The sword-! Seriously, do these people not ever realize the phallic imagery? Fun dies and swords, oh my.

 Dafuq did I just watch?! What's with the 50's housewife dress in the kitchen complete with pearls? (All 50's housewives were "unsoiled", I guess.) What's with the incessant pictures of people kissing? And what. the. hell. is with the sword?

Ick. Ima need a shower now.

Fundies are obsessed with sex, hence all the kissing and groping they do in public.

Holy hell. I'm in a fb group for posters from Sister Wives Blog that are going to Vegas in September to do some Brown nosin' around town. There are only 8 of us there, and I posted a story about this expressing the emotional incest factor and falling in love with daddy to compare/contrast the patriarchal systems of the different kinds of fundamentalism. One of the girls there said it reminded her of herself at 18. I just didn't know what to say. I'd made my feelings pretty clear about the glorification of the hymen and said exactly what I felt. I never expected someone I talk to numerous times a day could be hurt by what I said. Now I just feel horrible. :embarrassed:

Here are the bios of the cast

virgintales.com/en/film/cast-and-crew/

Those bios are bizarre, did they write them for themselves or did the sword wielding dad write them ?

Jordyn is more of a shy young woman and as the fourth oldest she is next in line to marry, exchanging her father for a husband and thereby lose her virginity.

Khrystian is the model virgin of the family: beautiful, sexy, self-confident – and overjoyed with her fate.

I think you're right. The blessing by dad ritual seems the same. And they creep me out just as much.

I thought so, too-- the girls in white dancing around the cross and the creepy dad holding a sword (wtf?) seemed familiar to me.

As creepy and wrong as this video is, I have to admit I kind of liked the wedding picture of her doing a high developpe in front of the desert (although the husband's stance seemed odd and out of place); mostly because I like scenic ballet pictures. Aside from that, though... :brain-bleach:

EDIT: I totally skipped the 3rd page of posts before I replied, sorry for a redundant post (it's been a long day).

For people trying to be so modest, those bios are outta line. I would be horrified to be described in such a way. :?

Also ballerinas didn't have the best of reputations during the fundies idealised 19th century.... Pretty young women entertaining the morally corrupt' upper class.

And not to forget:

Ballet theaters in the 19th century were actually also the biggest "child brothels" of it´s era!

Ok so when they trade their Daddy for a husband (as you do wtf) what happens to the father daughter relationship it seems kinda sad that they spend their entire life building and supporting a close relationship (though twisted at times) only to have it totally shut down.

This trailer completely squicked me out, as the family did in Purity Balls, but WTF with those bios? They are poorly and strangely written, and the whole emphasis on "sexy virgins". The youngest daughter's bio, with her quoting modesty rules that she doesn't understand, is an example of the type of brain-washing these people use. They do seem to like actual military personnel(not that fake Duggar-type) as two sons-in-law are military and one son plans to join.

I think this shit is creepy beyond words.

Edited because whit and shit are two different words.

I think that has got to be the best line written in recent fundie history...

Khryative name, plus "model virgin" and "sexy" in one sentence.

/Can you feel my sarcasm?

I had real problems watching that youtube video.

Cause I know that, if I had lived in that community, would have swallowed the whole purity thing hook, line and sinker.

It would have given me something to feel proud of/beautiful about.

(Puberty sucks)

I come from a rural area where single woman who are older than 20 years are asked at every family gathering/festival/church event: "Oh, you still have not found someone. Poor thing."

The whole idea of being happy and fulfilled without a husband, children and a house is mind boggling for them.

When you explain that you are super happy with your job/University/friends/travelling/enjoying life, they will look at you indulgently and think to themselves "oh that poor delusional girl".

If its already hard/annoying/irritating for me to live in this community, how horrible must it be for those girls who were taught that their only goal in life is being a wife and mother???

The world is so big and has so much to offer!!

  • 3 weeks later...

Watching it now... In the first 5 min I am so disgusted I am "convicted" to turn it off. But I won't because I want to watch the train wreck. Ugh Jordan is so fucking annoying. And can the mother PLEASE stop crying at everything

I watched this yesterday while ironing and IIRC this was already a second airing. It seems that this has been broadcasted in Europe earlier than in the US.

There is certainly upper class mentality. When this girl (Jordan? Jordyn?) is teaching how to serve tea, she mentions White House. There is nothing wrong to aim high but gaah! Why not aim to White House or wherever by herself, not by marriage? My English fails me but they have quite a rosy view of married life. I would love to know if their mother ever really served afternoon tea in sheath dress and long pearl necklace while those children were small. Reality hits hard if and when they don't have money to hire help to maintain perfect host vision.

Argh, fundies are so sex obsessed!

I agree, they are more obsessed than those who surf he web for porn all day and night.

From the mom's bio:

She is also the one who strongly influenced the appearance of Purity Balls as a princess events. Her daughters should be sexy virgins, not plain Janes.

:brain-bleach: :puke-huge:

Does anyone know if the Wilsons have met or friends with any of the fundie familes we discuss here? I think they have at least met the Jeubs and Duggars. If Josh and Randy haven't met yet, they will meet at some point. I don't see Boob and Mullet liking people like the Wilsons because they dance and the girls wear pants. Also Lisa seems to be a better homeschool teacher than Mullet. I did cringe at Lisa's comment about algebra.
