There's a blue dress up on her blog today. I couldn't get a jpeg of it because it comes up pinterest.

Here you go! She looks fucking insane and is obviously cosplaying as Melania. Someone should send Lydia a copy of Melania's soft-core lesbian porno!

Does this twit own an iron?

More to the point, does she have any idea how to sew a set-in sleeve?

I'm not sure how as my sewing skills are very basic, but I'm sure I could do a better job.  Does she even measure properly?  Her clothes always look so ill-fitting.  And frumpy.

I haven't sewn clothes for myself in decades, probably. I don't enjoy sewing and the value I place on my time makes it an expensive hobby on a par with raising chickens, which I do enjoy.  So this is what I remember from 50 years ago, when I did have to sew my own clothes.

It's pretty easy to do, and every pattern I've ever used had detailed instructions for that step. Basically you set your stitch length to the longest possible, and run one row of this basting stitch along the shoulder seam line of the sleeve, and another row about 1/4" in from the seam line, from one specific mark on the pattern to the other. Leave enough thread hanging off to get a good grip, then, pulling evenly on both stitching rows, first on one end, then the other, gather up the excess material (called the ease) evenly. If you're making puffed sleeves the gathers will be bigger than if it's a fitted sleeve, but the gathers should be evenly spaced so that both sleeves look the same when they are sewn in, and there are no pleats like the one on her left sleeve in this photo (and in just about every garment she has ever modeled)

@Black Aliss

I had to look at it again.  The wrinkles distracted me the first time, but, wow, that is quite a fold.  My mother would have given her major side eye for that.  Mom was a great seamstress.  She sewed a lot of clothes for herself, me, and my younger aunt when I was kid.  Now that she is gone, I regret not taking the time to enjoy that hobby with her.

Thanks for the explanation.  Now I'm sure I can do better than her.

She looks like she combined Melania Trump and Ma Ingalls.  Little Hands on the Prairie.

Also, she shouldn't insult the First Lady by implying that Mel would be too poor to afford a proper lace or starched collar. A woman of means from that time would NEVER appear with such a neckline! HOW can she claim to be able to instruct young ladies when she sets SUCH a poor example?!? Tisk, tisk, Lydia!

She claims she is dressing nice so she can properly train younger women. That dress is a hot mess.

She can eff right off. I wish I had something more eloquent to say, but even if I did, it would come down to that.

Remember the jacket is fleece and the dress is a cotton blend. I too agree they both needed an iron. I saw MTrump climbing the stairs to AF1 today and she was wearing "WHITE" slacks. It's not even Memorial Day, but they were on their way to FL so I guess that doesn't count.

*sits in corner, head on knees, wailing and whimpering*

Okay maybe a slight over reaction, but it's a creepy face nonetheless.

Dear God I'm going to have nightmares from that.

That dress label should be Frump for Trump.

I remember reading somewhere (or hearing on Awesome Etiquette from the Emily Post Institute) that the whole white after labor day isn't as much about the color but about the weight of the fabric. Not that I ever wear white, because stains, but I thought it was an interesting factoid.

  • 6 months later...

I've been closely following the news about Harvey, and have seen quite a few videos of people being rescued from their flooded homes. These rescues reminded me of when Lady Lydia got upset about the clothing worn by women escaping New Orleans after Katrina hit.

I'm hoping that Lydia's too busy with her sewing and  tea parties to pay any attention to Harvey.
