Pope Francis is ignoring them, with good success. Here in Italy the big news was that Ettore Gotti Tedeschi, former director of IOR (Vatican's bank), signed the petition. IOR unpopularity around here is second only to baby killers and one of Francis good points in popular perception is that he got back control over a deranged IOR. Being criticized for heresy by a former IOR lay man will award Francis popularity bonus points.

"The Joy of Love" just SOUNDS heretical. Like some ominous plot of the devil.

Well, really, how would joy and love fit into anything? /s

Quick!  Someone declare an Antipope!  Where will we put him?  Avignon's already been done, so France is out.  England is probably out too.  Germany?  No, Lutheranism.  Austria?  That feels like a REAL contender....but maybe Spain?

No.  Futurama had the answer.  We need PURE neutrality.  No nation privileged over any other.  No continent should own the Pope.  We launch him into space.  Space Pope.  IT'S TIME FOR THE SPACE POPE.

Oooooooooh buddy, I am so excited!  I've always wanted to live in a time with multiple Popes!

There already are some antipopes, but they are generally regarded as eccentric kooks even by other trads. There's Pope Michael in Kansas:

There's a documentary about him on YouTube, but I can't link to it on my phone. Just put in Pope Michael documentary and it should be easy to find.

A former Capuchin monk considered himself Pope Pius XIII in Montana:

I think there are some others, but these are the main two who come to mind.

Pope Michael, is an American citizen and a conclavist claimant to the papacy. He stated in 2009 that he had approximately 30 "solid" followers

30 people.  This guy is really nailing this papacy thing.

@Cleopatra7, thank you for the links.  I know what I will be doing tonight!

Pope Francis didn't think all that highly of 2017 either.

Quote

Pope Francis thought 2017 was a terrible year, too.

In his last public address of this tumultuous year, the pontiff called 2017 a “wasted” year that was filled with death and lies, harming the environment and humanity as a whole.

Speaking at an evening vespers service in St. Peter’s Basilica, the Pope said humanity had “wasted and wounded” the past year “in many ways with works of death, with lies and injustices.”

The Pope did not reference any specific events or individuals in his remarks. But the stern address closed off a year in which he often spoke out directly against actions that he saw as an affront to humanity.

Dear Orange Fornicate, Yeah, he's talking bout you, you dumbass piece of fecal material.

The Pope is too classy to directly attack someone.  Or make up childish nicknames for those he disagrees with.

Unlike someone we all know.

The picture of the Pope and Donald Trump together was hilarious, you could tell by his face that he didn't want to meet him. Pope Francis and his shade throwing almost makes me want to start attending mass again.
