The video makes me wonder how Josh could really believe in any sort of higher power. His run to rehab with his tail between his legs in my opinion was all for show. We have discussed on this thread and others that we believe the only thing that stopped Josh was that he got caught and that he would have kept doing it indefinitely otherwise. 

Can one compartmentalize that much? If Josh really believed in an angry, righteous God, then how could he do what he did, and seemingly so easily? How would he not be shaking in his boots at the thought of his actions? Almost makes me think Josh saw the power benefits of Fundie Christianity but doesn't really believe.

Much as I dislike Josh, I would much rather see him employed in some manner and taking a responsible role in the family he created than just bumming around in a basement somewhere obsessing about naked ladies and the evil media, so at least this is something of a step in the right direction.

How did Josh get this much money to buy all these cars? I have checked his posts everyday with my husband who knows cars (so he can say if they are over priced, I hide the price and we play guess Josh's price). He has posted over 500k worth of cars in 2 or so weeks. He has taken a few down and reduced a few. Of course they are overpriced so lets say he paid even 150k for them, how did he get that type of cash. I can see Jim Bob letting him live in a house to control him. I can see Jim bob paying for his flip phone, but 6 figures of cash to buy cars?

Since he is living most likely bill free why not buy cheaper easy to sell cars like older but relaible sedans like Honda or Toyotas  that appeal to many and start over gradually. I notice Josh is willing to trade for Cessna's or other planes. He could have bought a used Cessna instead of some of those big trucks, low riders, and classic cars. While maybe a few are consignment , would that many people allow Josh to sell their cars? and that type of variety of cars would not come from a single consignor.

He has been on a reality show for 10 years, plus a well paid fake job in washington for two or three years, plus aldi shopping. I can believe he has made enough money to buy that many cars

Slightly OT and I don't exactly know why and I also don't know why it comes to my mind just now, but I have an image in my head of JB beating the shit out of Josh, because he was the cause the sweet TLC money ended.

I had an image of that also. I remember telling my mother "I bet JB is pissed because he now has to work".

I would agree with you completely on that. Josh has had no choice but to compartmentalize in order to keep sweet (I always use the FLDS term, and I know that Gothardites have a different word for it, I think they call it joyful obidience), you would have no choice.

He still has a wife and 4 kids to support so I hope he can make some money from it, as much as I hate what he did and wished Anna had left I do wish them well for the sake of the children they have had a tough few months and deserve some normality.

I'm still only on part fourteen, but I'm just reading the discussion about what a fundie man does if his wife dies.

That man who remarried only months after his poor wife and child died - if that is true, it really shows just how much women are valued for themselves in that culture, doesn't it?

I have heard Michelle use the term "keep sweet" several times.

As far as Josh goes, he has to be on the outside looking in at his Gothard family & thinking, "this is whack-o."

He's had plenty of time to think about it; maybe too much time. And when Anna & the kids get ready for church, I can see Josh saying, "No, you go ahead." And I'm sure they have talked about it as a couple. After what he's done, he's seen the world from the un-fundie side & I do believe he likes it. But he is tied to JB until he can sell enough junk cars to break free. The thing is, if he ever does that, we will never hear about it b/c the Sr. Duggars would view that as more of a shame than his whoring around. Years from now, some rag or TMZ will spot them planting potatoes in Idaho or somewhere, keeping to themselves. You'll have to keep an eye out for that tho, for me. By then I'll be pushing up daisies of my own.

Josh was the expirement and he failed. They let him out into the wide world and instead of living the life Jim Bob commanded him to lead, he led his own life and it wasn't the way Jim-Bob wanted him to live. 

What makes me sad is the fac that this likely means none of the other J's are getting out nearly that easily.

Josh had problems before he went into the wide world. Molestation and porn happened while he was still under JB's umbrella. Who knows what would have happened if he'd got real therapy in the beginning?

I really do find it sad that they pushed Joshley off on Anna, who at age 18-20 was a nice, brainwashed person. Who diidn't deserve that, but much in life happens that way I guess. 

I feel like Anna has suffered for Meechelle and Boobs "sins", their horribleness. I could go on and on.

Josh was allowed out his parents' sight, but he was never an independent man.  And he behaved like a teenager who goes completely wild when his parents go away for a vacation.  A very repressed teen who suddenly got to experience all of the things he thinks his friends are doing and he's only been able to dream about.

I'm glad that the "kids" at home Joy's age and older aren't rushing into arranged marriages like Josh's just to get away.   I believe Jim Bob would have sold Jana and Jinger to the Devil's uncle for ratings so my hope is that they, and their brothers, are resisting until they can find partners on their own.   And hopefully what they "walked through" with the Josh experience taught them some important things.  While Jim Bob and Michelle are no doubt selling this as a big, bad world corruption thing - fact is, they raised this douche and the minute he was out of their sight he behaved very, very badly.   John and Jana aren't kids and they aren't nearly as sheltered as they would have been sans TLC.  And they may be able to connect a few dots between the parental repression and their brother's behavior.

Either way, something is preventing Jim Bob from marrying his daughters off and anyone who watched Counting On knows more marriages was a constant tease that has yet to come to anything resembling fruition.  I just don't think these young adults are as clueless as Boob wants them to be.

I think you mean DSW, the Godly Shoe Wearhouse that was featured on the show!  Because when you are too good to buy used, buy factory direct!!!

(I actually LOVE DSW, and you should not buy shoes second hand due to safety concerns)
