovate. I have been punked for the last time by TLC, so I'm waiting for the courtship video before I believe she has someone. I thought we were done with the Vuolo wedding, good grief. So next season will be Joys wedding dress (we've seen it), the wedding (seen it), joe's proposal (seen it). I would rather see JD flying them somewhere, Josiah learning to fly, Jana knocking down a wall with a sledgehammer. Something different. Actually I'd love to see Jessa return or replace Jana's treasured music box and offer a heartfelt apology for hurting her.

That sounds right! It's been a while since my friend told me about the details.

It annoys me how this show keeps going because the family seems to be on track for guaranteeing a new marriage every time season renewals come along!

Not to mention People Magazine has a "how to get the 411 on the Duggars" slide show on their front page website.

Why do people love them so much?!

Lots of people aren't overly keen to discuss their sex lives on TV. I don't think her reticence is weird or requires any explanation.

Totally agree! I am pretty private and wouldn't be too open about discussing that aspect of my life with most people I know, let alone on international TV.

I am a farmer. My farm has been in the family for over a century and land stewardship is very important to us. Because of the advent of GM crops we are able to actually spray less chemical, and what we do spray is less toxic. No farmer is going around drenching a crop in chemical just because they can. Chemical is expensive and we only use it when necessary. Having GM crops just means we have more options for chemicals and can manage weeds and pests more effectively. It's been a great advancement for our farm.

It is true that Monsanto owns the patent on their GM crops, which is within their rights. Every farmer who buys seed from them signs an agreement that says the will not save seed to grow the next year. Since Monsanto put a lot of time and money into developing the seed I think it's fair that I agree not to steal their technology. The seed is not sterile and some farmers do keep it and reuse it, which is illegal. Those are the farmers who end up in court. Monsanto has never sued a farmer over accidental cross contamination. I don't agree with all of Monsanto's practices but they aren't the devil that so many make them out to be.

There are also options for farmers who don't want to deal with Monsanto. There are other companies who produce GM seed. They require you to sign a similar agreement to Monsanto agreeing not to reuse seed, which again I think is fair. There are also still nonGM varieties of seed available from various companies for farmers who don't want to grow them. Many farmers who don't grow GM crops still buy seed every year though, either because they're growing hybrids or because they want to be assured of varietal purity in their seed.

I hope this is helpful at least to some. There is so much misinformation spread about GMOs and conventional farming practices nowadays, the gap between producer and consumer just seems to keep growing.

Thank you for your perspective! I find it interesting that time and time again, I see farmers and people who work in food supply/production being the ones defending GMO's and the companies that supply them, counter to the "farmers suffer at the hands of Monsanto!" line. Farmers (and scientists) are the experts I prefer to defer to in this case. Not random bloggers on the interwebs, where much of the opposing viewpoint seems to be able to be traced back to. And then it just passes into urban legends and so on.

This! I get so frustrated with this whole GMO thing.... scientific consensus holds that they are safe - and they are so important in developing parts of the world where they are able to use GMO's to create hardier and healthier crops to feed people who need to eat. I haven't seen any compelling evidence they are unsafe, only rumours and fears. BUT - I still find Ben's food labeling hilarious. There are probably plenty of things to criticize about the Duggar pantry besides GMO's! At least Jana has her garden now so that's some progress.

:pb_lol:

Yes and GMOs was only ONE of a whole list of issues he had with food. The rest seemed pretty legitimate and had to do with things like hydrogenated oil in peanut butter and other, legitimate health issues.

So I'll give him the GMOs.

I always liked Ben. I suspect he has social anxiety, which I can spot pretty easily as I've struggled with it my entire life. He seems pretty intelligent and sweet, a bit naive and shy. Him and Jessa seem to both be growing quite a bit. I think she makes him feel a little uncomfortable sometimes. If that's the case I would hope he brings it up with her, but who knows.

I really hope Jinger gains some confidence. Maybe if/when she has a child she'll find it.

Joy and Austin are all over each other. Not gonna lie...they're goals for me right now lol

Wow.

Becoming a Psychologist in the UK does not require a medical degree either.  a UK Psychologist needs:

-a British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited undergraduate degree in psychology

-work experience in the specialism you want to work in

-a BPS accredited postgraduate qualification relating to your chosen specialism (similar to a US based Masters Degree)

(If you have a degree that isn't in psychology, you may be able to get GBC by doing a BPS-approved conversion course. You'll then be able to register with the HCPC and work as a psychologist.)

A US Psychologist needs:

-A Bachelor's (Undergraduate) degree (4 years) in Psychology

-A Master's degree (2 to 3 years) in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field

=A PhD (doctoral) degree (2 to 4) years in Psychology

Like in the US, medical school is required to become a Psychiatrist in the UK.  Medical School in the US and the UK are structured very differently - but that is a conversation for a different day.

I don't think this is going to happen and I'm really wondering why they introduced Laura to the show, WITH HER FULL NAME! She is 6 years older than JD and Jana. The only explanation I can think of is that she is the new family tutor for the children and helps manage the household along with Jana.

I'm rewatching last night's episode and noticing more than on the first viewing. I'm noticing that Jinger is grimacing/making faces while they show the recaps. Not sure if that's sarcasm or just her regular expressions.

Personal pet peeve, pastor Caldwell says, by the power invested in me. It's been bothering me since I first watched the wedding. Probably also because I'm a proofreader.

Also proofreader side note: Joy wrote message my feet during the couples' game. SOTDRT I guess?

ETA why is poor Josiah there!? I feel like he's so left out.
