Shady Maple? That's in PA! I've been to Shady Maple!

Me, too! What's the deal with fundies and Lancaster County all of a sudden? First it was Jill Rodrigues, now the Duggars. PA has enough problems, people--go home!

Lancaster is too nice a place for such crappy people.

Is it the godly taco place owned by their friends or no? I'm eating amigos right now. Only nebraskans will understand the ecstasy I'm experiencing as I Drench my mexi fries and crisp meat in ranch.

Omg drunk food of my youth. Did you get Mexi Fries? I would get 2 taquitos after drinking on O Street weekend nights. Shortly before I moved I switched my allegiance to D'Leons - hands down best tacos I've had in my life.

They're in an Amish establishment, or one that caters to Amish traditions. Maybe no hats are allowed?

Or someone burned it. :my_biggrin:

It's not Amish, it's one of the huge corporations that exploits faux Amish traditions. There are locally owned restaurants in that area, but most don't have the massive cheap buffets so believed by the Duggars

An overall aura of quaint piety and a plethora of cheap buffets

I don't remember Shady Maple being all that cheap. Good, yes.

They have some pretty interesting menu clauses

Full or Partial Refunds will be considered for the following reasons:

1. Sudden illness. Refund will be limited to the one person who is ill (and possibly one caregiver).

2. A medical emergency involving you.

3. Mechanical failure, such as a power outage, which shuts down the Buffet.

4. Disruptive behavior by another guest. Relocating you to another area will be encouraged.

In order to be considered for a full or partial refund, you must have your receipt and speak to a Customer Service representative during the same visit.

Did they have a problem with people faking heart attacks to get their $13.99 back?

Gastric Bypass Policy

We offer the following options for individuals who have had Gastric Bypass.

"Beverage Only" option, unlimited refills.

One VERY SMALL "carry in" container of food, no supplementing from the buffet.

One "Not Eating" option noted on the meal ticket, no sharing food from the buffet.

Due to difficulty in obtaining proper documentation and advice from the medical profession, Gastric Bypass discounts are no longer being offered.

This was a good policy... then they got rid of it?  Because you needed a note from your dr that said you could have a small amount of food?  I wonder if gastric sleeves counted the same... I guess I'll never know...

I'm not 100% sure but I think "man of God" is just fundie speak for Godly man. It may even be just plain ole religious speak. I have a friend who was agnostic and then got saved a few years ago in the baptist church and has wavered back and forth a few times on how strict she is, and that is how she refers to her boyfriend and he's a teacher or something. I don't think it is about his profession. I'm pretty sure it's equivalent to saying he's a man of character or a man of conviction or a man of mystery or a man of any other trait, its awkward phrasing though because it isn't stylistically in line with the evolution of grammatical parlance. Not wrong per se, but a lot like "to purpose to" it just isn't something that is used in the usual way.

Could be it just means "Godly man," but it does seem kind of redundant since any man that is allowed to court a Duggar girl is going to be (at least in appearance) a "Godly" man.

It is still kind of sad that she can't "like" him for more personal/unique traits.  Good luck to her.

My guess is he is probably getting a kick out of being virtuous -- sort of like when you start a diet and you feel so proud of yourself to be eating a healthy salad with no dressing and lots of lettuce while everyone around you is eating loaded baked potatoes or whatever.

As with the diet, the novelty may wear off eventually.

The novelty of my diets often wears off within hours.

I agree, on  FB I just saw someone post her son's prom pictures, describing the young girl he escorted as "godly."
