I believe I spot Maxwells

the most recent post on the Bontrager blo g. Apparently the Bontragers' church puts on a huge Christmas play every year and the Maxwells came into town to see it. Go back a couple of posts and you can read more about the play-- apparently it's about a family of Jewish Holocaust refugees who convert to Christianity after hearing the Christmas story? Sounds pretty tasteless IMO.

Yep I see Scary Mary, Forgotten Jesse, and Stud John.  This may be rhe reason they didnt do Walk thru Bethlehem.

Do they do anything other than clean? I swear half their posts are about cleaning. The only time cleaning is interesting is when watching Hoarders.

There must be some giant dust vortex that sits above the Maxwells' neighborhood in Leavenworth for them to need to do so much cleaning.

We do clean the restaurant where I work very frequently. Little things you wouldn't think of. And yet, our ceiling fans get dusted only once a week. And it doesn't take is very long, either, depending on how thorough they choose to get. Usually we just use a long handled dust mop and that's it.

We clean that store a lot. It doesn't take very long. What are the maxwells cleaning hat it takes them longer than it does us?

This week on my next off day I plan to deep clean my apartment and get rid of stuff I don't wear/need, but I've never thought about blogging about it. I work and have a life so I don't have time to do this everyday. I doubt anyone gives a shit what my apartment looks like other than my parents when they visit.

Netflix and wine were priorities today.

I suspect it's a combination of limited options of things to do and massive OCD.

With this, their second visit to the Bontragers (that we know of) it's becoming more and more obvious that the blog is less of a reflection of the reality of the Maxwells' lives and more Steve's idea of what makes good PR for his failing brand.

I have a feeling that all the reversal kids, including Joe, have at least fragments of lives outside the home that we just don't hear about. No mention of Joe's non-fundie job because he's working with heathens. No mention of the visits the family have with the Hales or Bontragers. No mention of Steve and Teri attending Jinger's wedding or other Duggar events before that. A while back, I posted a question about whether Sarah's new book would be something like Duggar girls' book (which I know the girls have read because they reviewed it way back) but it didn't get posted. I bet we'll hear nothing about Steve and Teri's IBLP/ATI talks either because they're not Brand Maxwell.

Steve seems to be more and more obsessed with controlling anything that might portray other families being successful or accomplished (in fundie terms anyway, which doesn't mean much) - especially when those families might be competing with theirs.

Steve will probably argue "privacy of the other families" like they did with the Frost family after Joe's marriage, but he's not fooling anyone.

That's why we're left with endless cleaning and birthday posts and not much else.

I'm not familiar with the Bontragers - do they have kidults too, could a courtship be in the works?

I am naive and foolish and therefore haven't given up hope on Mary and Anne getting married.

5 "kidults" of 10 kids. Chelsey is 26, Mitchell is almost 25, Allison is almost 23, Carson is 21, and Josh is almost 20. Denver comes of age at the end of this year. None are married. Chelsey's blog can be fascinating. Alison and Mitchell have or had jobs outside the family; Mitchell even lived away from home for a time. I read somewhere that they don't do courtship as strict as the Duggars, but as none are married, it's hard to say. Even harder to say if there could be an inter-marriage with the Maxwells. But I'm sure there must have at least been interest; maybe Steve is fasting about that because that would be out of his comfort zone.

Hmm.

Bontragers are Farmers and Stud John has an irrigation business.

I still say anybody in Leavenworth could observe the family doing all sorts of worldly things they'd never in a billion-year contract write about on the blog.

What grinds my gears is that Steve has taught thousands of people that letting ANY outsider in to a family as friends is like putting a drop of raw sewage into a glass of drinking water.

Yet he and his family have Friends out the wazoo, so to speak.

Maybr this is newish, since his children are old enough to have internalized the warning against getting too close to anybody.

The kids sure aren't afraid to get close to people approaching the sales table at a show, I'll tell you what. And that was a good 5 years ago, when Nate & Mel only had A & B. So Mary and Anna were teens.

Maxwell hierarchy of interaction:

1: FAMILY

2: Customers

3: Steve-approved friends.

But there are PLENTY of friends, despite Steve's frantic image-management otherwise.

Big, paunchy hypocrite!

Cleaning Melanie's house because the baby is close to arriving is different from cleaning in Maxhell on a Tuesday because.....????

I'm lost. How is this blog worthy or mentionable at all. All they fucking ever do is clean.

Joseph has a non-fundie job? How did I miss that???

Joseph work at Swift Otter - the current family business.

John is a real estate agent. I don't know if that's full time or his only current job. I can't imagine him not being part of the Maxwell machine and working for one of their many money making attempts.

I meant John, sorry. It must have been the Ebil Alcohol typing for me.

Well, one thing we don't know about is Steve's attitudes to his children having friends once they are adults. We don't really know anything about if, or whether, there is any loosening of the sheltering once the children are "of age", whatever that age is.

There has to be some kind of allowing the kidults to venture out of the compound and socialise with others as "needed" otherwise the boys wouldn't be able to do their jobs and the girls wouldn't be truly effective SAHDs.

But, as you say, friends would definitely have to be Steve-approved and would be down the hierarchy - but at least it's better than having no friends at all.

Very true, @Captain Obvious!  On reflection I am happy for the second Maxwell generation. And on further reflection, surely only the few, the frightened, would take the sheltering behavior to the extreme of total family isolation. (*Those* poor kids...)

I'm surprised they own a baby carrier.  What happened to blanket training and little children either staying out of the way quietly, or being roped into helping?

New post up.  They went to an anti choice rally in Leavenworth.  If I wanted the government inside my body I'd fuck a Senator!

Invisible Elissa looks pregnant and Stud John is nowhere to be found.

They also brought the little kids too.  Kids 4 and under have no idea what the fuck an abortion is, they're just props to assholes like the Maxwells.

The Maxwells were also spotted at the Bible Bee with The Bontrangers

There is some Maxwell/Bontranger info and speculation in the 2017 predictions thread.

I don't know the names of all the Bontrager boys, but they'd be too young for any of the Maxwell girls except Mary. A Mary/Bontrager pairing is probably the best she can hope for, especially if she goes to live near his family. But the idea of a Bontrager girl married to a Maxwell boy is depressing, unless the Maxwell boy leaves the compound (which is unlikely).

@SPHASH,  when you wrote "If I wanted the government inside my body, I'd fuck a senator" it occurred to me that would have been a good sign for the Women's March.  I still have my sign from NARAL-Prochoice America "Keep your laws off my.."with the outline of a cat on one side and Trust Women on the other.
