More Info on Doug Wilson, Pedophile Enabler

It's important to read anything coming from Doug Wilson with an extremely critical mind set.

Quote

...there are terrible real world consequences for his family...

I have an awful feeling the Christ Church is deciding how worthy this family is of help...they'll probably be subjected to the church's shitty counseling center.

Quote

...we regard this entire tragic episode as one more casualty in the unconscionable pornification of our culture.”

Wilson knows damn well this guy is a pedophile, but is deliberately doing damage control by framing it as a "good" man trapped by bad influences, through no fault  of his own!  He has this dreadful porn habit, but he's the victim here! Pornification!  He's been to sex rehab so he's all good now!

According to The Roys Report article linked by @Hane,  Lloyd has been indicted in a U.S. District Court and will (presumably) be sentenced under Federal law.  So...a situation similar to Josh Duggar?

Of course I'm nosy and want to know how Lloyd was found out.

Oh, Lord. She’s going to be told that he looked at CSAM because she wasn’t having sex with him enough.

Also concerning that he doesn’t see the difference between looking at pictures of a grown woman versus a child under 12 years old.

Exactly my problem with this response from Doug. And it's a BIG BIG problem.

Thinking more  about Doug Wilson's statement that bothers me. It's this: “With regard to the other surrounding sins by which Alex disqualified himself, humiliated his family, and embarrassed his church, he has sought our forgiveness, and we have extended it...At the same time, there are terrible real world consequences for his family...

What utterly horrible things to say in a public statement.  It's not comforting or supportive of the family who are in no way responsible for what Alex Lloyd has done.

It's a passive-aggressive cruelty,  Wilson further humiliating Alex Lloyd by shitting on the family in his statement and humiliating the family because he's meaner than a junk yard rat.

"and embarrassed his church"  Doug Wilson is the church, the church is Doug Wilson. THE worst, in Doug Wilson's mind, is that it makes Doug Wilson look bad.  It's not that a family has been devastated, their lives turned upside down.  It's that he has to spin and cover up yet ANOTHER pedophile scandal in his church, he's pissed and somebody has to pay...and suffer.

What the heck with his reply about police planting CSAM on someone's computer? Does he seriously think that's what the overworked and vicariously traumatized people who have to deal with that horrific material are doing? Planting it on fundie computers?

Also, the "multiple witnesses" thing always makes me have a huge eye roll, especially when theobro fundies pull it out. It's a reference to Deuteronomy 19:15, when the Old Testament law for a theocratic society requires there to be multiple credible witnesses or a thorough investigation of a potentially malicious witness. Okay, so if you want to have your bizarro hermeneutics that tries and applies selective OT law passages to your "kirk," why do you ignore the one exception to the multiple witnesses rule, Patriarchs? In Deuteronomy 22, when a woman is raped and there  is no one around to help her: "25 But if out in the country a man happens to meet a young woman pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. 26 Do nothing to the woman; she has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders a neighbor, 27 for the man found the young woman out in the country, and though the betrothed woman screamed, there was no one to rescue her."

Guess what, Doug? Even in OT patriarchal times, if a woman is raped and there's no other witness - the woman is to be believed. This verse is surrounded by verses where both the man and the woman are to be punished. So, the implication is the woman is telling what happened to her...and is believed...even though there is no additional witness.

I honestly think that at the time he wrote that either he or someone close to the church’s inner circle (son, deacon, wealthy donor) was looking at things they shouldn’t, and he was trying to “prepare” the congregation. I’m very curious to know what all comes out during the trial, who might have known what and for how long.

It's a dynamic created by DW to control his flock <snip>

I watched part of a video of Doug interviewing his wife Nancy about how she counsels women in the church.  He comes across as gentle, avuncular, kind.  It may be a real aspect of his personality, but it's only one aspect.  I keep returning to the term "Machiavellian" to describe this man, and I think it's accurate.

So many of them do. Tim Bayly came off the same way, as did others. I suspect it’s not a real aspect but a carefully cultivated one, aimed to set people at ease, build trust by appearing to be trustworthy, and facilitate gaslighting, setting up the perfect conditions for scapegoating and victim-blaming. Both Bayly and Wilson, among others, were invited multiple times to “teach” at our PNW cult.

Ugh, yes. I tend to think it's malignant narcissism, but even if its just situational, they absolutely know how to "work" their audience.

If you don't mind sharing, what PNW cult did they teach at? I'm often surprised by how fundie-lite people in other regions seem oblivious to the crazy that is the Moscow empire.

Westminster Presbyterian Church, a PCA church across the River from Portland, not to be confused with the “liberal” Westminster Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) in Portland.

I’m not as fearful as I was of naming that horrible toxic place nowadays. We’re healing. At the time we left, the “teaching elder” (I refuse to equate him to a “pastor” in any sense of the word) freaked us out by stalking and cornering our teens at the county fair to try to intimidate them into toeing the line. I stayed very cautious for years after to avoid bringing attention to us (and them). But they are adults now and much more capable of giving any of those puffed-up bastards what-for, to put it mildly, if they should encounter them in a public place.

Alex Lloyd was indicted for possessing CSA images on his phone in mid April and his trial is set for June 21. That's incredibly fast, but perhaps they wanted to get to trial STAT.

His attorney is experienced in representing clients in Federal court:  Vieth Law Offices

This is my suspicion too.  Why do you need to put out there that digital evidence shouldn't always be believed unless you anticipate a possibility of digital evidence being found at some point that you don't want to be believed?

Doug Wilson's father has kicked the bucket. Didn't realize he was still alive:

The obit for Jim Wilson is poorly written. It wasn't clear his wife died in 2010. His wife Bessie was 8 years older than him. I'm surprised they didn't say how many grandchildren and great-grandchildren he has. Some people would even name them all.

Gack. The Wilson Collective has created a documentary mockumentary agitprop about returning to femininity and patriarchy and  isn't it wonderful? It's based on the book Eve in Exile by  Rebeca Merkle (Doug Wilson's daughter and wife of president of New Saint Andrews, Ben Merkle).

This excellent piece in Religious Dispatches by Cait West dissects the whole thing.  West grew up under Doug Wilson and  Vision Forum influence, watching things like Return of the Daughters

SEXUAL ABUSE IS INEVITABLE IN CHRISTIAN PATRIARCHY; JUST TAKE A LOOK AT DOUG WILSON’S CHRIST CHURCH, AND ITS NEW ‘DOCUMENTARY’ ‘EVE IN EXILE: THE RESTORATION OF FEMININITY’

Someone please refresh me: is Rebekah Merkle the Wilson spawn who, on social media, harshly criticized women who spent too much time looking at aspirational interior design while standing in her high end designer kitchen with a huge designer sink and wrap around windows overlooking a lovely forest?

That was Rachel Jankovic, her sister.  I’ve wondered before what would happen if we got the Botkinettes and the Wilson daughters together. Rachel and Rebekah are so vicious they’d probably tear AS and E to pieces.

I don't know: I think AS and E could hold their own in a fight against the Wilson daughters.

Jankovic also did a webinar charging women $35 to yell at them for monetizing their social media.  Pretty rich coming from a family that cranks out content for $$$ like so many Big Macs 24-7.  The Wilson girls are indeed vicious.  In fact they embody the sort of shrill harpy Doug is always carrying on about.  I guess it's okay if you identify as anti-feminist and your dad has his fat little fingers in the pot.

They hadn't been on my radar. What a bunch of vile human beings. Is there a decent one in that family?

Da fuk?  A webinar is an extension of social media.

Yeah, women co-opted to enforce a  male paradigm -- scary.  Also, women who co-opt a male paradigm to be power adjacent, also scary.

That’s one of the reasons why the Wilsonettes scare me more than Anna and Elizabeth. They’re in a community rife with sexual abuse and men who protect and enable it, and they must know that. They have to keep themselves and their children safe, while at the same time act like nothing is wrong. You have to be vicious to survive and maintain the perfect paradigm in the same breath, and when you can justify that, you can justify *anything.* While CTKC might have been heavy handed and spiritually abusive, as far as we know there’s no sexual abuse there, and AS and E are still being very closely watched by Geoff. They also have much less of a public persona to promote and protect than Rachel and Rebekah.

Reminds me of how Phyllis Schafly got her in with the male dominated political establishment.

It’s a strange crossover, but I sort of wish JillRod would watch and consider this.
Interesting video clip! Notice how she corrects herself from “who” to “for whom.” Doug must be pretty strict about such things. Sad to read that he got it from his father. Those adult children will have a lot to work through, should they ever get to that point.

We can talk about exactly how awful Doug Wilson and mini-me Bnonn Tennant are, but this kind of shit can and will get women killed. It's horrifying.  And make no mistake -- it's all Doug Wilson.
