Hypocrisy, Thy Name Is Republican

Just came across this, because apparently there's more where it came from, plus he had a "relationship" with this woman for five years, so definitely infidelity.

Report: Rep. Joe Barton threatened ex-lover with police

Quote

U.S. Rep. Joe Barton told a woman that he would complain to U.S. Capitol Police if sexually explicit photographs of him and other material from their relationship were to be exposed publicly, according to a published report.

The Washington Post reported the threat Wednesday after Barton, a North Texas Republican, apologized for a nude photo of him that circulated on social media...

...However, a woman whom the [Washington] Post did not identify told the newspaper of Barton's threat over the sexually explicit photographs, videos and messages he had sent to her. The woman described sexual encounters and contact extending over five years, beginning with her posting of a message on Barton's Facebook page in 2011.

She also shared with the Post a secretly recorded telephone conversation with Barton in 2015 in which he warned her against using the material "in a way that would negatively affect my career."

The Post reported the woman, who is not married, spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect her privacy.

Mixed feelings on this.  Hate him for his hypocrisy, but revenge porn is horrible and against the law in Texas for a reason.  Don't know about revenge porn laws in DC/Virginia.  The ex-lover is playing a very dangerous game in terms of possible legal repercussions, because in addition to revenge porn, it sounds as though she was trying to extort him.

As noted earlier, his long career in politics (since 1985) is over.  Part of his district is a rural area around Ft. Worth and he's part of the Tea Bagger caucus.

They were having a consenting sexual relationship where both were adults. He’s hypocritical as hell, not to mention TACKY AS HELL (dick pics? at his age?) and guilty of terrible judgement, but it’s not little girls (and how sad is it that “not 14 year old girls “ is now a defense against this kind of behavior for Republicans?).

He’s dumb. And creepy and sneaky.

If he were a Dem, the Right would be screaming at the top of their lungs about how this proves Democrats are untrustworthy and immoral. But he’s a Republican, so he’ll just slide into obscurity and the Right will continue to claim it’s the Left that’s sexually and morally dubious. Even now, many of them are comparing Franken to Moore as equivalent offenses and yelling about Weinstein as if he’s a public servant guilty of defrauding the public because LIBRULLL ELITE HOLLYWOOD (unsaid: and Jewish, but you know that’s there).

Hypocritical assholes. And Callista Gingrich, who’s Newt’s third wife and formerly his mistress, swans off as ambassador to the goddamned VATICAN and of course we can’t talk about Newt’s private life. That has no bearing on his political life. Because Republicans are so fucking special.

Former Speaker Hastert barred from contact with minors

http://thehill.com/homenews/house/364593-former-speaker-hastert-barred-from-contact-with-minors?__twitter_impression=true

Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) has been barred from having contact with minors except in the presence of an adult who knows about his past sexual abuse of boys, according to new orders handed down by an Illinois judge.

The Chicago Tribune reported on Tuesday that Hastert is prohibited from having contact with any minors “except in the presence of a responsible adult who is aware of the nature of his/her background and current offense.”

The Tribune reported that the new terms of his release also bar Hastert from possessing “pornographic, sexually oriented, or sexually stimulating materials, including visual, auditory, telephonic, or electronic media, computer programs, or services,” as well as using any “sex-related telephone numbers.”

Spoiler

The new order was handed down by U.S. District Judge Thomas Durkin following a report from the probation department, according to the Tribune.

Hastert was released from a Minnesota federal prison in July after serving 13 months for a bank fraud conviction linked to his efforts to conceal his past sexual abuse of teenage boys.

The former Speaker pleaded guilty to a May 2015 indictment that accused him of illegally structuring bank withdrawals and lying to the FBI in an effort to pay off someone known publicly as "Individual A," who claimed that Hastert had abused him and later offered him a sum of $3.5 million to stay silent.

Hastert admitted to the judge at his April 2016 sentencing hearing that he had sexually abused children in 1970s during his time as a wrestling coach at Yorkville High School in Illinois.

Durkin called Hastert a "serial child molester" at the sentencing, after prosecutors found at least five individuals Hastert abused during his time as a coach prior to his political career.

Good god. Heart of Fire church. Oh, there's gonna be fire. Eternal fire.

Anyone who attends this church should be investigated. When your "pastor" makes disgustingly demeaning racist comments about someone of color and you think "Hell, yeah!" you are probably not a person of character yourself. And now this.

The local law enforcement in this area should be very careful about ignoring this behavior. Law suits can hurt.

Here's a good op-ed about how the GOP went all in for pedophilia, and they can never undo it

Quote

Not only did Roy Moore lose Alabama’s Senate race against Doug Jones, but in the process, the Republican Party cemented its status as a safe space for pedophilia.

A moment of moral cowardice will stain the party for years to come.

Despite his sordid past and bigoted present, Moore was able to count on the support of Donald Trump, who used his status as president to aggressively campaign on Moore’s behalf. Trump, who has admitted to sexually assaulting women, was eager to back his fellow Republican, even as credible reports of pedophilia surfaced.

Moore allegedly fondled an underaged girl when he was in 30s, and also made inappropriate sexual contact with other teenage girls.

He also has a history of making bigoted statements about Muslims and LGBT Americans. He was removed from Alabama’s Supreme Court for refusing to recognize the First Amendment’s separation of church and state and then again for defying United States Supreme Court’s ruling on marriage equality.

None of these factors was enough to hurt his support among Republicans, and most in the party were willing to stand with him and actively support these positions.

The Alabama Senate seat was vacated when Trump chose Jeff Sessions, once rejected for a federal judicial position due to his racist beliefs, to serve as his attorney general. That position will now be filled by Sen.-elect Doug Jones, who successfully prosecuted the Ku Klux Klan for murder.

Thanks to the political maneuvering of its leadership, the linkage of pedophilia and the Republican Party will be cemented, further turning the party that once claimed Abraham Lincoln into one in which serial sexual assault, racism, and now child molestation is no stumbling block in the pursuit of power.

Trump pushed Moore, specifically citing that he would be a reliable vote for his priorities despite his sordid past. It is an echo of the calculation made by Speaker Paul Ryan, who has merged his agenda with Trump’s.

Votes for millionaires’ tax cuts and cutting the safety net of programs like Obamacare, Medicare, and Medicaid are what the Republican Party seeks. If it means they have to turn a blind eye to pedophilia and misogyny, they have clearly made their choice.

They chose poorly, and in deep-red Alabama where Democrats have continually come up short a line was drawn in the sand between depravity and decency.

This has just begun.

In the coming mid-term elections, voters across the country will also have a chance to repudiate the pro-pedophile Republicans. The playing field in most congressional districts will not be nearly as favorable to Republicans as Alabama was, even more so now that the party is weighed down with the legacy of Trump and Moore.

That was the scene that played out in Virginia, where the gubernatorial candidate running on Trump’s racist, anti-immigrant agenda was resoundingly rejected as Democrats won up and down the entire ticket.

Republicans chose to be the party that welcomes in pedophilia. Americans have the power to make them pay for it.

In the pursuit of power, morals matter not.

A Florida Senate investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against Sen. Jack Latvala has been referred to law enforcement after a retired judge found that the Clearwater Republican may have committed both sexual harassment and a sexual assault against multiple women, including allegations of “quid pro quo” physical contact or sexual intimacy “in exchange for support of legislative initiatives.”

The special master’s report, delivered to the Senate Rules Committee on Tuesday by retired Judge Ronald V. Swanson, concluded there is probable cause to launch an investigation and hearing by the Rules Committee to determine if Latvala is guilty of violating Senate conduct rules and should be sanctioned or removed from office.

In a stunning development, however, the special master also referred the case for criminal investigation, concluding “a witness other than Complainant, and seemingly confirmed in text messages” from Latvala that “appear to violate ethics rules, and may violate laws prohibiting public corruption.”

“The Special Master recommends these allegations be immediately referred to law enforcement for further investigation. An internal investigation pursuant to Senate Rules, referral to the Florida Commission on Ethics, and/or some other appropriate mechanism of investigation of the alleged ethics violations is also recommended,” Swanson wrote in a 33-page report.

I upvoted your post @47of74, because, first, thank you for posting,  I'm glad because light is shining on criminal behavior and corruption, but it's a sad note that our numerous new emojis don't even come close to what we're dealing with.  We need an entire class of hybrid emojis to reflect -- thank you for posting -- it's horrible -- glad it's exposed.  Like happy/sad threater masks.

The Tennessee distributor of GOP hypocrisy

Quote

A Republican congressman slept with patients when he was a doctor, had sex with his subordinates and despite a pro-life voting record, pressured women in his life to have abortions.

Scott DesJarlais, who represents Tennessee's 4th district, has so far largely escaped mounting scrutiny of legislators' conduct that has forced four to quit and two more to say they will not seek re-election.

But public records show that he had a lengthy record of dubious behavior before being elected as part of the Tea Party wave to represent the largely rural south-east Tennessee district, which stretches from just outside Chattanooga to close to the suburbs of Nashville.

DesJarlais, 53, doesn't dispute the facts. He even paid a fine levied by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners in 2013 for having sex with his patients.

I've heard of those rings, but I'd always assumed they were merely a decorative thing.  I had no idea they served a purpose other than to decorate an appendage that is rather uninspiring when flaccid and is pretty much out of sight during sex.

I guess this answers my question of how they're kept from falling off when just walking around during the day.  I also assume they are nicely rounded and not like a band that might have sharp edges.  How does one go about getting fitted for a penis ring?  You wouldn't want one that is too tight or too loose.  I can imagine all sorts of problems if it didn't fit properly.
