Oh my goodness. This is horrifying. I hope they were unaware of this-- and that now they know, the engagement will be off. 

Although it doesn't seem like they believe a woman can be raped by her husband, so maybe they think she has nothing to worry about? What utter lunacy.

When I first discovered his fb I thought he was creepy. His holier than thou posts, offensive sense of humour and eyes reminded me of Joshly. Now I know why.

I also find the way he talks about Tabitha to be creepy, not sweet.

I'm not familiar with the sexual offender registry. So is it sure that he raped someone or could it be other things? Either way it's not at all ok what he did.
And they marry off their sheltered daughter to such a man? Just unbelievable.

But if you look at the Paine family and what Dr. Paine has been accused of and what IBLP is like, it is 100% believable and no one should be surprised.  I'm absolutely not shocked at all. I would be surprised if they had refused  the guy based on that incident. Despite how cute and cuddly Chad and Erin Paine seem, Chad's father is not a nice person.

He probably said he was drunk at the time, and now that he doesn't drink there's no danger of him repeating that behavior.

This is all sickening.  I have a feeling the Paines along with Tabitha knew about this.  He must have known that if he didn't confess and they found out later they would never trust him.  This way he repents and is forgiven.

And people like Gil Bates and Dr. Paine are afraid that there little girls might be exposed to worldly things like college, education, girls with green hair when they let the real danger marry into their families or put their daughters right in front of rapists and abusive men. It is so sickening and the hyprocisy just burns. I really hope that some shitty tabloid will get aware of this and make a big story out of it. Although I feel really sad for Tabitha who surely wants a husband and a family of her own.

On facebook Tim refers to Tabitha as an angel a few times. For some reason I find that quite creepy and it puts my hackles up. I wouldn't want to be somebody's 'angel'. I'd rather be their flawed equal partner.

I wouldn't be surprised if part of the logic is that by marrying girls off to the rapist monsters in their midst, the sex offenders will "settle down" (or at least limit their rapes to one victim who, as a married woman, won't be "sullied" like a single woman would be). Of course, we know from Joshley how well that worked. It's unbelievably fucked up.
