It makes me quite sad but also makes me have a little more respect for Nathan when I think of the tenderness he must feel for his youngest siblings. 

I loved seeing the pictures of Nathan and the younger kids as well.  Your theory could be right and he and Sarah did do a lot for and with the younger kids.
