An Oklahoma State Representative wants to enact a law that would make it illegal for a woman to get an abortion without her sexual partner’s consent.

Republican Rep. Justin Humphrey, who was elected to represent Oklahoma’s 19th district in the state legislature last year, drafted House Bill 1441 on January 9, which states, “No abortion shall be performed in this state without the written informed consent of the father of the fetus.” Exceptions would be made if the pregnancy is a result of rape or incest ― though there are no details as to how a woman would have to prove that rape or incest occurred ― as well as if the woman’s life is put in danger by the pregnancy.

According to the Intercept’s Jordan Smith, the bill was tabled without comment by the House Public Health Committee on Februrary 8, but appears to be on the Committee’s agenda for Tuesday.

The Intercept also originally reported that Humphrey wrote the bill because men have been “excluded...from these kinds of decisions.”

“I understand that [women] feel like that is their body,” he told the Intercept on February 8. He continued, saying that he prefers to call women “hosts”:

I feel like it is a separate — what I call them is, is you’re a ‘host.’ And you know when you enter into a relationship you’re going to be that host and so, you know, if you pre-know that then take all precautions and don’t get pregnant. So that’s where I’m at. I’m like, hey, your body is your body and be responsible with it. But after you’re irresponsible then don’t claim, well, I can just go and do this with another body, when you’re the host and you invited that in.

Should the bill be passed, women would have to start getting men’s permission for abortion starting November of this year ― it would also join Arkansas on the list of states that let other people interfere with a woman’s federally protected right to abortion.

. :2wankers: We get it, you just want to control women only, cause you know we can't make decisions for our self

At least he's clear,  no sappy rhetoric about motherhood, life etc, women are incubators, that's it. And you can't let an incubator decide anything, the only true, male person involved needs to take the decision.

He just wants women to pay for the irredeemable sin of opening their legs

*gag* it is insulting and dehumanising beyond words.

Does he really think that it would lower abortion rates? Does he really think that men will want to take responsibility for unwanted pregnancies? This sort of law would make many situations unbelievably difficult without a reason other than denying women a right.

What if the woman wants to keep the fetus and the man wants an abortion? If he thinks a man should have the definitive say on a woman's body then she should be forced to abort when the man wants it right?

What will be next on their agenda?  Women can't take birth control or permanently end their child bearing ability without a man's ok?  What is this, the 1800s?  Fuck them!  My body, my choice.  Men have a choice too.  They can keep their dick to themselves if they aren't sure what their sexual partner's decision with respect to pregnancy will be.  Look!  I solved their problem for them.

Maybe this can be a new movement? Keep your dick to yourself!

Wow. How ummm, The Handmaid's Tale.

Someone saw the trailer for the upcoming series (because I'm having trouble believing they read...), and thought hey, what a great idea!

Keep their dicks in check? How could they be expected to do that? Dicks are supreme beings and just go where they will.

And I'm assuming that this law will be accompanied by laws that make it easier to get child support from a man and that makes the penalty for not paying child supporter stricter.

Oh wait, those laws don't punish women for having sex, so the Republicans don't care.

I agree that this is probably the most honest republican men have been to letting the rest of their women constituents that you're just a host and nothing more in the world when you get pregnant!

It just makes me nervous as to what would be the final result

Oh, come on, RoseWilder, you know that babiezzz only matter before they're born. After that, unless they are "good" (read: white, Christian, born to a married couple consisting of a man and a woman), they are just a drain on society and don't matter.

Please know that is not what I think, but it seems to be the belief of every fugly anti-abortion activist.
