My partner is ex-Fundy, of the Vineyard persuasion, and from what I can tell, while there are awesome home churches (a work friends belonged to one), the Fundy groups from my partners' ex-World seem to spend more time infighting with each other about who's holier than thou  than anything else, with lots of schisming, and so on.

I think the mainstream Evangelical moment is generally much less conservative than the USA's, and with things like Church schools already here, there's not the homeschooling movement, while the idea of being a SAHD is just bizarre.  That said, while things aren't Church-based, lots of things like Evangelical groups running mainstream Academies etc is a worry.   Things like the Academy/Freeschool legislation is a real problem, because lots of parents don't have the option to send their child across town/out of the area if their local secondary school suddenly turns Fundy (or into a Sports or Arts specialist school, or something that doesn't fit their child's needs)

The rabbit hole I always fall down is the USA-funded Christian Legal Centre, that brings spurious cases in the UK courts that almost always get rejected.  For example, the woman who thought she was discriminated against because she couldn't wear a cross necklace, because staff weren't allowed to wear necklaces for safety reasons; the man who had joined Relate marriage guidance counselling knowing that the organisation has a non-discrimination policy, then tried to claim religious persecution when he wasn't allowed to discriminate against LGBT clients; the home-nurse who lost her job for praying over clients who had made it clear they didn't want it; the woman who thought she should be allowed to harass Muslim co-workers.  The CLC annoys the hell out of me, because generally these people seem like pawns, who don't understand the long-term impact of being the poster-children of stupid cases that are doomed to failure.  The clients often don't seem too bright, and have been told by the CLC that they're fighting God's fight, when really they're becoming unemployable and looking ridiculous.

It's pretty sad that people who probably should be classified as vulnerable adults when they're so utterly blind sided and brain washed can be exploited  

I always feel much more sorry for second third and fourth etc generations; they are denied the luxury of choice and know no different the free world speaks a different language really...

it's so weird to me to see Vineyard described as fundie!  They're more like Bethel in California, or Hillsong churches.  I guess you could call them fundie in a certain sense, but they're definitely not (as a movement, anyway; I can't speak for individual churches/pastors) the skirts only, homeschooling, home churching, patriarchal, quiverfull type of fundie that normally gets discussed on here.  Christian Voice, on the other hand....

No, but we don't have that Quiverfull/homeschool/skirts-only movement here in the UK outside of very, very small denominations - but my partner's Vineyard church, and the churches her sister and her Vineyard ex-friends go to are definitely fundy.  Homophobic, no-women-preaching, massively hypocritical "you're all going to hell and we're not", speaking in tongues, slain in the spirit types.  Now, I know some people who go to what seem like nice Vineyard home church groups, and are truly lovely people, and it totally seems to be that it's very different regionally, but the Vineyard my partner was involved in were hotbeds of the nasty, restrictive, manipulative Fundy mentalities. 

My partner had laying on hands to cast out the gay, was advised to get married and have kids rather than go to uni, as that would stop her being gay "because once you have kids, you won't care about sex anyway" and was told that if she didn't stop being gay she couldn't be part of the church.  They had a meeting where the youth leader announced her boyfriend had slept with one of the women in the room, but it was all fine cos he'd repented, but the woman was cast out (this was a huge surprise to the woman!) - and having been to one of their services when staying in my partner's hometown, they were pretty damn Fundy in my book.
