For people who want us to believe they're so innocent, Trump and his cronies are certainly acting guilty:

Can you imagine the investigations that would be happening now if Democrats were suspected to have illegally deleted information from their devices. But it's Republicans doing it, so the Republicans in congress are pretending it didn't happen:

Speculation continues to grow that Michael Flynn made a deal with the FBI:

Please, please, please let this be true. I do think it's likely to be true. Flynn is up shit creek after all his legal activities, and he's been strangely silent. He seems to be the only one in Trump's inner circle who isn't desperately trying to convince the public that he and his fellow conspirators are innocent.

I accidentally put this in the wrong thread last night (I keep forgetting there's a separate Russia thread now). So I'm posting it again here in the right one:

Jerry Nadler and his fellow Democrats in the House are continuing to push for a Resolution of Inquiry (which would allow members of the House to see Trump's tax returns):

Well of course they did!

White House shut down Trump-Russia hearings to stop Sally Yates from testifying.

Quote

The swirling controversy over possible links between Donald Trump’s campaign team and Russia has taken a new twist after it was claimed the White House sought to stop a former senior official from testifying before congress.

The House Intelligence Committee has cancelled all meetings scheduled for this week, where it was due to hear testimony from, among others, former acting attorney general Sally Yates.

Ms Yates was forced to step down after refusing to enact Mr Trump’s Muslim travel ban. She had earlier told the Trump campaign that security advisor Michael Flynn may have left himself vulnerable to blackmail attempts from Moscow after lying about conversations with the Russian Ambassador to Washington.[...]

The Washington Post said it had reviewed letters from the Department of Justice in which it told Ms Yates it considered much of her possible testimony to be barred from discussion at the committee hearing. It said this was because the topics were covered by the presidential communication privilege.

Ms Yates and other former intelligence officials had been asked to testify before the House Intelligence Committee this week, a hearing that was cancelled by the panel’s chairman, Congressman Devin Nunes.

Now this is telling. Invoking executive privilege is only done in court cases. So people are getting scared here.

"Now we know why Trump panicked about Russia probe"

Quote

You know things are looking grim for President Trump when he starts tweeting about Hillary Clinton again. Monday evening he sounded trapped and wounded: “Why isn’t the House Intelligence Committee looking into the Bill & Hillary deal that allowed big Uranium to go to Russia, Russian speech.” Well, perhaps it is because she is not president, did not hold back her tax returns, did not constantly cheer for Vladimir Putin, did not hire a host of pro-Putin flunkies and did not have aides who lied about contact with Russian officials.

...

Nunes’s fondness for the cameras and determination to throw up dust on behalf of the president has already sparked calls from Democrats, including Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), for Nunes to recuse himself. “We’ve reached the point, after the events of this week, where it would be very difficult to maintain the credibility of the investigation if the chairman did not recuse himself from matters involving either the Trump campaign or the Trump transition team of which he was a member,” Schiff said.

...

Stopping just short of demanding Nunes recuse himself, McCain’s open criticism of Nunes nevertheless opens the door for more pressure on Nunes from the GOP. Republicans may be reading polling showing Trump’s approval dropping and support for an independent commission rising. (In the latest Quinnipiac poll voters favor an independent inquest by a 66 to 29 percent margin.) Frankly, if Republicans in Congress want to demonstrate independence from a failing president and avoid constant questions about the issue they’d be smart to offload the entire matter to an independent commission or select committee. Nunes has made his own position — and Republicans’ support for him — increasingly difficult to maintain.

UPDATE: As he often does, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) gets off the best line regarding Nunes: “The problem that he’s created is he’s gone off on a lark by himself, sort of an Inspector Clouseau investigation here.” Indeed.

Not a big fan of Graham's, but that's a great line.

Democrats have been all over TV and twitter calling for Devin Nunes to remove himself from the investigation (and rightly so.)

But now a member of the GOP has spoken out against Nunes:

Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) on Tuesday became the first Republican to call for House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) to recuse himself from the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Jones told the Hill Nunes should “absolutely” remove himself from the committee’s investigation.

Why do cranky, Devin? Is being Trump's biggest ass kisser not going as well as you had hoped it would?

He doesn't like to be questioned. Poor little snowflake. Maybe he'll go away and melt.

The FBI has arrested 10 people who are believed to have ties to Trump:

The FBI and NYPD Joint Organized Crime Task Force have arrested ten men in New York City today on charges of running a racketeering conspiracy as part of an organized crime effort. What’s notable is that these men and their crime family have alleged ties to the Russian mafia and to Donald Trump – raising the question of whether this move was made as part of the FBI’s ongoing investigation into Trump and Russia.

So is there any way to get around him blocking her testimony? It seems pretty obvious that whatever she has some damning evidence against him. It doesn't seem right that in a case like this the president would be able to stop a person who can reveal he is corrupt from telling people.

I'd love to see him get a different type of probe: one that goes up the backside. He really needs to go. I've called my Congressman's office to complain. Unfortunately, my Congressman will not be able to do much about it, because he's a Democrat.

Palmer Report is saying that Trump won't be able to stop Sally Yates from testifying in the Senate, but the article doesn't explain how he was able to block her from testifying to the House but not the Senate:

Devin Nunes' hometown newspaper isn't too happy with him right now:

Good, I hope every one of his constituents is reading about what a traitor he is to this country. I hope they all remember this the next time he's up for re-election.

There's so much awful crap happening every day with this administration that I can't even keep track of what's been posted and what hasn't. Have we talked about this yet?
