In what world would this lawsuit be a good idea? I do not for one minute get this. Fucks sakes! Josh is an idiot.

Gee Joshley. If you don't want to be made out to be a pariah you should, I don't know, not diddle little girls?

This is unbelievable.

I've had this song in my head for some weeks, thinking about how appropriate it is in the context of conservative Christian hypocrisy, and this thread seems like like the best place to share it:

Clean up your own yard Duggars, before you start blaming the rest of us for supposedly ruining society.

There aren't enough words in a thesaurus for my thoughts on Josh jumping in the lawsuit. So here's a cute foster kitten pic instead.

Also, I still, 2 years later, cannot get over the fact that he immediately resigned. Like, I can believe that he would do that in that situation. Makes sense. But what is still astounding to me and is that he had in his past something that he felt that, if released, would mean he should resign. If I had a secret that would force me to resign from my job if it came out, I could never live with myself and go to work everyday knowing that!

I'm willing to bet he didn't resign voluntarily.  I'm sure it was one of those "resign now or we will fire you in an hour" situations.

My guess is that Josh never thought the molestation story would get out (or that he'd be outed in an Ashley Madison hacking, but that's another story).  The police investigated in late 2006 and the story didn't get out until 2015.   In between there were lots of specials and TV episodes which probably made it easy for him to think he was in the clear. Blinded by his D list fame.

With that said, though, I've always wondered what his idiot parents were thinking when they went forward with those specials and then the show so soon after the police had been notified about them covering up Josh's assaults on the girls. Blinded by the almighty dollar.

Wow. This creep basically just lost his sisters lawsuit for them. So he molested them AND now he's robbing them of a potential victory in this lawsuit. Seriously, fuck this guy.

THIS. But also, to respond to the rest of your post, I knew most of what you articulated. I guess for me it's just mind boggling that he would think it's in any world appropriate to advocate for morality knowing his past. Or that God would be cool with it, since he knows all. I mean, I'm not shocked by their hypocrisy of course. But, I don't know, I just can't get over the insanity of it.

Assuming this is true, the lawsuit just went from stupid to obscene.

I don't see what corner of hell Joshua getting involved in all this is a good or strategic idea. I wonder if it was sanctioned by JimBoob, or if Josh is attempting to be clever?

Still no documents provided as proof. And other outlets are still reporting just based off The Daily Mail - and many of them appear to be tabloids.

I'm going to go ahead and say this is false until we see actual evidence proving otherwise.

So, another thought, since I am not a degreed law professional. How are they going to gage damage done by InTouch versus the damage done by the Ashley Madison hack and admission of cheating? I mean, to be fair, it was both that tanked Josh.

Do we know which older sister Jana is closest to, or are her best friends more likely to be outside the family?

I believe the older girls paired off Jana and Jill and Jinger and Jessa. Jana was Jill's MOH, and Jinger and Jessa's were each other's MOH.

Also @Cleopatra7, I have so many uses for that song in both my personal and professional life.

Maybe by being informed, they meant that they were informed that that "crotch tickling" is actually abuse?  Not that that's really any better, because it would mean that no one ever talked to them about who couldn't touch them.

Didn't believe they lie about this on Megyn Kelly? The police report says some of the girls noticed it and told on Josh I believe. Then on Megyn Kelly they state that they were all sound asleep the entire time.

But at least Josh isn't listening to disgusting heathen music, drinking Satan's nectar (alcohol) or, horror of horrors, dancing to heathen rock 'n' roll whilst under the influence of Satan's nectar, right? Right? :pb_rollseyes:

Actually, if this ruins the Duggars chances of getting a cent from this lawsuit, go for it. Wave your victim card around all you want, Joshley. You poor delicate douchnozzle.

While the Mail are a vile, vile "newspaper", and so unreliable wikipedia won't accept them as a source (!!!), I thought they were on best behaviour in American because of the Melania Trump libel case?  They're completely known to literally make stuff up, though, and then print a tiny retraction buried on page 32 6 weeks later....

I'm torn - I hope it's not true, because it's completely ridiculous that someone who was actively fighting against a whole group of people's basic human rights could sue for the mental distress caused by it becoming even more widely known than it was already that he'd sexually abused 5 girls, and his holier-than-though parents had done pretty much nothing about it. But on the other hand, if it's NOT true, Josh would have a case for suing the hell out of the Mail - and I'd like to see that, always - except it would mean Josh getting rich from his crimes.

This is a key context for me.  Michelle Duggar making that robocall about how trans people are a danger to children, when she'd done so little to keep her own children safe (including, I'd argue, Josh).  Josh joining the Family Research Council, of all things - fighting to make divorce harder, keep rights away from LGBT people, abstinence-only sex education, make abortions, the HPV vaccine and pornography illegal etc etc.

If Michelle and Josh had wanted to get into politics, there were 1000000 things they could have done that wouldn't have exposed them as total hypocrites.  They could have campaigned on issues that Jesus had actually spoken about: feeding the hungry, healing the sick, stopping profiteering on loans, helping the homeless, eg - but he chose not only to actively work to restrict the sex/romantic lives of pretty much everyone, in one way or another, he did it without revealing his own dark secrets.

If Michelle had said "I know about child sexual abuse because it happened in my own home, so I am hyper-vigilant to places where it is likely to happen", or Josh had framed his FRC work as "I was a sinner who was lead astray myself, and so I know the devastation a sexualised culture can wreck on families" (OK, OK, I can't work out how he could have framed it, but NOT presenting himself as holier than thou - but their whole brand was built on a lie.

(I do wonder if, in the Duggars' deluded mind, they think had this not been revealed (and Ashley Madison etc), Josh would have ended up as a Presidential candidate or at least powerful in politics?  So it's not just about losing the job, for them, it's about losing this opportunity for power?)

I refrain from commenting on Duggars and keep my clicks to Freejinger only - but this time I could not help myself - ONE COMMENT.

Next he will sue Anna for not being as joyfully available as she could have been - perhaps her 'yes' sounded reluctant and was not accompanied by a smile or she had a headache, therefore leaving Joshie no choice but to go for Ashley Madison. He will also sue Satan for the sinister construction in his heart - where was his building permission?

I hope this stops people from supporting them, and yes, even by snark watching. I know some of the users on here want to relax after a long day with some fundie lolz.  But right on your couch, by giving these pests a platform, you indirectly support anti lgbt and anti women's rights agenda, use paper plates and buy fuel for the Duggar plane to fly them to other countries to pester people, attend rallies and spread out their hate speech.

You feed their sense of greed and entitlement. 'See, we do a lot of wrong and God still sends us viewers - how else can we push our luck for more money? After all God keeps on granting us public interest and recognition. How else can we milk this? Oh yes, let's get Joshie to sue as well!'

There are SO many other good things on TV!

Note: NONE of the older Duggar kids will ever rebel, no matter how short their skirts become and how many of them wear pants. Look at Metzger family, the girls all wear jeans, boys help in the kitchen, yet they spend most of their week at abortion clinics spreading their hate. The soccer pro will never let the daughter Jinger bears him become a professional athlete, no matter how hunky and normal he looks. There will be no Pistol Pete among the well educated accountant boy's children. Wake up.

Granted, tabloids are evil. They exist to make money. If they can make money by giving you a good reputation, they will. If they can make money by giving you a bad reputation, they will. If they can make money by getting a million clicks for a completely bs story they made up there and then, they will. Celebs feed off this evil system, which keeps them in the spotlights. The Duggars have been happily selling their privacy to them for money. However, they should know from their Bibles that mammon is a false god which will destroy you if you let him too close. There is no conscience in capitalism. If you try to benefit of tabloids, you  are also vulnerable to their urge to make money from you no matter what.

There is also something in the Bible about counting the cost before you start. As in 'is it wise to step in the spotlights with a skeleton in your closet?'

So much stuff in the Bible that could have spared them from the misery they experienced.

For people who believe deeply in personal sin, they sure know how to blame others for it.
