Or they could hire a math tutor. They don't even have to allow evil public schools. Just get your daughter REAL help. Not random help from fucking Facebook.

How old is Sitara? According to google, the book she's using is meant for 6th graders.

I don't know how old she is. Someone mentioned she's in 7th grade? I don't think working at a 6th grade level is necessarily a bad thing if it means she is working at her ability level and progressing. As long as she's attaining mastery of the concepts, constantlly improving and progressing I don't think it's cause for concern.

Now if that 6th grade workbook is due to Jackie's ability level or teaching ability level then that's another thing altogether.

I think Sitara is around 13/14.

I don't really know her adoption story. I know she was adopted when she was older than 5 because of you look at family pictures, she wasn't included until she was older. So she probably has memories of either a foster family or bio family.

According to this she was adopted early 2010 when she was 7.   The older kids were all married and out of the house by then.

That means she's what, nearly 15? And about 3 years behind grade level. I hope they can work through those books fast enough to get high-school equivalency by the time she's 18.

Honestly I'm more concerned anout that than the fact that Jackie needs to ask about the problems. That question is really strangely worded, I don't think I've ever seen a fractions question with that particular terminology.

I didn't understand the question either. I had no idea that they wanted a fraction. I admittedly suck at fractions, so maybe it's that. Aren't foreign adopted children frequently at least a little bit behind in school? Or does it just seem that way because of Kimmie?

I’m a primary school teacher who specialises in maths teaching in the uk and I have never heard a fractions/ decimals question worded like that but it could be an American way of phrasing questions. I would expect a child who had to learn English in addition to their first language to be working at a level below their peers for a couple of years as they acquired language but not nessacarily in maths and not for more than about two years unless there were other issues like a special educational need

She’s not foreign, she’s from Texas. But we have no idea what her life was like before so there could be legit reasons for her to be behind. It could also be laziness and/or incompetence by her parents. Or all of the above.

That's what I get for assuming. It seems that most of our fundies who adopt, do it from other countries to save the poor heathen children and bring them to Jeeheesus. I figured the Smiths did too. Hopefully that means she can escape when she's 18.

Sitara is their only domestic adoption, but considering the challenges Jackie has described with the boys I'd imagine sitara has suffered for it. Lost in the shuffle, and apparently a "challenge" for Jackie.

Although her older siblings were married and out of the house, I imagine she and the other siblings miss all of the family get togethers with their older siblings and their children. If you look at their old posts, they seemed to enjoy the company.

Geez! How long is this going to drag out before a trial date or plea deal is announced? Katie and the children deserve closure.

I read this news story today and it reminded me of Alan. I sincerely hope nothing like this happens with his case. As I recall, Brantley Disharoon also had his charges dropped/conviction overturned (don't remember which) due to not getting a speedy trial.
