Jessa adapts to motherhood better than all of them in my opinion. Even Anna. She seems to genuinely be in complete love with her children.

I totally agree, but I still worry about dethronement :( here's hoping she has enough help with her boys, that she doesn't get overwhelmed, and they both get the attention they need and deserve...

It could be worse and hey if Spurgy (which i am kind of used to now LOL) doesnt like it, he can always go by Elliot. Lawson and Nathan Bates go by their middle names (being William Lawson and Kenneth Nathaniel respectively)

@marmalade yes... I mentioned it. I actually thought they MEANT to name him for Henry Wilberforce, aand was gobsmacked. Could NOT stop laughing when I realized they had NO clue that William Wilberforce had a son named Henry.....much less one that converted to Catholicism. So son no. 2 now bears the name of a pretty well known Catholic theologian...... I just love it.

It's even more hilarious to me that one (ONE!) Google search that took .47 second could have revealed this to them. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but if I had to name a baby, I'd be googling the crap out of the potential names to make sure I didn't accidentally name it the same name as a porn star or serial killer.

So, the name Wilberforce has been rattling around in my head. I thought I remembered a comic strip character with the name Wilberforce. I googled it, and was reminded that Wilberforce was the son in the comic strip The Born Loser. I read it when I was a kid. I am surprised to see that the comic strip is still going.

The oddness of #1's first name and #2's middle name aside, is anyone else THRILLED that #2 did NOT get an "S" name?  Here's hoping the Dullards follow suit and their #2 isn't Isaiah/Isaac/Ishmael/any other boy's name that begins with an "I".

Better yet, that Benessa's next spawn will be an "I" and then a... "T"...

Not much. A quick wiki search turned up Henry listed under children (hotlinked), even before I clicked on the full link. All he had to do was click a link. Just one link.

Now, I'm just going to laugh and laugh and laugh at their colassal blunder.

Look at the Bateses naming their first daughter Michal and then regretting it when they actually read the Bible.

Anyone else think of "Charlotte's web" when they see Wilber?

I keep thinking about ET when I see people write Elliott and Henry.  The main human character was Eliott and was played by Henry Thomas.  I keep hearing the ET voice saying Elliott as his first word.   LOL

He isn't going to school and thus won't be bullied for his name. And all the other fundie children will be forced to treat him like royalty because he's a Duggar, so he's safe in the bubble.

He would have gotten teased horribly when he got older.  Spurge Semen is just an easy jump from Spurge Seewall so I asked my dear husband whose group of friends are fond of making up names like that decided on JJ.  How he got that you may ask?  Well two names for ejaculate so he said Double Jizz which led to JJ.  So a nasty name without getting in trouble at school or with parents.  This from a man who calls his friend Rich, Nog.  That comes from Dick being short for Richard so instead of calling him that and get in trouble you use another word for dick which is head which leads to noggin hence the name Nog.  Now just about everyone including his family use that as his nickname not knowing why.  They guys get a laugh out of it.

I can't believe some of you called the Wilberforce thing! Personally, it just brings to mind Charlotte's Web meets the melodic power metal band Dragonforce... :dramallama-nanner:

Well I think the lesson we all (including Jessa) have learned is don't let Bin near the babies.

Seriously? Spurgeon and.... Henry. I'm glad they will be homeschooled because Hank and his mates would be targeting Spurge in middle school.

Poor #3- Tozer Brady. Calling it now.

How is that pronounced? TOE-zer?

There are so many nice boys names in the bible...both my sons have Old Testament first names and both have family names for their middle names...My daughter was supposed to be Andrea Nicole...until I saw her.

I have a feeling Jessa and I must have very similar taste in names. I always liked Elliott (I prefer two Ts.) And my son's name is Henry. (Kind of annoyed she used it, but whatever. It's a popular name these days.)

And now I'm off to read the thread since I haven't yet. If anyone here is making fun of the name Henry...I may have to downvote....  :56247954758f7_32(8):

Was it mentioned that William Wilberforce had a son named.....HENRY who converted to CATHOLICISM???

Someone didn't do their research! :irony:

eta: Evidence

:pb_lol: Yeah... I'm definitely enjoying this screenshot, and can't wait for Henry to get old enough to start Googling his own name:

Congrats on your sweet little Catholic Convert, Blessabin!

ETA: What gets me is that they spend so much time after birth just deciding on a name... like, they give you this impression that they're just putting SOOO much thought into it... and yet this is what comes of it. Don't they look up the name? Is this part of their Christian Warrior efforts or something -- to just flood this Catholic convert's google page with their baby and replace him in the search results? lol

Henry's a great name, but WOW... they either lack foresight or are really petty in their implementation of the Christian Warrior Quiver concept. I don't know, but it's kind of hilarious :pb_lol:

Prince Harry's real name is Henry. Nicknames for Henry include Hank, Harry, Huck, and Hal. Because English makes no sense. It beats up other languages and goes through their pockets for loose grammar :P

One I never understood was the nickname Jack for the name John.

lolz - i really thought ben and jessa would have a hard time coming up with something worse than spurgeon, but wilberforce is fairly competitive. touche, benessa.

also, the sheer length of time they took debating both of these names after the birth, the fact that jessa said they hadn't even had serious conversations about the name this time before the birth (per that post on duggar family blog), and these wildly disparate first/second names that make it seem like the two of them were just stubbornly unwilling to compromise. if jessa hated spurgeon so much, why in the world would ben insist on it? same with wilberforce?  just one of many reasons i don't have a lot of hope for them as a couple.

The only way they can make this work is to give their next child a bizarre first name and normal middle. If not the next child then at least a fair number of their future kids. It's so unfair to give one kid a normal first name and his sibling a super weird one. I wouldn't be bothered by weird middle names but they screwed that up by wasting Elliott as the middle name instead of the first.

How surprising they announced the name the same day the show airs. So predictable

If Jill and Derick go with a T boy name we will have caca.

I really like the name Henry, although I wouldn't use it personally. It's pretty popular right now. A friend of mine has a wee Henry sometimes called Hank, and I know of several other young Henrys. Wilberforce, though? That's a joke name to me. I'd never expect to see someone use it seriously. I'm glad they didn't stubbornly double down and use the weird name for the first name again, though.

People keep saying how much better Elliot is than Spurgeon. I used to really like the name Eliot but ever since someone pointed out to me that it's almost toilet spelled backwards I can't imagine using it. Elliott or Elliot get a little further from backwards toilet but not enough for my brain.

Thank goodness this child has a normal name. I found it odd that they named their kid "after someone who worked to abolish slavery" (their words). Not that it's not admirable, just that they'd even have those thoughts to begin with. Who knows what's going on with them. Surely that wasn't covered at Duggar Academy, so at least they're learning something?

Also, another thought: It's kinda weird to me to name your kid after "someone who walked with God". Wouldn't you want to give your kid a unique name and have THEM walk with God? Have them be the enduring example for others? I don't know maybe I just don't like the idea of naming your kid after someone you've never met.
