Beer Yoga is now a thing

Mmmmm, beer!

Quote

Nothing like putting down an icy cold beer. Except, of course, achieving a higher state of being and eventual transcendence of the Self through the practice of yoga.

But what if you could do both, at the same time?

Germany's BierYoga A.K.A BeerYoga bills itself as the "marriage of two great loves—beer and yoga. Both are centuries-old therapies for mind, body and soul," according to its website.

"BeerYoga is fun but it's no joke," founder and yogi Jhula writes. "We take the philosophies of yoga and pair it with the pleasure of beer-drinking to reach your highest level of consciousness."

Thanks @47of74! You reminded me that I need to pick up my favorite beer-Abita Purple Haze-before next weekend when DD is here.

Might have to try that some time!  According to their web site the main East Dubuque liquor stores both sell Abita.

@47of74, its a raspberry beer, with Baron Samedi on the label. I don't like their Turbo Dog-its too harsh for me but my hubs likes it. I'm going to try some of the other offerings this summer-may have to have a cousin ship me some though...it can be difficult to find here. I usually get my Purple Haze at Cost Plus.

Boy oh boy, do I ever have a story for you.
There's this kinda odd character who has been involved with both of the tiny Jewish religious organizations in my community for about three or four years.  He reads as knowlegable, devout, and quite possibly ASD or neurodiverse in some other way.
When I started attending services at both organizations almost weekly after my husband died in Feb, I started crossing paths with X quite a lot more often than in the past.  Which didn't seem like a big deal.  And then my oldest started refusing to attend services.  Said going there was "scary."  Found other safe things for him to do and carried on, under the principle that kids notice what their parents are passionate about and dedicated to but that forcing kids eventually backfires in every possible way.  Then my girls started refusing to attend as well.  Made arrangements for all kids, and carried on.  Then we had an incident at our public library involving a grown man who approached an 8 year old child and asked if he could tickle the child (he was not the child's parent).  Tickler was arrested.  As any parent would, I sat down and had a "let's remember how we deal with uncomfortable situations" conversation with each of my kids.
And they all started talking about X, independently of each other.  That he watches them in weird ways.  That he's "scary" to talk to (I have heard many of the interactions the kids mentioned - what they call scary is "he talks to us like he thinks he's part of our family").  My son said "I'm not sure that X knows that when I talk about zombies, it's just a game I'm playing.  I think he thinks he really does see zombies."
Concerned parent of three vulnerable children did what any sensible parent would do under these circumstances:  I brought my concerns to the board of directors (the org doesn't have a rabbi).  In the past week, I've been so completely brushed off by the board that all the value I personally get out of the organizations Shabbat services is not worth trying to mend fences.  Yesterday was my last service there.  Next week, I start commuting to Next City North, to a well established chabad synagogue.  Which I don't want to do.  Chabad is pretty much the opposite of the egaletarian congregation I'm participating in now.  But Chabad is also the best of the limited choices within reasonable driving range.
I know that at some point in the next month, the board is going to miraculously find the will to deal with their X problem - because they want me.  They want my kids in their service, they want my voice, they want my knowledge, and my willingness to help lead services.  But I don't think they'll be able to do enough.  They don't want to protect my kids and that's a problem.

We’re making progress on the pupper adoption front. After much persuasion (including the financial kind) the rescue has agreed to do our home visit on Thursday and if we pass that, hold her until we’re back from our trip. The key is that between now and Thursday someone doesn’t put in for her, pass their reference check, and have a successful home visit. I know things will work out the way they should, but damn if we aren’t attached to this little girl already.

      Need DIY help.
Can someone help me get into my shed without calling the management firm or a locksmith, please?
Have a shed with a lock on doorknob and deadbolt.  Same key fits both locks.  Turns just fine in doorknob and can feel it lock/unlock so non-issue.
Deadbolt:  first key just went in and didn’t turn.  After some WD-40 and lifting the door a little key now turns but not all the way.  Once we get in will be fine as just won’t use deadbolt - but have no idea how to make it turn.  Are there tricks I don’t know about?
off to google, just thought someone might have some tips.

I'm watching some #exvangelical drama unfold on Twitter and at a glance it looks like a reproduction of some of the same dynamics these people are trying to leave behind? My eyes are glazing over trying to wrap my mind around all of it and I'm already an outsider looking in.

I have been at my employer for 25 years as of the 4th of this month. Friday, I found a really nice card on my desk and it had $500 inside!  I was absolutely floored and very appreciative of it. And the timing is perfect, we had plumbing done in our bathroom a couple of months ago and last week we discovered that they did not do everything they were paid for and they did a bad job on what the did do.  Of course, it's past their short warranty...

I will never finish unpacking.  At this point I’m just on a quest to find my favorite vase and yoga pants.
However today I did get the TV where it belongs, so there’s that.
