Some good news (for once) out of Georgia;

ajc.com/news/local/judge-orders-stiff-sentences-for-two-douglasville-hate-crime/pHWEb5zXxdVqGBGxGNtorI/

Quote

As the defendants wept, a Douglas County judge on Monday sentenced two people to lengthy prison terms for their part in disrupting an African-American birthday party with Confederate flags, racial slurs and armed threats in 2015.

Superior Court Judge William McClain castigated the two, Kayla Rae Norton, 25, and Jose Ismael Torres, 26, for perpetrating what he called a hate crime.

He sentenced Torres to 20 years, with 13 to serve in prison; Norton was given 15 years, with six to serve. Upon their release, McClain ordered them to be permanently bashnished from Douglas County.

“Their actions were motivated by racial hatred,” said McClain.

My words to the convicts: Enjoy prison, assholes.

I don't feel the least bit sorry for either Norten or Torres, nor their families.  They made their decision and they can live with the prison time that comes with it now.

Well done to the judge - how is it in any way appropriate to threaten people with guns, let alone at a child's birthday party???

I hope prison time gives them time to think about things and they become truly remorseful, but somehow I don't think they are. They will certainly meet with and have to get on with a diverse range of people in prison.

HOLY CRAP!  People get less for murder.   Hope they find Jesus (or somebody) in prison and become better people by the time they get out.

Good on the judge for taking this type of hate crime seriously.  Might make someone else think twice about idiotic behavior.

They will find somebody alright. And hopefully they will get EXACTLY the same treatment they dispensed to those children. Assholes.

Wow. After release they are banished from the county.  Kudos to that judge.  I hope those poor children get counseling and can feel safe.

I feel for the couples three kids having them as parents, they are only sorry they got caught. They showed no compassion for the children who were having a party or anyone else. The fact it came weeks after the Dylann Roof case must have terrified people. They deserve the sentence they got.

Goes to show not all Georgia Judges are crazy, or at least easily baited.

Yeah, I have my doubts that either one of them will come to Jesus while they're in the can.  What will probably happen is that they'll go running into the arms of the various prison gangs there for protection.
