Video:

-I just got off the phone with the Government Accountability Office (GAO) - (202-512-5500) in support of Senator Warren's request to audit the President Elect's finances for conflicts of interest. I asked the person who answered what the most effective way to be sure my support counted. She said to email a new address set up specifically for this issue, as well as the two administrators. Their names are:

unitedwedream.org  is run by the undocumented students who got visas and work permits under Obama's executive order (DACA) and are now likely to lose their legal status, financial aid, and future hopes, with the added blow that by trusting the system and going public, they put their families in jeopardy as well as themselves.

I know some of these kids and I am heartbroken and furious.

@RoseWilderHad a great post explaining what to do if the Congressional staffer you speak with is obnoxious or rude.

This should definitely be pinned somewhere. Great advice!

I firmly believe that Democrats need to play the long game like Republicans did over the last couple of decades, patiently building support at local and state levels, so districts could be gerrymandered. This is not something that is quick or easy. The next time districts will be redrawn is following the 2020 census. If Drumpf and Pence gut the U.S. and world like we fear they will, hopefully there will be some backlash. If there are more local and state Democrats voted in during the off year elections, we might have a chance during redistricting.

To that end, I've signed up as a volunteer with my local Democratic Party organization. I just Googled my local county + Democratic Party to get their website. The national organization also has quite a bit of good information on their website.

In response to @VelociRapture and @RoseWilder above, representatives from both houses are required by law to open and  log all pieces of U.S. Mail that are sent to their offices.  So, put your issues or concerns in a good old fashioned letter rather than an email.  Also, could someone post the current list from #GrabYourWallet.  I'm not on Twitter, but that has a list of all retailers that do business with Trump.  Some I already know of are New Balance, Macy's, and Marshalls.

I was sent this public Google Doc today. It's a really superb resource, IMO. It's basically a calling list for different issues. It says it will change each week, so please check back. This is if, like me, you are really bad at just doing something and basically need a To Do list to even perform daily functions.

Weekly Call To Action:

This is another public Google Doc on how to talk to your loved ones who voted for Trump:

It is open for anyone to suggest a change, but if you don't want to see all the suggested changes, you can click from "Suggesting" in the right hand side/corner to "Viewing." I've saved it to my drive because I need to read this like every day because I am super bad at talking to my in-laws about it. Also check back with this one since it is constantly being updated.

Here's the list. She updates it whenever a company pulls the Trump products from their line:

Also, there is a tab at the top of the page you click on that lists alternative places to shop that don't feature Trump products.

So far, shoes.com and bellacor have responded to the boycott by pulling all Trump products!

No! Not New Balance! They're the only tennis shoes that make my feet happy. I don't think mine will last 4-8 years.:argumentative::dislike:

Have you bought any lately? Their products have been horrible lately. I bought a new pair in September (this was before I realized that they were pro-Trump) and they were not comfortable at all. I have a high arch and a few other feet problems, and normally New Balance is the only brand that are comfortable for me. But they were really uncomfortable.

By mid-October, just six weeks after I had bought them, they were starting to fall apart. My Mom bought some about a month ago and she said they were the least comfortable pair she's every owned.

I don't know what's going on with their products, but they're going downhill.

The last pair I bought was in the spring. I'm weird about my tennies- I'll wear the new ones sparingly, up until vacation time. Usually my vacations include some 1-4 mile hikes, but, since we see and do other things too, I wear tennis shoes on them instead of hiking shoes. The tennis shoes I wear are my pair I've been wearing for a year. That way, I'm not as sad if they get dirty. After vacation, my new tennis shoes become the shoes I wear most of the time. As a result, I haven't worn them enough to know how they'll last. My pair that I bought last year was satisfactory. I"ll know better in a year how I like the pair from this year.

Thank you so much for this @RoseWilder.  It can't be stressed enough that voting with your wallet may sometimes have an even greater impact than what you do at the polls.  As to running shoes, Reebok has been giving out free ones for all those who have posted videos to social media of flushing, burning, or otherwise destroying their New Balance.  I just became a Reebok fan.

300 businesses wrote an open letter to Donald Trump letting him know they are committed to fighting global warming and that they want him to work on it too:

http://www.lowcarbonusa.org/

The letter lists all 300 businesses. You can use that as a handy guide when you want to shop at pro-environment businesses.

There's a Snopes article on the Trump/New Balance issue; I think I'll do some more reading on it.  We're a NB house, since we all have wide feet and finding kid shoes in a wide size is difficult at best.  (My main beef with them is that every time I find a model I like, they stop making it by the time I need another pair.)

OK, I was at Sams Club browsing the high-end purses, and was startled by an Ivanka Trump bag! I wasn't expecting to see that. Now I've got to complain. No Costco near me.  UGH

I've thought long and hard these past few weeks, as I've struggled to come to terms with the election. What I know now, is I feel disenfranchised, although I voted. HC, at last count, was TWO MILLION votes ahead. What kind of democracy is this where the majority does not rule? That was so disillusioning, to truly realize that we don't have a true democracy for the presidential election. We are so accustomed to this electoral college nonsense, that we accept it even when it nullifies the will of the people.

So, for me, my focus is eliminating the electoral college once and for all. We shouldn't even be going through this trauma.

Sleeping Giants now has a Facebook page. For those of you who aren't familiar, they're boycotting companies that advertise on Breitbart. So far, 22 companies have stopped advertising!

Their Facebook page also lists the 22 companies, in case you want to reward them with your business:

Some info from my, uh, secret FB group on how to advocate for a federal (GAO) audit of T-rump's finances for conflicts of interest:

Quote

I just got off the phone with the Government Accountability Office (GAO) - (202-512-5500) in support of Senator Warren's request to audit the President Elect's finances for conflicts of interest. I asked the person who answered what the most effective way to be sure my support counted. She said to email a new address set up specifically for this issue, as well as the two administrators.
