That AK simple living blog... kids names?

It has the same awkward, badly designed website feel to it, so maybe.

I miss the Wilkinsons, I could just imagine them doing a Ruby Ridge one day :(. Their kids were very unfortunate looking. :(

ETA tsiyonbound.blogspot.co.nz/#!http://tsiyonbound.blogspot.com/2011/08/finding-remnant.html This is them. but the photo must be a few years old now.

Oh Vision, I always wanted to free your hair.

If they were actual Jews, they wouldn't even try.

 exactly! I always imagine them coughing it under their breath, or just mumbling it...

I found their flickr again. It's wilkinson4jesus. The frumpers! The hair! But at least the kids always seemed to be able to get outside and enjoy nature...

I don't remember them talking about discipline being a big deal or plans for weird courtships, although that might be because they were too young to worry about courtship. I hoped that they would grow up, be allowed into the world, and realize the Girl Scouts weren't Satanic. I wish they would update the internet on how they are doing.

ETA: Well, according to youtube they were all around ten months ago.

ETA2: Well, if they have blanket training photos I guess they did do the discipline thing.

Oh I love them, they have real matzoh, stollen for Christmas and a yule log. I think they have all the bases covered. And a baby sleeping in a dog bed and blanket training photos, that ices the cake for me.

Mercy Fire sounds like a good stage name for a porn actress

I knew FJ would be able to track down something!

I think I found their address, but I want to double check. Does anyone remember the blogger's or her husband's first name? (Not that I'm going to do anything with the address, other then pat myself on the back for my not very good research skills. It's still, like, an 8 hour drive, plus i'm not a creeper.)

Jason and Anna Wilkinson. Found it online, I'm not a stalker either :D

So I remember a while ago there was this family of faux jews up near Fairbanks that had a blog that we talked about. I think it was AK Simple Living, and I remember she went private. I want to go check on it to see if it might be public and/or if they have a connection to the current Militiamen trial going on now:

http://www.adn.com/2012/06/14/2505458/m ... s-cox.html (This link interviews the wife of one of the men accused of making a hit-list of politicians to kill. Sounds fundie.)

But I can't find anything :(

other than the obvious fake jew connection & location. I'm very curious about these people.

ETA the subject.

Ah my favourite gateway fundies!

They shut down a while back and I might (eeek!) have had a little something to do with them pulling down the hatches.

I posted on here about Jason having a son to a previous relationship. Glenn (the son) was mentioned on their blog a few years ago, then nothing since. I posted a link to their archived entry where Glenn was mentioned and appeared on family photos. I don't know if there was any bad feeling that went on, I can only presume they had little contact with him as I think he lived with his mother in the lower US. He was never mentioned in any other posts of theirs and never counted when they said how many children they had. Anyway I post here about him and within 24 hours their blog went private and within a couple of weeks had been deleted.

They are still on facebook, they have twitter but have only tweeted once or twice. They also have another blog called Mikveh Heart (or something or other) but the blog is empty. There was another blog which I can't remember the name of, but that one was empty too.

I haven't been able to find anything else. I can only presume they either have another ID and are keeping it private or they aren't blogging any more.

I miss them too. I wanted to see how the house was coming along and the clothes alone were enough to keep me heading back. If I remember correctly, the mom found us ,told us we were bad and then closed the blog.

From the photos, the house is soundly constructed. He's got some heavy excavation equipment which really helps him do the job properly. I do wish he was blogging because I find them both rather skilled homesteaders, frumpers and faith aside. Since there are only two adults, I'm assuming they are both doing most of the heavy work and I cannot help admire them for their efforts. He apparently over engineers everything he builds and that is commendable considering their location and the challenges of climate. I'd love to ask him why he chose a barrel stove as opposed to a rocket stove, I've got dozens of questions. This kind of shit is so frustrating for me.

They had a seriously kick arse garden considering the short growing season.

Alaska has long days, which compensate for their short seasons, kind of how it works here in the PNW depending on latitude. I saw the biggest cabbages in the world at the Anchorage Farmers Mkt (one of the best FMs I've ever been to.)

Didn't they just. That's one of the things that I liked about them. Yeah they were fruitloops, yeah their kids were filthy and had weird names but bloody hell that family worked like hell to get that house built in what are pretty tough conditions. Yeah it wasn't pretty to look at, but they did it, and the things they grew! I loved reading about their homestead, didn't like their misinformation about vaccines and abortion. Shame they've gone really.

I used to call them the Alaskan hillbillies. Did the husband have a job? I don't remember.

I don't recall but he's got thousands of dollars worth of equipment. It's a lot of work to winterize his heavy equipment every year, not to mention simple stuff like sharpening the chainsaw. I do admire their work ethic.
