Jana's Future 5 - The More Things Seem to Change...

Jana's still at home, hanging out with friends, and doing whatever else it is she does at the TTH, with additional thread drift about what we call saying goodbye to people. Carry on!

Have there been any updates on that tattoo parlor that Jana bought? I'm still curious what she/the family is planning on turning that into. On a side note, with all the real estate that family owns around town, and how much money they spend, they're likely to be an integral part of Tontitown's economy haha.

Jana and John are the PARENTS in the TTH. Now, how could they bear to leave and get married? Isn't Joyanna old enough to take over--old enough in Duggar terms?

It must get old watching Dad goose Mom in the butt and then see them run upstairs. Ick. Surely by now John has found someone??? Jana I get--maybe this IS better than giving birth to a whole new batch of howler monkeys. Maybe....

I could see Jana not wanting to start over. I think a lot of times oldest girls in big families don't really want children of their own. If she waits long enough she'd probably only have 3-4 kids and she'd have a fairly normal yet conservative life.

I feel like the opposite is true in the fundie world. Many of the oldest girls wants, and some have, big families.

Johanna is old enough in their world. The Duggars also get help from friends(Query, Paine) 

I agree with those who think Jana is probably more fundies than her sisters. It's possible that Jana(and John) haven't found  the right person. I doubt she doesn't want to get married.

I do wonder how she feels about being single. Did she buy the tattoo parlor to busy herself? Is Laura with the Duggars to help Jana emotionally?

Speculation: I never thought of Jana as being sad until Jinger started courting. She seemed so depressed in her TH. Before Jinger announced her courtship, there were rumors about Jinger and Jana courting. The Bates have admitted that their kid have had special friends that failed to become courtships, I wonder if that is true of the Duggars.

I totally get a 'hell, no!' eyebrow raise vibe from JD. He has real marketable skills and can make his own living - he's all set as far as the 'requirements' to have a wife. I also see the inklings of a dry humour.

I think JD is the one holding off on getting married and having a million kids - and is somewhat disillusioned with the whole circus, after seeing big bro fuck up so grandly and being 'forced' into a life he doesn't want.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if JD is encouraging Jana to hold off and bide her time. If neither of them are married it's relatively better than just one unmarried twin. She won't marry until he does.

Edited to add: I think these threads should be Jana AND JD's future, not just hers. I think they're more of a team than we think.

I have always wondered about what happens when girls born to fundie families are infertile. I guess this could be a possibility as to why she hasn't married yet. Just a random thought though, not likely.

I agree, JD could totally be holding off on marriage. He probably had better self-control at 15 than adult Josh ever could lol, and he while he does seem keen to have his own family eventually he doesn't sound like he's in any rush. I do think if Jana meets her match and marries, JD will be soon to follow though.

Seeing more speculation about Laura and John David. I feel like he would be settling if he married Laura(I know some of you felt the same way about a possible Jana/Jonathan Hartono courtship)

See the Michael and Brandon Keilen tread in the Bates forum. Michael is the Bates oldest daughter and she has just recently written a post about being infertile. It's rather heartbreaking.

I'm sorry but I don't for a minute believe Jana is "free" to court. She's "needed at home." End of the discussion. Probably the same with John, but he probably can break free. Jana will be there until the parents die or TLC says "It's time to marry Jana off"

I think Jana is "free" to court. I just don't buy that her family is trying to keep her home. I also don't think they "need" Jana for the reasons I stated(outside help, Johanna etc) I 100% believe John David is free to court. Does anyone remember the scene on 19 Kids when JB said to JD and Joe that is was time for them to find wives(I can't remember the exact quote). 

I think some of us find it hard believe that the twins can't find spouses. Jana is beautiful, JD seems to be hard working.

I have always thought that maybe Jana and JD made a pact to stick around and protect the kids after all the Josh scandals.  I also think they are not too keen on having eleventy kids, after having raised all their siblings.  I think JD had a lot more freedom than his brothers (working outside the family business/ministry) due to him having some "dirt".   

Now that joy is married, it will be interesting to see what happens with them. I also thought maybe Laura was perhaps "getting to know" JD, from all the group pictures.

People keep saying on here that Jana and JD don't want kids because they raised all their siblings. But I'm pretty sure JD has done no child rearing, that entirely falls on Jana now.

Well, the Bates have a clotting disorder that runs in the family that makes the women unable to carry a pregnancy to term unless treated.  I haven't kept up with the Bates' threads lately, but I know after Erin was diagnosed and found that the issue was genetic, that the Bates had all their daughters tested for the disorder.  It is very likely that at least one of her sisters also carries the disorder, but we have seen no slowness in Bates' female courtships.  

Michael and Brandon and Erin and Chad handle their issues just fine.  So I think they would work around it.  

But even in fundie circles, the Duggars and Bates are exceptions, not the rule.  Even without using preventative methods, most couples do not have their fertility.  There are families who only have a few kids in fundie circles.  It's not unheard of.  WE just don't tend to focus on them.

So would it be against their principles for fundies to receive fertility treatments if they are having trouble conceiving? I would think that would be interfering with God's natural plan.

I've always figured that Josh didn't touch Jana because he knew JD would beat him up if he did.  There's often a special connection between twins.

I think at least IVF would probably be against many of their views, considering their other views on abortion and contraception. 

This might not be representative of other QF families but there was a 19KAC episode where Jim Bob and Michelle visited some sort of fertility specialist. As I recall, they framed it as a way to find out if she was still in that "season of life," not to seek some sort of fertility treatment.

Hmm what did everyone think of the hints about Jana possibly having a special someone in this week's episode? It could be bullshit but it seemed a little more specific and a little more overt than what we've gotten in the past, which is usually a producer point blank asking Jana (out of nowhere) if she's courting or getting to know anyone, and her uncomfortably shrugging and saying no.....
