Sadly, this is probably viewed as a "treat" for her, as in "Once a week, I have scheduled "alone time" that is just for me, so I can go shop for the family." :my_sick:

Sadly, this describes my "me time" too. *sigh*

As much as anyone deserves a day out by themselves, they seem to do it often enough. They used to pride themselves on spending one-on-one time every week with their kids. How on earth can you even take one shopping trip to yourself if you're really going to make that time for your kids? I do think little shopping trips like this can be a good 1-on-1 opportunity- what a waste for your already under-noticed children.

Yes, I am quoting myself. I just realized I had a major brain fart, Michelle gets oodles of me time, she has Jana. Dang you Michelle!!! Grrrr

Isn't every working parents "me time" spent at Target or the grocery store once a week? Sad thing is how much I look forward to going to Target alone. My family has no clue why I always volunteer to get TP & soap! I just wander the aisles in silence, no one yakking at me. So nice!

then again Michelle is not a working mother. She is not much of a mother at all.

Had to fly to Sydney for lawyers for my uncles estate.  I arranged to fly in a day early for a little 'me' time.

Fast forward to this week.  Daughter no 2 had her appendix out on Thursday ( some competition between surgeons as she has situs in versus, where her organs are reversed).  Now I feel very guilty about 'me' time and leaving her.

I know her Dad, sister and boyfriend will look after her but I'm the Mum!

@Percy, I hope your daughter recovers well.  My dad is the same. There's quite a few people around with just their hearts on the opposite side, but everything reversed (as you would obviously know) is rarer.  My dad is popular with the medical profession here as he volunteers to be a "patient" for medical students in their practical exams.  He's a very fit 76 year old, but he does have lung trouble (thought to be bronchitis for decades) which is a complication of the condition.

PS sorry about your uncle.  I hope were still able to enjoy your free day here in Sydney.

@Karma I am staying at Bondi beach :my_rolleyes:. .  Daughter is sounding much better today , her Dad made her favourite soup for dinner so she is happy.

She would be happy to volunteer for medical exams as well.  Has your Dad had any difficulties with any surgeries?  I was very firm about which surgeon I wanted to do the surgery.  She was apparently the talk of the theatre suite that afternoon.

Thank you about Uncle, he was comfortable at the end and that was the main thing for me.

@Percy, have you walked along to Bronte (with the crowds) to see Sculptures by the Sea?  I'm going tomorrow, so I'll look out for you.  Your avatar doesn't give me much of a hint as to who to look for though! ;)

Dad had his appendix out in the 1940s in a small rural Qld hospital, and an operation on his adenoids about 15 years ago, but that's it.  So no, no surgical problems.  The ENT specialist was confused by his adenoid X-rays though until dad explained - even they are reversed.  He's also volunteered to donate his body to the USyd medical school once he's finished with it.  No guarantee they will take it, but I think they will jump at the opportunity.  Hopefully not for a long time yet!

Glad to hear your daughter is doing better :)

Is that what all the people on the cliff were doing? That makes sense now.

No, sorry. I am off to the lawyer in the morning and flying home in the afternoon.

Is your Dad completely reverse or just dextrocardia?  Did that cause any problems with his appendix?

I am just not sure what else I need to watch with her.

Yes, @Percy, that would have been people walking from the southern end of the beach around to Bronte.  It's a lovely walk, but so crowded at Sculptures time.  Can you get up early tomorrow and have a quick walk?  I'll post some pics in Specularium tomorrow if you would like a look at them.

Yes, dad is completely reverse.  The only confusion his appendix caused is people wondering about why his scar is on the wrong side ;). The only problem he's had are lung issues.  Until Ross River Fever knocked him around a few years ago, he was playing 18 holes of golf twice a week and going to the gym three times.  He's still more active anda fit than the average man his age I think.  If it's any comfort, none of his 4 kids or 9 grandchildren have inherited it.

The lung problems were thought to be chronic bronchitis until fairly recently.  This did get them bumped up the public housing list when his family moved to Sydney in about 1950 and were living in a damp, cold tent for months (they were very poor).   I'm not sure what it's called (bad daughter), but I'll ask him if you like.

Just googling, it might be http://patient.info/doctor/kartageners-syndrome.

How old is your daughter? Has she had any problems?

Apologies to anyone more interested in Mama Duggar than this rare medical condition!  Dad has only met one person his entire life who is completely reversed like him.

Daughter no. 2 was diagnosed this year when having her wisdom teeth out at 18 years of age.  She had been telling me since she was about 8 years but after only meeting 1 person in 30 years of nursing I chose to ignore her. Bad mistake.

They had trouble with ECG leads with wisdom teeth. Chest XRay confirmed dextrocardia.  Other scans confirmed situs in versus.  Lucky as when she complained of left iliac fossa pain I just put it down to ovulation pain in the past.

Now appendix gone, less to worry about.

An unchaperoned woman! Scandalous! Who knows what sort of trouble she could get into? She might suddenly strip down into a bikini and cause a wave of divorces in the grocery store!

Let's hope there are no lawnmowers around!!!!!

She looks 40 and gorgeous in the after photo.

His High Holiness J Boob can't be having that, other men may gaze upon her countenance.

He must feel very insecure to require Michelle  make the worst of herself instead of the best of herself.

Considering he looks like a farm hand without a row to hoe yes, yes he does. The bucked toothed wonder can't believe a solid 5 fell for his #2 ass.

As somone with naturally curly hair I don't totally hate her poodle-doo but I think she could chop 8-10" off, still have long Gothardly hair but look much better. Some face framing is definitely needed. Oh, and lose the bangs!

Even if she did the long loose curls like Jump for Me Bin Jessa it would be an improvement. But you know what Boob married her in the 1980s so her 80s 'do could be the only individuality she has left from the Gothard-aide

Yep, I've always assumed they were Danskos. They do look odd with her long skirts, but I imagine she needs a lot of arch support after, what, 16 full-term pregnancies?

I also believe they are Danskos. Coming from someone who has horrible feet, they are the best shoes ever. Maybe Dairy Queen has bunions? Bad arches? Plantar fasciitis? Hell, just the thought of standing on those tile floors in the TTH for any amount of time makes my feet hurt.

Danskos last for years. The salesperson pointed this out to me when I was contemplating my first purchase. They're not cheap. But they last so long you get your money's worth out of them. My first pair is four years old and I still wear them. I wore them almost every day for 2 years. They're still my go to shoe. My sorority sister has a pair she wore throughout her two pregnancies. She works in a retail setting and is on her feet all day. She's the one who suggested I try them out.

So, I'm going to guess DQ has owned this same pair for several years and I'm going to bet her feet are a mess... Or at least she needs the arch support.

Are you sure it's not an impostor? She's not wearing the green shirt. I don't recognize her without her iconic green shirt or alternate battleship mother of the bride dress!

Halloween is less than a week away.

I'm betting the green shirt was in the laundry. And since Jinger is preoccupied with Baaaaaaabe I'm guessing she's not helping the newest J'slave transition into their new jurisdiction as laundry slave. So, the laundry is piling up. We know DQ doesn't do anything... Except participate in sweet fellowship with Boob. Please pass the brain bleach. :brainbleach:

I haven't watched any of the new season because I can't even stand the sight of Boob and J'chelle, but all this talk of Baaaaabe is making me extra glad I haven't, but also mildly curious to hear how annoying it is for myself :pb_lol:

Physical therapist suggested Danskos for me because of knee damage.   However, Orthopedic doctor said not all that great since they don't have enough cushion to provide shock absorbing for the knees and feet.   He recommended Merrells . Clarks or similar shoes.   Those shoes have enough cushion to 'give' when you walk, have a good arch support too.

Even if the shoes do seem to last forever, they do breakdown.   It took forever to get my husband to try Merrells but when he did he fell in love.   After two years I made him get a new pair.  He fussed that the ones he had were still cushiony.    Got him in the store and made him try on another pair.   He was so surprised at the difference in the support.

Percy no need to feel bad! You are clearly an active and devoted mum who actually parents. Michelle checked out years ago at around 6 kids.
